Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

So what exactly does Luxape lose to anyways?

Archtypes I mean, with standard builds.

I'm having a tough time finding one consistent loss.

Bibarel/Mismagius, best deck in format!!!!!11!11

Luxape is a solid deck. The deck capable of beating it most is a good flygon, but even then, most luxape's run ninetales which can really help. Still, i reckon it's just in Flygon's favour, but it's in no way a BAD match-up for luxape.

go play it at worlds people!!

Gechamp beats it consitently, and even though ive never played it with flygon, it seems like Flygon beats it pretty consistently too. not to mention straight Champ. oh and PLOX. so lets recap, IMHO Luxape loses to Gechamp Machamp Flygon and PLOX consitently.

Luxape can lose to Flygon and Plox - if they get set up. Luxape can rush those decks out and taking out the Claydol and support quick enough will kill both those decks, as they are pretty slow comapred to the rest of the metagame. However if Plox and Flygon do get set up, then yes they beat Luxape.

Luxape is about 50/50 with a good Legos. Beedrill also isn't the greatest matchup for it JUST because of the shear speed of the deck.

First off, Luxape can beat ANY deck in format, without much disadvantage. If Luxape goes off, it will win nearly every time. Decks like Flygon and Plox can only stand a chance if Luxape doesn't go off, which will only be about 20% of the time. Palkia can be tricky, the match up is fairly even.

I would say that the only legitimate bad match up for Luxape is GeMa, and that's not a very good deck to begin with anyways.

Yes, Palkia Lock is fairly even with LuxApe, but PAlkia Lock has many tricks up its sleeves. There are so many different ways to disrupt LuxApe's setup when playing against a PAlkia Lock deck.

I beat quite a few Luxapes with Gardylade during pickup tournaments Nationals week, and the Psychic Lock really wrecks their setup if you're playing it properly.

Good Palkia Lock also stops them dead. Bees gets beaten by it consistently and I'm not seeing much threat from Gechamp thanks to Unown G'd Ninetales in addition to the fact that Gechamp really is not a great deck.

That deck sounds really redundant, why use two cards that do the same thing?

I see what you're saying, but they don't exactly do the same thing. One ko's if they are basics, the other one hits you for playing tools and stadiums.

If you GUARD your Pokemon because of Machamp, they will make you pay for it by sending out Relicanth. It's the same with Gengar.

I do think that smart players can manage their tools and stadiums so that Relicanth's damage won't be as effective. Relicanth as a tech will be a force to be reckoned with though.

Unfortunately BibMagius never made it to archtype status =/

I was thinking Machamp/GeChamp was the only bad match-up too but I really don't expect there to be much at Grinders anyways. Other than that, as been mentioned, I don't see a real unfavorable match-up for Luxape lol

its all about setup.

Ive played against LuxApe with beedrill, and went 2-1 in very close matches. Beedrill can beat luxape, if they can get all 4 beedrill out within 3 turns.

Also trying it with a champ variant, I went 3-0 with champ, and didnt get a single one turn win. Heck, I even was getting nailed in a game, and still came back cause I drew into what I needed. I think the Variant im using may swing LuxApe into below 50% win rate against the deck.

^ Exactly. If Bees can start 1HKO'ing anything, even with Lucario GL, Crobat G drops and High Jump Kicks - that takes 2 energy to use. Unless you run Flint's/Raquaza, Bees will hit Luxape for energy problems.
