are there any decks which need rayquaza badly? Its good in Garchomp/Altaria, but garchomp/altaria works without rayquaza.

It has a lot of uses in Eels. It's a good starter, it counters Dragons, and it can get a few extra Lightning in the discard on T1. While the deck doesn't need it "badly", it's playable enough to send it's price tag through the roof.

i personally dont think that the uses in eels justify the prices some people call( i remember someone saying 80-100$). Rayquaza is good and it will help some decks vs dragon decks but you can beat dragon decks without rayquaza. I honestly doubt dragon decks (mainly garchomp/altaria) will be tier 1 decks

I don't doubt it.

I think the Tier 1 decks will be (in this order):

Darkrai/Hydreigon
Garchomp/Altaria
Eelektrik/Rayquaza EX
MAYBE Emboar/Rayquaza EX

Darkrai/Hydreigon is more of a dark deck, so that's 2 (possibly 3) Dragon decks in Tier 1!

Anyone notice the Shedinja? it doesnt look too good, but its the first since Supreme Victors, and another to add to my collection.

But zekeels needs it to!
Also drifblim/darkrai/hammers = next BDIF!
I wonder when we will get the promo rayquaza and giratina EX?

Zekeels can be fine without it in my testing zeels didn't need it and plus you have tornadus ex to do the turn 1 power blast.

Shedinja is interesting, but even though it's worth 0 Prizes I don't think it's worth it to use it, just not powerful enough

ZekEels doesn't need Rayquaza. It likes Rayquaza EX, but Rayquaza is unnecessary.

I Think Rayquaza is getting to much hype. At league i hear so much of everyone getting their deck ready for it. Same thing happened to Darkrai and i destroyed *most* darkrai decks i came up against, but maybe its just me but i think after a few weeks Rayquaza will just be another EX

Not sure of this has been acknowledged yet, but there are three cards missing between Durant and Gible, would suggests that there is a chance that a normal Rayquaza could make the cut.

those spots surely go to Altaria, Rayquaza EX, and Giratina EX

It can't though because we already have over 15 dragon types.

If you look at the background of each card almost all of them are at N's castle or the PokemonLeague.

^Definitely one of the coolest things about this set. Reminds me of Delta Species and how the Holon Tower was in the background of most the cards. :thumb:

The only gripe I've got with this set is the fact that if you are going to have a set with 128 cards, you need to have more than 6 trainers/energy. You need to have 12+. They need desperately to have a Legend Maker/Unseen Forces type trainer set, where there is an insane amount of them, and nearly all are playable. We are about to have a significant drop in the amount of usable trainers, and that's not really a good thing.

The reason Rayquaza is so good is because it is the absolute best counter to Rayquaza ex. Rayquaza ex hates to trade itself for regular Rayquaza's because it is losing prizes in the process. Now with it only being shiny, the lack of Rayquaza's will make Rayquaza ex a lot harder to deal with for every deck that isn't Garchomp/Altaria, meaning that the deck can completely gear itself to beating that deck with its techs, rather than every deck that can afford a few copies of Rayquaza. It also gave a lot of decks a way to soften upDragon decks, or deal with Garchomp Altaria by KOing their Altarias/Swablus/Gibles/Babites early on. Everything in that deck apart from Emolga/Garchomp and tech are OHKO'd by his first attack.

Really hope they release the normal one sooner than later

^Wholeheartedly agree with this. More trainers/energy helps players develop new combos for the "trainer drought" we're getting ready to have. In addition to this though, it makes PreReleases more fun. Dark Explorers was one of the funnest PreReleases I ever went to, mainly because of the presence of Juniper, N, and Ultra Ball. With the exception of Emolga, Dragons has hardly anything to help you get things in play. Yes, Roserade and Milotic are there, but they'll be very hard to get in play.

One thing I will say, however, is that recent sets have had more focus and theme than ever before. Next Destinies gave us EXs, Dark Explorers focused on Dark Pokemon, Dragons has a brand new type. Much better than the HGSS sets and the beginning of B&W, which offered very few playable, new mechanics (LEGEND cards were cool, but that's about it). Given that, I still miss the occasional flood of playable Stadiums, Trainers, etc.

Uhm...no? Rayquaza EX is bad. Or, to be a lil more politically correct, not as good as people think it is.
The real reason Rayquaza is so good is because it one-shots Tynamos, Swablus, Altarias, Gibles, Gabites for 1 single energy. That is unheard of.
