Petition for the new POP format.

I'd really like to know what exactly was wrong with the old format. :|

This is basically one of those ways for a company to get money and popularity, despite their fanbase losing interest.

POP is going to the point where they want their fans to go on a world tour to get to worlds. ._.

I'll sign.
This system is going nowhere.
The onlything that can make me change my mind is if they fix in a ratio.

Nothing can change it to make it better but place:#tourneys ratio

its going nowhere because IT HASN'T STARTED YET.
i'm not in favor of the new system, but i'm not afraid of change.
i refuse to sign. i don't think this is POP's best move, but i'm going to wait and see how things go down before i make a final judgement.

I really dont know what age group im in now :(??? im sooo confused, lol, i understood that i was going to 15+ on my b-day but now i hear things like ppl 15 will play in 11-14 im like so like confused :p

Basically, this change makes it so that different countries have more similar opportunities to play in Worlds. The fact that inferior players from some countries make it in while excellent American players miss the cut, basically makes Worlds a country vs country tournament, to decide the winning country rather than being solely about the single best player in the world. If one country has 4 times as many skilled soccer players than another, they still have to narrow it down to one team that represents their country.

I'm not saying that I love the system, but there is a degree of fairness to it. If you're looking for individual competition on a high level, I bet Nationals will be a blast this year. Although, it is regrettable to no longer have the same opportunity to have loads of talented American and Japanese players all in one tournament.

Ill sign it
The new format may scare off some newbies....
because the same kids will win over and over tring to get as many points as poss.

No Signature from me. I like this new format...POP finally see that worlds is not just "America and Friends" ( no offense, but based on the results of the past 3 years...ya know)...it gives every country a chance...I mean, why are you guys complaining about your Gym Challenges? we didnt even get them. IMO, the new invitational structure makes the World Championships much larger in terms of competition.

Not signing.

It means less downtime during the season for people who like to play big tournaments often.
So there's almost no chance t get to worlds now, boo-hoo. I can name at least 1 person who went 3 years in a row and subsequently get donked each time. This system will keep those type of people out of there for good hopefully.

I for one will vote for the creation of a "Pro Championship" event that you'd have to win at least 1 Premier event to participate in. It could be held at the same time as worlds only on the opposite coast. Like.... NYC! (yay I get to name drop!) That alone would make up for the ever shrinking worlds. ^_^
Prizes would be higher than Nationals but less than Worlds. This would be possible to make if they don't add free trips to this event, just an invite. (+ maybe $300 for bigger event wins, like they do for states.)

One other thing before I go. I do notice most people from overseas are heavily posting thinking that this whole thing means more trips/invites equally for them.

I think you guys are still gonna have the same results with trips as previous years, if not worse #'s.
Not because of this new structure, but because your local distibutors will still be unable to afford it.
Only POP can help that if they send these trips to you guys directly, which I've yet to see happen.

You guys really are jumping the gun with this one. I think you'll find that this K-value based system will work out just fine. People are overhyping the traveling part. You really don't have to travel a ton for this to work out. Even so though, look at the premier events. You can't tell me that Cities is too far to travel, and States really shouldn't be either (assuming your state has a States). Then there is Nationals that everyone should really be at if they think they deserve to be at WORLDS. And there's the new Battle Road or whatever, who knows how that will work. The only Premier event that leaves out is Regionals. I know Worlds is a ton of fun, and it's great to hang out with the entire Pokémon community, but you really only deserve to goto Worlds if you're the best, and this new system seems like it will do a better job of that.

I think the new system will still give everyone a fair shot at getting to worlds. Just wait and see. You know POP won't change anything just because of this thread.

Yeah, POP made a horrible move.

Already, almost 10 people have considered quitting just by reading the thread posted by Kevin89; and I'm one of them.

And ryanvergel put this perfectly: "Who does this benefit?" According to the new rules, POP claims they "feel that the benefits far outweigh the disadvantage." I'd like an explanation. This is also going to hurt the younger age groups to be playing with people nearly 5 years older. In the "new" 11-14 (or Senior Division; whatever. ._.), children who have recently turned 11/12 can be playing with teenagers as old as 15 going on 16. That's just unfair.

Bring back the old rules, this is the worst thing that ever happened to the TCG.

Obviously, you weren't around when WotC killed the 15+ division alltogether! :nonono:

It is NOT the worst thing to happen, heck, it hasnt even started yet and you willy nillys wont even give it a TRY yet??? hmmmmm

The folks at PUI didnt just fall off the apple cart yesterday and land this plum job in Seattle WA

You guys started a petition about something you haven't even tried or fully understand? Wow.

Just give the new system a try and then start complaining.

To all of these people complaining, name me a game where you can get to Worlds easier than Pokemon.

There is two sides to this coin, which is why I don't think I'm going to sign this.

I am a League Leader in my city, and every time I go to my league, I see what I want to see: dedicated players who are battling their butts off trying to get a better understanding of the game. I think what this move is going to do is eliminate the middle man. It is my understanding that there is a lot of people who don't live in heavily populated areas who will miss out on their chances to go, but lets lay out a situation.

Child A goes to league every chance he/she can get. They may not have every last damn card to make a super spectacular deck that will win every time, but they try and are almost always happy to sit down and play another person who shares the passion FOR THE GAME.

Child B plays enough Pokemon to know what can win. He/She plays at home, on apprentice, trying to figure out combinations of cards that will win. He/She buys boxes upon boxes of cards and makes an archetype deck to take to cities/nats/worlds after months of playtesting and convincing themselves that a deck can win, show up for one tournament (like Nats or Regionals), wins, and gets a trip to worlds.

Now, I know I'm being a little snarky, but I'd rather send the child to worlds who went out of his/her way to show up to all the events ready to play. I'd rather not send the same damn people to worlds every damn year just because they show up once to blow a bunch of other kids out of the water.
ill sign in a heartbeat.
and i highly disagree with the above post. ill rather see someone with actuall skill going to worlds. this format will have noobs that play often, and wut if someone has to miss tourniy due to an apointment of some kind? their chances of getting to worlds will get shot. someone with passion for the game, should indeed go to all the tournuies. and make time to go on the gym to find out wut decks to play, and almost all the players that i know that was at worlds last week, did have passion for the game, i kno i do...

That Hauntastic guy has a good point...there is a fine line between who has skill and who actually deserves to go to such an event.

Bring back the old rules, this is the 2ND worst thing that ever happened to the TCG.

P.S. Haha Austin's talking about me XD
