Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Pokemon TCG Online multiplayer build delayed until 8/22

To be honest, having a time is a necessary evil. On one side you are waiting and waiting for a game to launch. On another side you could just go about your day and come back later or around the end time given to see if the game was launch. Many MMO companies do this to make sure their consumers aren't completely out of the blue as to when the game will be out of maintenance.

Yup, I'd agree there. I think in this case though, with the time constantly moving, it's clear they may not be 100% certain themselves of when they will be ready. In that case, I'd err on the side of caution and give a date. I'd post a message that the game will be available by 8/23 or something. Using that logic, if they had posted "by the end of the day" or similar, they wouldn't have had to move the date and they would have been accurate.

I guess my main point is: if you aren't confident of a specific time, don't specify one. Give yourself wiggle room. Bugs can be tricky, and even when those are worked out there's a lot of testing before you roll out (and of course tons of users slamming the servers at once when the game is finally online will add a whole new level of complications). I think they just need to be better at managing expectations.

I'm so mad its taking so long, but happy they are fixing the bugs before they release it . i hate when companies release broken games COUGH COUGH THQ .

See the pro play would be to say that its gonna take a long time to get the game up again but then release it before the deadline so that everyone thinks your amazing.
It does make sense why people are getting a bit upset but their is nothing that we can do so we just need to sit tight.

Epic Fail.......maybe my earlier prediction of August 21, 2013 is a safe gamble. j/k

I hope it gets resolved quick and good luck guys.

I wonder if PTCGO and the real life card game share the same budget. If so I wouldn't be surprised why this is taking so long, because the budget would be stretched so thin that they lack staff, etc

The release candidate was just pushed to the servers. Over the next few hours, the developers, moderators, QA team and TPCi staff will be testing this build full bore. If everything checks out at the end of this testing window, the game will come out of maintenance and multiplayer will be available to the public.

Just downloaded the new version. I see they fixed the invisible username bug :thumb:
Now just have to wait until they open up the servers.

Thank you for all your hard work, guys.

I'm actually surprised that the relaunch of the multiplayer happened so fast. Your dev team are champs!

Yes, I want to agree with that last post. Thanks Mike--this level of communication is unprecedented and much appreciated. So happy to have you on this project, which could become so important for the brand and the game.
