I would like to join the masses pleased with this change, with one caveat.
While I look forward to the day where the world can play HGSS-On in peace, without fear of persecution from Sabeleye, I'm not quite sure how I feel about the Nats format being untested. It will turn the most competitive tournament of the year into a testing grounds. While I applaud players who are able to throw together new decks on a moments notice, I have always felt that Nats is the place where the folks who have stuck to their guns, tested the field, practiced, and worked hard all season should be doing well. A rotation a days prior to the event, without even as brief a testing period as BR's would provide, seems to be against that spirit, and is unfair to players who may not be quite as adaptable as others, but have put in a year of hard work to make up for it.
That being said, there's no perfect solution here, and this is a damn good one and a good call overall.
I would be willing to bet that any arbitrary number you give would not affect the data as much as you think it will. Our current number to achieve (as players) is "as much as possible". That means our hope is for 100%. Any number you give will not chance current perspective in any way (and it'll make the need for everybody to play Sabledonk go down... unless it is truly 100% wins ). Just sheer curiousity on my part to be honest... I just like to know how the "higher ups" think. I just hope to know that you all have some sort of number or range. I despise the "that's enough" mentality where you make judgments after seeing the data. I hope that you all place your numbers early and soundly to prevent any leniency after all of the data comes in. That being said, I appreciate you all looking at data in addition to all of the threads... perhaps we are all jumping the gun and are complaining too much. It would be very interesting to see what would happen if this announcement wasn't made. I would be willing to bet that, without incentive to play the deck, the deck might not have performed as well as it will because many very good players avoid it like the plague. Obviously, we can't run that experiment, but it would be very interesting... if anyone has any alternate dimensions available for studying, let me know ;DWell the reason I wont be discussing the data we intend to evaluate is precisely due to the skewed data issue you bring up.
Your (always a general your, not ShuckleLVX your) testing period begins the second BRs are over. If you start testing for HGSS-on as soon as your BRs are over, either a) you'll be right, or b) you'll have to go back to the deck you've used all season.
Even if the format is technically only a few days old, you'll have around a month to test stuff still. Ideal? No, but also not as bad as it looks on the surface.
I'm happy to hear that there might be a change before nats but...
If thats what they decide to do then we won't be able to test for nationals in a tournament environment, isn't that what spring battle roads is all about?
(Sorry if this alredy been mentioned, didn't read all the coments)
then you'll have people circling donk just to circle it and get HGSS-on nats.
Any rotation made will be HS-on.
It will either be 9/1 or 7/1
I reckon that they won't rotate before BRs cos it would be very confusing for the new/casual/very young players that go to them
People going to nats and worlds should be able to cope.
In that case, I will volenteer to play Uxie DonkYou know, if EVERYONE plays Sabledonk, then it won't prove a thing.
Just sayin'
