Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

How big will infernape 4/Luxray GL be?

LOL . . . are you being sarcastic?

Luxray GL is the best LV X in RR.

Infernape doesn't need Heatran, and Luxray doesn't need Quagsire. Mostly, you will Split Bomb with Infernape, only using Fire Spin to get key KOs (which Luxray will go fetch for you). If you need to use it twice in a row, you have Flint. NM/Aaron will recover the Energy you discard just fine. With Luxray, if you need to use Flash Impact, you can put the damage on a Crobat G or something and Poke Turn it.

If anything, it is going to be Infernape that will be cut from the deck when we get Blaziken FB.

I think you meant to say "infernape lvX" lol it can do T2 100, spread for 1 energy, 50 for 2 energy. Luxray's max is 70. i mean, bright look is nice and all, but you only get to use it once. you can use intimidating roar as many times as you like, i know its not as good, but it still helps pick of techs on the bench and get that last prize.

Nope, I meant Luxray. If that makes you lol, so be it.

Luxray is more splashable and will probably see competitive play for longer than Infernape.

And if you only get to use Bright Look once, you're doing it wrong.

Not really sure that you are wrong, but I have to point out that:

1. Palkia covers Ape & DP is probably going to run the fighting promo toxicroak so it has AR's weakness covered too.
2. Ape and Palkia are roughly equal in speed and attack costs. Dialga and Luxray both disrupt and do good stuff for just 1 nrg.
3. Ape X can do 20 more damage than Palkia X, but Palkia is far more flexable about where that damage gets done. Palkia also does more damage overall than Ape with the basic's attacks. Dialga can do more damage than Luxray ... but granted it will probably do less most of the time.

1. Ape does 20/20 for 1, Palkia does 20 for 1 and switchs. Both do 50 for 2, but Palkia does 50 to the bench. Palkia does 80 discard 2, Ape does 100, discard 2. Overall, Ape is better.
2. DP does do more damage, but Ray has a better overall presence in the game, as it can do 60 for 1, a Poke Reversal power, has free retreat . DP can benefit from Metal reduction, but Ape still OHKOs it.
3. Ape/Ray i say is faster because of the major overall damage output and the amount of prizes you get in the first few turns of the game. In most of my games played, I got prizes T2 and just drew more and more each turn. DP/Palkia does have major disruption, but Ape/Ray just have the right amount of damae output and powers to gurantee a prize every turn.

poketurn level up benched luxray doesn't work all the time like it seemlingly would.

No, it does. Luxray is one of the most disruptive lines in the game, only requiring one or two energy to start hitting. Infernape needs to discard energy to hit for good damage, otherwise, it's a simple 50. Not only that, but Infernape only works its full potential with two fire energy, while Luxray can afford an off element energy on him. Infernape is good, but compared to Luxray.. =/

good lux/nape lists don't run dialga g... you don't need it.

I hope the next time you play this deck you will SEE you NEED Dialga G because you will face a lone speed Mewtwo.

Dialga G is needed so you can successfully use Poison to not trigger fainting spell (shutting of Queen's body) and to make it so you have some kind of way to attack vs. Mewtwo. Remember, GOOD Mewtwo players are going to let the lone Mewtwo sit around and just keep attaching or hitting for 60 or 120, whatever it needs to do. The only other thing they are going to bench is probably another Mewtwo so they can level it up. Dialga G is a must in Luxray/Infernape IMO

But I don't see Mewtwo being such a threat since Gengar decks will still outweight the amount of SP decks at Nats. Machamp is also around, its a tech yes, but against those decks its a free prize.

Ape/Ray dosen't need Dialga G to be good. I wish people would stop saying " a GOOD" list has this and a "GOOD" player will do that. Because you never know what happens in a game nowadays.

True, and sorry, I even attempted not to use the word good.

I personally think there will be a lot of teching of Mewtwo at Nats. (maybe it's just me) I think Gengar decks (if they can find a way to still keep the deck consistent) will tech Mewtwo into the deck its self. I personally, if I am going to play this deck for Nats, will prepare for Mewtwo. Heck, i'm just gonna prepare for Mewtwo in general, it's a pretty good card for today's format. Plus, Dialga G can just be a pain in the butt with Deafen and Remove Lost

JMO

Yea I understand what your saying about preparing for Nats and what mite be there, but you don't want to over think and over tech, I did that last year and didn't do well because I teched so much for every matchup.

Keep the deck simple and honestly, that way its still consistent and matchups are easier to understand.Mewtwo won't be a problem that much since most decks won't want to jeopardize consistency over a tech.

Well - I'm convinced. Yay for the gym proving me wrong :D
I'm really starting to like the deck, and imo ninetails MT will help it a LOT. Like, woah, that's an AMAZING tech.

Does it matter? Queen and Skunktank counteract each other so after doing 100 with poison, once it comes back to your turn, Gengar will still be on 100, you just crobat it for the ko.

good lux/nape lists don't run dialga g... you don't need it.

Because they always retreat for a new gengar. So it will then be at 90...

Out of all the games I've played with the deck, I've found Gengar and Speedrill to be the most uphill. Flygon seems to exude a 50/50 because its random consistency dumps, but when it sets up perfectly, Flygon gets the upper hand.

Gengar's hard to work around, but I did manage to sneak a win yesterday by keeping the guy from even getting to Gengars (Despite him Trick Gassing me for a hundred turns.)

Speedrills issue is how fast it can come out and how fast it can deal the damage. If it manages to explode before you can get anything out there, it just might sweep.

And then theres Gardylade. I think I had the most agonizing time against this deck last week because I couldn't drag out potential threats or stop them from stealing my supporters, while my own Draw and powers couldn't be used.

This deck loses to kingdra and/or a 1/1 mewtwo tech. The gengar matchup is 50-50ish from what I have tested. Other than that, great deck.:/

If you lose to Kingdra with this deck, either you got a terrible setup or you're doing it wrong.

I dunno about that. Lux/Ape running Skuntank wouldn't be bad, it just needs to find the room for stadiums, which is a problem for me.

I'm not sure what are "good" or "the best" list(s) is/are, but this is still overall quite a good deck

This deck is a big hype. Imagine all the decks going to be played at Nats in a food web. It starts with Lux/Ape and other SP varients. This particular one is eaten by Machamp. Now, Machamp is eaten by Gengar and possibly Dialga G. Dialga G is eaten by
Lux/Ape and Flygon at times. It's hard to tell how good it will do if you look at the versitality of other decks.

this deck eats Machamp, 1-1 Toxitank ensures that. The deck has room for stadiums, which it should have anyway. This deck has a good chance vs the field. Its speed and disruption alone is enough for it to be a good play at Nationals and I won't be suprised if we see it there in large numbers.

yeah, well many great build of Lux/Ape won't have much room to incorporate Skuntank and some Stadiums. Machamp beats it if the Toxitank engine isn't part of the deck...
