Petition for the new POP format.

i can guarantee that 95% of the people that say they're gonna quit wont. POP knows what they're doing and I'm sure they're not gonna run this game into the ground. You guys need to put a little bit of trust in POP or at least WAIT until they actually announce details :/

I think the folks at POP read this forum enough to see what others are saying about their decisions without the need for a petition. Remember what happened w/the sleeves ruling?

Absolutely nothing. =\
The pokeball sleeves are only legal because the japanese work hard to get them.

There is two sides to this coin, which is why I don't think I'm going to sign this.

I am a League Leader in my city, and every time I go to my league, I see what I want to see: dedicated players who are battling their butts off trying to get a better understanding of the game. I think what this move is going to do is eliminate the middle man. It is my understanding that there is a lot of people who don't live in heavily populated areas who will miss out on their chances to go, but lets lay out a situation.

Child A goes to league every chance he/she can get. They may not have every last damn card to make a super spectacular deck that will win every time, but they try and are almost always happy to sit down and play another person who shares the passion FOR THE GAME.

Child B plays enough Pokemon to know what can win. He/She plays at home, on apprentice, trying to figure out combinations of cards that will win. He/She buys boxes upon boxes of cards and makes an archetype deck to take to cities/nats/worlds after months of playtesting and convincing themselves that a deck can win, show up for one tournament (like Nats or Regionals), wins, and gets a trip to worlds.

Now, I know I'm being a little snarky, but I'd rather send the child to worlds who went out of his/her way to show up to all the events ready to play. I'd rather not send the same damn people to worlds every damn year just because they show up once to blow a bunch of other kids out of the water.

A very good point is made here. While Player B might look like a good customer, the amount of resorces that must be used to maintain that customer is immense compared to Player A, and in fact a lot of A's are needed to support the B's. Of course, the A's don't really need the B's-the game merely becomes a hobby without them.

Interpet that as you will.

And as a person whose had some experience with petitions, I'd say you're better off settig up a web site where you can track signatures more effectively. Of course, I'm not necessarily in support of all this.

There's another point I would like to add. There are also kinds of people who never buy boxes or packs. The only way to get what they need is by trading. The deck that those people make may vary. It could be rogue or an archetype. My personal opinion is that not all of these people win all the time. The only players who win are those who are truly skillful, not those who just show up once in a while to play.

The new black border sleeves give PUI something a little called MONEY. and apperently they LOVE GATHERING MONEY.

Not to mention those sleeves have stupid and ultimately unrecgonizable pokemon on them, NOT satisfying the player base. =/

Wrong. Worlds is about who's the best player, not who spends more time on the game. Child B deserves to go to worlds.

Who's more likely to be sucessful at recruiting and maintaining new members?

Are you insinuating that removing competitive play from Pokemon would be good for the game?

Hardly. I'm merely implying that people who appear rarely probably aren't the most important factor in growing the game.

I will not sign this. I need to see how it will work. I have many worries but have to see how this will work. I do know if this adds more tournaments that I can attend and the points work fairly then don't have a problem with that part. The others depends on how it works out. I do think that I would prefer that the age to work off the age at the start of the tournament year which is September.

Why do you even bother with this. posted on the world wide web. People in Europe check the site and see a new change. You cant change the whole world's format on 1 site.

I'll sign.
This system is going nowhere.
The onlything that can make me change my mind is if they fix in a ratio.

Nothing can change it to make it better but place:#tourneys ratio

EDIT:
It's clearly spelled out that only people with enough money for extensive and frequent travel can really make it to worlds.
Really, someone mediocre can get more points than a 1st place winner if they go to enough premier events.

Speaking of which, I may become good this year.
I didn't have a good chance last season, I just started, with a crappy deck.
I really don't have enought money to be able to attend 10+ premier events.

In fact, it's not even people not being able to travel that's bothering me.
It's that the enthusiasts are attending many, MANY more events than most others.
