Lets say this is a bad move right. Which it isn't by PUI. But we need to see how the format is ran this year to see. I guarantee by this time next year many of you whom who said this was a bad move will be applauding what a great move PUI has made.

Suck it up and adapt son or just suck and leave

seems like ppl who enjoys the tcg wont be able to enjoy anymore stuff

and ppl who says "it hasnt started, why complain?" obviously u dont understand wats happening...u will join the Forces Of Complains soo....

Cry me a river. It amazes me to see everyone complain for when something gets cut in this game. About 80% of you don't really care about what happens internationally, where its been basicly win nats and get to worlds, and here in the U.S, you have at least five-six chances to get into worlds, consider yourself lucky that you've had this many chances to play in worlds the previous three years. But when it affects you, a eruption of complaints, it aint fair, its so stupid happens. Welcome to life folks! Do any of you think about who runs these events? How many volunteer's are required to bring you all these events that are held at worlds, it helps POP out a great lot by not needing so much staff to run things. But TRUK!, I wanna play in worlds, yah okay, be a consistant winning player this year, not donking out one tournament to get into worlds. This is better for the game, like it or not. Plus, if this event is unsuccessful, they can always go back to the old format, but i highly doubt that'll happen. Which, IMO. Will be less of a legit event of determining the best player. Its a half of field less, full of the worlds best players, not the best of the american players. The 2004-2006 Worlds Format IMO was an Invite US Nationals with International Players.

btw, Martin is the UNDEFEATED National Champion :D.

I don't think anyone realizes how much of an improvement this is, considering that we'll never see the same amount of trips to worlds again. You'll never get that petition across because you're essentially asking nintnedo to burn up more money for your trip to kona, which isn't that great of a spot to begin with.

What this means for players in very competitive areas, is they don't need to win every single event to get a shot at worlds. All you really need to do is place well in each tournament you enter and get a decent record. It does mean that you have to attend a lot of tournies, but trips should go to the players who take the time to attend as many events as possible in the first place, these are the people who show the most interest and most likely spend the most money. It's just too bad some player can't donk his way through a gc any more, but that really isn't supposed to happen in the first place.

EDIT: Go TRUK!!!!

AJ, you've made the most cogent and undemeaning arguement for your side. Although I can't say that I agree (after all, the cloncept of anybody winning on any given day is an alluring and storied concept), you're not resorting to insults and petty derisions.

OK. What do you guys want. Do you guys basically just want PUI to say "ok worlds isnt that important. It's not about the best players playing each other to determine the best in the worlds. And as a result we'll spend all the money we have to send everyone who wants to a trip to hawaii to be there can be there. While we're at it. Instead of making you buy the pokemon cards we'll just give them away for FREE!!!

AH SNAP!!
I was born in June of 91! Dang, just missed it.

OK these changes are DUMB!!
No Grinder (not like anybody can afford it unless they live there anyway), No Gym, and NATS is the only way to get your invite aside from Ranking.
ONLY 64 players at worlds!!!!!!!
OMG! this makes me mad.
I am signing this. I will not quit though.
BUT it is hard enough for me to make it to tournaments anyway. This is so FAT!
I mean not everybody can travel to tons of major tourneys every year.

I am NOT signing. Go start your own OP.

I have AGREE with :
+ AGE GROUPS Methods (Most folks think only on how it effects them and their bracket.)

I understand:
+ Less Invites to a place such as Hawaii.

I don't like
+ ELO CHESS method for determining invites.

Just let it go...wait until the time comes...Everything that TRUK said is right, ya know.

/agree lol...nicely said!

The way it is now, the discrepancy in difficulty for earning an invite is HUGE between different countries.
It's an obvious problem when it's many many times harder to get an invite here than in a foreign country. That means things are still not fair.

Remember guys, the US has 54% of the players in the world- if we get shafted, that means the MAJORITY of OP members get shafted. Stop thinking of the minority and start thinking of the majority.

Ryan - We don't actually *know* that 54% thing. That 54% is only of the people who signed up for a My Pokemon account. Considering the enormous language barriers seen Internationally, it's no surprise that the English speaking countries have the large majority of signups at an English website. A much better way to determine this is to compare the size of the National Tourneys (though even this isn't perfect, given the relative sizes of countries). Here's what I could find...

US - 536
Canada - 110
Mexico - 428
Argentina - 39
Austria - 17
Belgium - 59
Chile - 84
Czech Republic - 22
Germany - 130
Denmark - 39
Ecuador - 22
Finland - 59
France - 107
UK - 67 + 63 + 45 = 175
Italy - 29 + 33 + 26 = 88
Malaysia - 128
Netherlands - 28
Norway - 79 + 42 + 30 = 151
Philippines - (not reported)
Portugal - 52
Sweeden - 67
Singapore - 29
Slovenia - 26
Total = 2396
US Percentage = 22.3%

Though we had the highest Nationals, Mexico still came close, and there were 5 other countries with much smaller total populations that managed to pull over 100 people. The US might have a majority of active players, but it is not a demanding majority, nor is it particularly dominating in International events. Also, I have absolutely no idea what constitutes a "National Championships" in Japan, nor do I know the number of people in said tournament, which will definately skew the numbers more towards the US being more of a minority.

Netherlands had over 100 Players this year at their Nationals.
And Denmark around 100.
You only found the 10 and under results.

BTW Netherlands was in 2005 the 3th country with a Nationals attendance of 166.
