Even if the player makes "lively" moves and still takes 5-7 mins for a turn, a judge CAN give an extention to be fair to the other player! But, the judge needs to be called over in enough time to moniter a turn or 2. we cannot just take a players word on it. We need some evidence of slow play.

The elimination of clocks would be fantastic IMO and the same with time announcements. As a judge, if I see a player then checking their watch often, that gives me more evidence of "playing the clock".

While the number of turns may be equal (or one off), the turns themselves are not. "Time of posession" is not just a football term-it applies to this game as well. A strong disconnect between the sides is often the sign of a lopsided game, in which one side dictates how the other operates.

Nobody likes being told what to do 75% of the time or more. That's called work.

I would rather have a 30 minute time limit. I have lost so many times on time, but you know what? It doesn't matter. It's been this way forever. =)

Great Thread Aaron I do agree that we need more time because I lost my top 32 match on time if I had 2 more turns = to 5 more min I would have won and I also agree that G&G should be banned for worlds its way to cheap:nonono:. And Aaron did you get my pms?

We the players of the Pokemon TCG do NOT want more time. Sorry but you really don't need that much time to think with decks like empoleon. Here's an idea. If you say GG players take such long turns why don't you think about what you're going to do on their turn?

And when I do so and its still not enough ?
I mostly know what I will do in my next turn when i'm still playing my own turn, still not fast enough :/

From what I've been reading, players may be able to take up knitting with the time allowed.

30 minutes and one more turn.
See my petition below.

Judging, you guys try, but you can't be more than 30% effective. And that would be the best of you.

Last year in Worlds,... My non-english playing opponent last turn, he played a Holon Trans to search his deck, THEN he search's his Discard pile and pulls out and plays a Holon Adventurer... Did I say I was at Worlds.... I call the Judge, he sees this guy doesn't speak english, He has to call a translator,
I ask if I am going to get a time extension... he says he will see... The translator get's there.. explains to this MASTER player at WORLDs, that one can't go into his discard pile after searching his Deck. How Long do you think this took???.. My Opponent continues his turn, I ask if I get a time extension... No. Game Ends. And Yes, I could have tied it. Sour Grapes, well not really because I should have tied it the turn before, but I made the silly mistake of thinking I would have gotton another turn.

Funny my Petition Thread has been below for about 18 Months. Sorry, Judges, you can't always get it right, you can't be everywhere and there for the whole game . It would have been nice if Judges would admit that they can't police everything and everywhere. In real world, we correct things by designing better systems, ones that don't require too much human intervention to go smoothly. The 30 and 1 more turn would help this time/stalling issue, with out any judge intervention.

30 Minutes and One More Turn. (And also allow judges to police the pace of play as they try to do now.)

Please, if you think people aren't doing that already, your horribly mistaken. I lost to gg in game 3 of top cut at a BR due to time (I think there was about 15-20 minutes left) and my turns were 12 seconds each. GG simply takes 5-7 minutes a turn. :nonono:

Great. So build a deck that beats it. Make something that gets ahead in prizes. I really don't care. This constant whining just gets really old really fast.

So does the lack of logic. Going ahead on prizes? Banbliss did that AND ran cess and beach and still didn't have a great matchup against plox.

Why don't I finally say something... We all do plan during our opponents turn. I take like 1 minute turns. Okay, no problem. But then comes the problem with my opponent. Sometimes, they don't bother thinking and look at other games. When it's their turn, they think of what supporter to play, what to send out active, who to attach the energy to etc. And they're not stalling. They're just not planning ahead. When it's my turn, I play my energys down asap, play my supporter, Claydol, attack. and then I'm done. But my opponents take too much time thinking.

Ideally, I'd just want unlimited time, period, but we all know how unfeasible that is =\

After I set my game up, on my first turn, I will get some dinner delivered to my table and eat. Then, after a nice 45 minute to 1 hour dinner, I will take a nice relaxing nap (maybe 4 or 5 hours), to bleed off the stresses of the day so far. Then, I will ask for a restroom break, so I can clean up (another hour). Then, I will talk with my buddies, discuss the current matches, get some advice - I me, we do have unlimited time right? Then I will draw a card. Then what.....

Unlimited is not feasible in any way possible.

Note - During this 7-8 hour first turn, I was at the table for all time, except the time I was given for a restroom break. Totally within my rights for the turn, as it is unlimited.

I see this happening in real life if we go to unlimited.

World's 2009 - one month (all of August - we hope).

This is total sarcasm, but with unlimited time, who knows what would happen.

G&G will be gone after this rotation, or at least slowed down so most ppl won't play it. There will be other decks, and always will there be people that don't play fast enough to suit other players.

Great. So build a deck that beats it. Make something that gets ahead in prizes. I really don't care. This constant whining just gets really old really fast.

People have been trying to do that all season and not gotten anywhere, save maybe arithmatic (which was not a COMPLETE COUNTER)

However I tend to agree that 30 min is best.
If they increased it 5 min, I think that would help. Just 5.

I understand why there are not 45 min games. TIME. Think about it every round takes roughly on average 35 min because someone is in sudden death or got a time extension. It takes about 10-15 min. depending on the computer's cooperation, to get results in and printing pairings, not to mention that during this time players have a chance to reshuffle thier decks and take a breather.

It we had 45 min. games then we assume the rounds take 50 min. with another 10-15 for results to go in a pairing to be ready. Nats ended at 12:00 AM for swiss in MA. We had 9 rounds, had it been 45 min rounds it probably would have been 1:00 or 2:00 esspecially considering some 30 min rounds went to 45 min rounds.

So I think that logically the things that could be done would be:
Add 5 min. (not a lot, but still something)
Add a "both players finish a turn" clause to the rules.
