(April Fools!) Japan Says: Dice are not Randomizers, Earth not Round

Well I am surprised POP has not officially comment on this subject yet, nor any word in any other source as of yet. I know for a fact that this a very serious issue for some time, and I would not be the least surprised if things come to pass. Whatever the case I am enjoy all of your panic and torment of this new very possible news in our game. Sorry if I offend anyone, but I personally (as an individual person) agree with Creatures on this matter, but that is always my two cents in this never ending story.

This is just not right it truly is a horrable day for Pokemon because all of my league players and Me, my Mom, and my sister all have gotten used to dice and we all think that coins are VERY unfair.
I realy hope that Mike, Dave, or Pete are watching this tread because I realy thing this is wrong and I think it should be overturned and maybe even reversed so that coins are illegal.
I think we should all try to overturn this change.
I will be telling EVERY league player I have or their parent PUI's E-Mail address.
Because as beatlerat said, the younger players realy can't flip coins and neather can I, my mom, or my sister. LOL
But it remains a fact that it is just a realy bad idea to get rid of dice.

[start of personal player based thoughts]Another question I have is? Assuming this is really true, is this really the end of the world for all of you? Would you be that desperate to quit just because PUI, or even TPC or Creatures of Japan have decided what is best for the game? Sure we will always have different opinions but is it going to kill you to switch to coins if you are forced too. Now I am not critizing anyone here, but I do want to point out that many things are going to go against the general public. For example I remember quite a few upset faces about the new rule changes when EX: Ruby and Sapphire came out. I also remember the huge turmoil when the WotC breakup happened. What about when they took away the 15+ age divison for a while. How about the introduction of the Modified format? In all of these crisises we found logical reason to these and drive to keep on battling! Remember things are going to change for the better or for the worse, I only know that the game will become better as we go along and we will find the game of Pokemon TCG one day finally perfected all across the world.
[end of personal player based thoughts]

Of course its true, look at one of the poor stories due to this already.

April 1, 2005, Walla Walla Walla Walla Walla, Washington.
The A REALLY FAMOUS DICE COMPANY of Walla Walla Walla Walla Walla, Washington will sadly be closing its doors to its happy customers after nearly 0 years and 4 minutes of service. Former Manager Rollie Dicelowkowski said when asked about why the sudden closure, "It's all Japan's fault."
The facts have tried to be hidden but dice sales at the A REALLY FAMOUS DICE COMPANY have been down since last August. Last August was the Pokemon TCG World Championship where the coin flipping Japanese players defeated the Dice dependent Americans. "Ever since that weekend where Japan beat America in Pokemon using coins instead of dice, dice sales have gone down" said co-manager Snakery Eyres. The problem got much worse in November when the Australian team entering the Spongebob/Alvin and the Chipmunks TCGs hybrid World Championships boycotted dice because they had coins with kangaroos and boomerangs on them. The Australian team won three of the four events sparking interest in other countries to drop the dice.
"We were down before the Spongebob/Chipmunks TCG fiasco but that just put us at rock bottom" said the founder of the company, Evena R. Head. The company survived the months after that and even had hopes of a rise until the news on Friday. Pokemon USA announced that to syncronize the rules with Japan, dice will be made illegal for Pokemon play (except as a tiebreaker.) Other huge Trading Card Games such as LOTC (Launch Of The Cows), Faulty Tricks: The Splitting, SATs Showdown, Toasters VS. Refrigerators, and the recent hit Dueling Potato heads (aka PO-TA-TO) are sure to follow suit. Realizing that dice were about to be banned from nearly every major TCG in America the company's leaders, Rollie, Snakery, and Evena decided to sell to a company that makes those little plastic things at the end of shoelaces.
The three said in their last press conference "We were rolling 6's but they have turned to 1's."
Japan's coin flipping ways have driven this company from the peaceful town of Walla Walla Walla Walla Walla, Washington. The A REALLY FAMOUS DICE COMPANY was the leading dice distributor to the western, northern and a little to the left part of the US. This is the beginning of the end for dice as we know it said one expert in Diceatology.
Reporter for this story was Detective Dan of the Walla to the Fifth Power Times.
Newspapers never lie.

It's a joke and nothing more you can tell how it's worded. There are no changes done to the compendium and plus nothing was posted here from the officials because this is the official page for an announcement such as this. The pokegym forums aren't really much of a reliable resource from the officials when it comes down to it so I am not scared at all.

Plus I think the term "gambling" is beyond rediculous to make people think (especially kids) that dice have to do with gambling. That is so not true, look at the other TCG's out there that use dice.

Also the whole point of not using them as damage counters because they can get moved is also beyond dumb. At our leagues here, everyone rolls their dice horizontally across in a large empty space where the dice don't interfere with anything to begin with. Plus both players should be actively aware how much damage is on a pokemon when dice are used for this. If it accidentally get's moved, all you have to do is say, "Oh, it had 40 damage counters on it" and the opponents always agree because they are actually paying attention. Plus dice are more than efficient for damage counters to begin with because if you're active is an EX, for example, and if it had 130 damage counters on it, who in the heck is going to pile up 13 damage counters on top of a card? If that were to happen, it's beyond impossible to figure out what the wording of the card says because there would be nothing left to read due to the mountain of counters that are piled up on the card. Plus over time the card can get damaged this way and on top of that it takes up MUCH MORE time to count how much damage is on it by going, 1,2,3,4, etc. before deciding on a move to make.

If coin flipping is such a big deal and more of a preference then for the love of Christ use the dang coin to randomize the outcomes but don't start going around saying that they can't be used as damage counters either because that would be even more jacked up.

I sure do hope this is a joke! I for one can not flip a coin, I have also seen young kids flipping and cheating. They even do it with dice. By placing it on evens facing them then they look and roll it binso they get heads. I tried it when I got home. Well 8 out of 10 times it came up heads. With a coin it is even easier!. For those that sit there and practice tipping it a certain way, there is no way they can NOT get their way. Please let us know if they will require coins at regionals, Comicon and other events. I don't understand why a real randomnizer like the cup used in backgammon can not be used here. Since both the coin and dice seem so easy for those who want to cheat. I have seen it and witnessed the judging go in their favor.

While you are arguing about that, I don't mind. We've been too obidient using coins and it was only one of hundreds of players (who is actually a Fil-American player) played a dice in our opening tourneys.

We teach kids to flip coins and we have rules on a proper coin flips. April fools joke or not, one part of the world will not mind. Dice are okey. But if one use dice his opponent uses dice. We stress uniformity on these.

April Fools is practically over in all parts of the world. We have had like four April Fools threads today. Let's just close them up and come up with some more creative ideas for next year. :)

Actually, not _everything_ in the thread is a 'joke'...

'mom =/

Hmm I wonder what she means by that. Could it be simply the thought provoking discussion I along with other have been saying about this. Or could it actually be some truth in the original message.

*hears a blood-curdling scream out in the very far distance*

Also did you know that Bayer Asprin has been known to save your life in the event of a heartattack.

*Yawn*.
Time to put this tale to bed.
April Fools is over.
The best stories are made up mostly of the truth.
But, in the end.... roll those dice!
Goodnight, everybody.

If you think this is an April Fools joke, wait till you see what one of the other recent threads in here reveals itself to be.

Alas, things did not come to pass. However I see the future and the future shows more change to be expected, how and who I will not say but evident is it not how change has already happened today? A new gift from PokeGym how nice is it, to finally express our true faces with it? Treat this gift with respect and it shall stay and you will come to find that community will blossom even more these days. In any case the story does not end, how will the game, the gym, and us change in the future's haze?

Things will change, I can sense it.
