Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Pokemon TCG Online multiplayer build delayed until 8/22

The maintainance announcement on the website, plus the updates here should be enough.

Games on every platform get delayed all the time. We don't need to know the details. What are we going to do? Help them with fixing the bugs? I don't think so.

It's ready when it's ready.

And then people will complain and whine abut them NOT giving a release date.

Yep.

They gave their best guess at the time. I dunno why anyone would take that as a promise.

They shouldn't keep making promises that they can't deliver. They need to stop putting down release times and then delaying them constantly.

They didn't PROMISE anything.

I agree with cabd-It's clear half of you have never coded anything in your lives. When a bug is found, it can take a VERY long time to not only find the bad code, but also to correct any underlying issues relating to that bug. (As a really "out there" example, if the code to discard energy for attacks is broken, once it is corrected, if the error is bad enough all cards referencing that code would have to be edited)

There is no guarantee they can or have given us. I'm glad they've given us the estimates as it is.

The development team is making some solid progress in resolving yesterday's issues. If things continue to progress at the rate they are, we should have multiplayer available later this evening.

awesome. thats dedication right there by working non-stop to get it fixed. pokemon wants to make the Cusumers happy. awesome thanks for the Update.

Good things to know, but take as much time as you need and don't let people annoy you with their expectations. I would even wait another month for getting a bug free version if it would be needed.
However thanks for reporting us.

And @ all complaining:
I don't know if you ever tried to make a game. Even if you have a prescripted database as with the RPG Maker XP Pokemon starter kit, it takes so incredibly long to do everything.
And in this special case they need to add two new sets with a lot of new mechanics and additionally try to implement the multiplayer...
You should be happy they even give you a release date and don't just say "It's done when it's done!"

I've actually coded games, so I feel qualified to speak. I, personally, don't have a problem with the fact multiplayer has been gone for so long or that the whole site needed to go down. I think my main annoyance/frustration comes from the repeated missed self-imposed deadlines. In my industry (and their industry as well) having the ability to accurately forecast and hit deadlines is a big deal.

Like I said in another thread, just say "coming soon" or "Under maintenance be back later" instead of imposing a deadline and then repeatedly missing it (there have been about 3 different times posted on the site today alone).

So yes, do what you have to do to get it right, but also realize when you're dealing with customers and end users that you must work to properly set and maintain expectations.

Also...for those "Wah, it's been XYZ hours" people, you have to remember the Liesik and crew most likely did, you know, sleep?

I really am sick of the complaining, and now am looking forward to the release of the game more to shut some mouths rather than the game itself :-/.

A pattern I've noticed:
People who have coded things:
Be patient. It will come sometime soon.
People who haven't coded things:
THE TCGO IS TERRIBLE AT MAKING GAMES AND THEY KEEP ON DELAYING STUFF BLAH BLAH BLAH

Thanks for the update sir. Good luck with what you guys are working on, and keep up the good work! Super pumped to get into the game.

I think the reason that people are frustrated is because the last staff kept promising things that never came. If you remember, we were promised gems in November 2011, and here we are 9 months later. On the first day of the new multiplayer release, we have nothing to look at but the dreaded maintenance lady. Yes, I would encourage people to be patient, but it's understandable to be cranky at this point. At this point, though, I'm sure Mike and the PTCGO staff are well aware of what people are expecting, so cut them some slack.

do you think the game willl be up (or at least the website to redeem codes) in 2 hours from now (or should i just go to bed :p ?)

I would just go to bed if I were you. Mike said it wouldn't be till later this evening and that was only a couple of hours ago..
And that's if things continue to go well... I've been through enough releases that I would just sit back and wait till it's up. Leave the computer and go find something else to do for the next 12-24 hours. The servers are going to be swamped when they do release it so....

I've never coded a thing in my life and I encourage people to be patient.

People are working as hard as they can to get it ready and we KNOW some of them are reading this thread...do people think mocking their abilities is gonna make them get if fixed quicker?

To be honest, having a time is a necessary evil. On one side you are waiting and waiting for a game to launch. On another side you could just go about your day and come back later or around the end time given to see if the game was launch. Many MMO companies do this to make sure their consumers aren't completely out of the blue as to when the game will be out of maintenance.
