MBRISIUS: We have already explored the Mightyena and Shiftry ideas (basically as anti-Banette). Here are the problems.
1. You need to run at least 2 PETM to be safe against prizing... this ruins the Celio... BUT Mizuki would then be the play, not PETM... and Mizuki seems (haven't tested) like a bad idea, with the return of a card to the deck (I could be wrong).
2. Poochyena/ Mightyena is fully weak to Fighting. This goes against the philosophy of the deck. Shiftry is doubly weak, which goes against my senses period. Seedot is weak to fire (Chimchar). These are FULL Weakness except for Seedot DP which is not that good. I bring up Weakness because you can't count on NOT starting with the tech. At Nats, I started with Sableye 5 of 13 times (including top cut games)!
3. They're EX, so you lose 2 prizes. Prize management is very important for Mario, especially if you have to come from behind. In actuality, there are better EX tech, but they all have the same problems.
4. Cessation Crystal and Battle Frontier shuts down your Mightyena's Poke-Power, which is one of its main attributes.
5. Banette CG (and other Safeguard) will stop your progress with Mightyena EX or Shiftry EX.
6. Energy necessity for Shiftry.
Now, here's reality. I played Banette once at Nationals. I did not start with Sableye in that game. The game was over very quickly. There would've been no time to get Mightyena or Shiftry either. Bottom Line: it sounds good on paper, but you need to open with the tech to beat Banette. That's in THIS format.
NEXT format, since Banette EX will not be there, I wouldn't be as worried. Although Banette CG is formidable and Banette DP3 is a sick little thing, they are as worrisome as Dusclops, which is *not very.* I've beaten Dusclops with just Machamp PK. We will also have Crystal Shard and Feint attack, and Sableye available.
~Sorry to be such a spoilsport... just being realistic.
Back to back posts merged. The following information has been added:
why suduwoodo? i dont get the point
and btw, team galatic's bet's a good card
Sudowoodo:
1. Basic, so it can fit easily
2. Fighting, so it fits the scheme
3. immediate beatdown for 20
4. offers disruption with Tempt
5. is no worse for Weakness than Nosepass HP (a good card also)
6. 80hp which is better than Nosepass HP
7. 1 retreat, which is good for the deck
I'm not real big on the Bonsly (slows it down), but it's not a bad idea so to get the Agility possibility. And both Mentorable, as Shiny said. If you use Bonsly, then 1 Great Ball/ 2 Mentor instead of the current concensus of 2 Great Ball/1 Mentor (or 3 Great Ball).
Team Galactic's bet: I'm really getting excited about the idea of disruption here. I would take out the Copycat, and leave the 2 Rowan/2 Steven's alone.
