Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Ontario Provincial Championships Info

only two days away and one more practice session. Friday is crucial, it will determine what deck everyone will be playing, me in particular.

Hope it's a good one!!!

All day Poke-practice for the next two days and saturday the BIG DAY!!! hope everyone's ready to bring their best, i just hope i can sleep the night before with all this excitement!!!

Feebas FTW.... hopefully just kidding

This will be a sad day somewhat for me, since it will be my last premier event that I'll be judging - I'm sorta semi-retiring. I'll still be kickin' around, but we'll see what the future brings. I hope this will be a great event. See you there.

Curtis: Darkrai is gross...ugh
Geneses: Yeah, 2 days away until we see who will rep at Nats:p
Garret: Well, at least you get to judge at a soon to become great tournament

Actually, it doesn't really matter if you win provincials it doesn't mean you're going to nationals. We had this discussion already.

You'll only get 300 bucks and the trip to Vancouver is 800 so winning provincials still won't pay EVEN HALF! Not to mention if you don't got a friend to stay with during your time there, you gotta pay for your hotel room as well...

The only way you can get a close to a FREE trip to nationals is if you win Provincials and Regionals you'll get 600 bucks and a free room at the hotel.

The worst part about this is that if you win provincials you actually have to GO to Vancouver to redeem your money otherwise, it's lost forever!!!

The best bet it to just go to Orlando straight and preform in grinders and if you lose there, you can always go to Disney World for the same price and odds as going to Nationals. :thumb:

I agree with Geneses, nationals isn't worth it this year. You'll probably see more people from Ontario in Grinders than in the Canadian Nationals.

No, I doubt it, Gordon lives out west. Alberta is a long ways from here. It's about as far away as Vegas is to Orlando - give or take. Here in Canada we have a player base that is on both sides of the country - but none in the middle. Even here in Ontario, players from some of the more northern leagues have never even been to any of the Canadian Nationals because it was too far away. Sure, it would be a bit more centralized if it was held somewhere around the Manitoba/Saskatchewan border, but since there's no leagues anywhere near there, no one would attend! Hope my little geography lesson helped.

Actually, if you win Regionals you get the full flight and hotel paid, and if you win provincials as well you get $300 on top of that, so it is possible to win a free trip.

lol Wooper, I think this is the thread you were looking for:

That's something i did not know!!

WOW!!! this makes it all the better to motivate all the players to try harder!

had you know told me that. i'd never even try and play a fun deck at regionals...

Yeah Regionals is the prize this year. Provincials although going to be fun and a great tourney is really just a serious practice round.

Ummm, they still play in July? Guffaw! More like "you should come down anyways and see the Vancouver Canucks golf swing!"

Well, I guess I will just have to win both  hahahaha j/k & sarcasm. I think I would rather win Regionals than Provincials now. One more day until we all meet for huge clashes; it is top 8 right (does 2/3 start in Top 8, 4, or 2???)

wow ... are you saying that Canadian National is only worth it if it's at Toronto ? or is it because World Championship is at Orlando this year ?

Bidier
Me personally I'm like $249.00 to orlando by plane or about a 22 hour drive (it's actually a real cool drive down too) I'm like $1400 to Vancouver for me and I have 2 girls that play.
From a $$ point which would you do Nats or Worlds?

Loved Vancouver I played there quite a bit when I was PPCLI.

My understanding Zach is that all of the top cut is best 2 of 3. However, the final call will have to be made by the organizer, in conjunction with the head judge. You'll have to wait until that time to be 100% positive.

Bidier, I was asked if I'd like to be shipped out to Vancouver to be a judge for Nationals. Plane ticket, and hotel. Believe me, it was a great honor to be asked. If I didn't have a religious convention at the same time, I would have considered it. Last year, you might have met my son at Nationals. He's a professor and judged Nats with me. Had I been able to go, I would have had a hard time, because it wouldn't have been fair for just me to go, and leave my son behind. You should know from your costs last year about whether it was worth it to go to Nats or not. Sure, you came in second, and therefore got a trip to World's last year. But what if you hadn't? That's a huge gamble. I don't blame anyone if they said they didn't like the odds, and didn't think they could reasonably go to Nationals - whether they are from Campbell River, Barrie or St Johns. I guarantee the trip will be worth it to go to World's if anyone can do so, but geography just isn't on everyone's side here in Canada - in ANY year. Hey, I know what we should do! Have BC, Alberta and Ontario each form their own country, and we can all be happy pokemon players, each with their own Nationals!

you should come down anyways, and see the Vancouver Canucks

I'm a pretty big Canuck fan, (saw them both times they played in DET this year) but unfortunatly, They'll have already won the cup by the time Nationals rolls around
