Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

What Decks are smart to play at Regionals? What decks will see the most play?

You got lucky as she is a skilled player. Player skill being equal a good Machap list should beat a good Dialga G/Palkia G list 4 out of 5 times. One G is not ennough, not when they can Warp Pt, Pokeblow up your bench for the OHKO. Enjoy this while you can next set Hippodon X will make this pairing completely unpairable.

Unlesss... anyone know the Japanese ruling on Sand Reset? If it get power sprayed on one turn can it be used the following turn?

lol actually, I know for a fact I didn't get lucky cause evidently she was topdecking like crazy, and she beat me that one game out of 3. but I beat her the other two.

Look, I know I'm gonna sound like a jerk, but just stop posting about how bad you think Palkia/Dialga is!!! Tina is a skilled player, no doubt. BUT (I don't care if this is conceited) I would consider myself one of the best players in Texas (according to rankings I'm number 1 in TX and 8 in NA) and I think I know what I'm talking about. It's getting SOO old. Palkia/Dialga is a beast right now. I can attest to this as I went 10-1 at Texas States with a Palkia G build. Only losing in the finals to a mirror match. But you obviously have no clue because you haven't tested with or against the deck efficiently.

Any good player realizes that the deck is good when played in the right hands.

I played Tina in Top 8 and beat her 2-1. Yes, she started with a Regirock in hand every game, but neither her luck or my luck aside from that was that bad. I would say we had 3 very legitimate games. Power Sprays and Mesprit Lock can and does stop Machamp. And 1 Unown G was enough for me. Playing any more can screw your consistency in other matchups.

This whole thread you have been arguing with everybody about how you don't understand why people think Palkia/Dialga is such a good deck. Obviously, you have no experience with the deck and I can't really acknowledge you as a knowledgeable player if you can't see why it is so popular and why it works so well.

Now, I will say this. Palkia/Dialga will be a very predictable choice for states. People will be expecting it and teching against it. BUT, if people are gonna tech against it, then it OBVIOUSLY must have had some impact on the metagame.

JapanPDS: Don't take my comments too seriously, I'm just trying to get you to shut up, to be blunt. Because I honestly don't feel that you really know what a good Palkia/Dialga deck looks like or how it's played. Not necessarily your fault either. Just understand that many of the top players in this game play or have played this deck, and know it's potential.

Machamp isn't an auto loss.
You should play 1 Unown G, and then you have Mesprit lock along with Power Sprays. If you get those going, then you stop their setup. Also, a G'd Uxie can act as a sufficient wall, hitting 50 for 1 and then 50 and bounce the next turn.
Also, a G'd Palkia/Dialga can last a while depending on their flips.

I dunno, maybe I just got lucky, but I felt it was a matchup in my favor when I played Tina in States.

Its not an auto-loss, I should rephrase that, but its definitely not in your favor either. I ran 2 Unown G just because of that matchup and I still couldn't beat said Machamp deck.

Granted, I did get around one Round 1, and dealt with a tech accordingly Round 2. If you get set up decently and Machamp runs into whiffs, then its a little better, but if you can't get anything going, good luck.

^ That loses to other beasts named Gengar and Kingdra.

IMHO, there is no BDIF right now because of all the diversity.

Unlesss... anyone know the Japanese ruling on Sand Reset? If it gets power sprayed on one turn can it be used the following turn?

I would assume since the power hasn't been used yet, that it doesn't count as the "once per game" rule.

There is no BDIF, but there is a set Tier 1 for the first time.

1. Dialga/Palkia
2. Machamp
3. Gengar
4. ToolBox

No set order, but i think Toolbox would be last. They all beat each other respectively. Im sure that people will agree with me that this is the tier 1 list for Regionals.

Now I'm going to assume some stuff, but I kinda agree with you that there's no BDIF(Super Deck?). There IS a lot of diversity right now, and from what I've seen a lot of things can counter themselves as well as other decks, With the dawn of the SP generation, the gane has definately changed and I don't think we'll be able to acurately gauge anything until we see the next few sets.

It's just my opinion is all. One thing I CAN say, is you'll definitely have plenty of options for decks to take to regionals; I think a lot of the battle of the decision is going to come down to how you can play the deck you choose

Now if you have been on the Gym for any lenght of time then two things should be plain as day to you now. One is, do not worry, I dont get bothered by what other people say or think about me and or my posts. And two and most impotantly nothing anybody says or does will ever "shut me up" A lot of higher ups then you have valintly trided to do so over the years with absolutly no success at all .(If you dont belive me just ask my wife she has been failing to quiet me for years now)

Now back to the issue at hand I am glad you did well with the deck but yes I did see it plenty at states. I beat it in the R6 of Swiss at the Washington State championship. when we were both 5-0. And I lost to it to annother player using in Oregon State Championship when we were both 3-0. and I lost in sudden death when time was called. I had the return KO all lined up but never got the chance to answer back. I was not impressed with either deck, The players who I saw playing it usually play much more challeneging decks. I really think this deck was beneath thie usual quality of the decks they typically use, So I think I have seen just as good of lists as you use. So I feel that can make an educated judgement on it. There are better decks out there then this one for sure. Its not the worst but its not the best either. There is just nothing about the deck that scares me at all.

(Oh and not that it means anything at all but for the record I am ranked #6 in Washington and #90 in NA)

So, out of this Top Tier list what beats GeChamp consistently?? I like my chances!!

I hope the meta stays just the way it is.

As for champ, FAR from an auto-loss. Maybe for dialga/palkia, but certainly not for every g deck
out there.

Not mine anyways.

^^^^ Hey, shouldn't you be cutting grass....LOL. Totally agree. Glad you are taking your deck to GA. Now if you would just take Steve with you!!

LOL Yeah , I "should " be . Heading out now.

And I agree , you should like your position. Not many answers
for your deck right now.

As for Steve??

Good luck with that

If you really don't think Palkia or Dialga variants are a solid deck or close to "BDIF", go check the "what won states" thread and read.....Then play against someone with even a decent list...

It is actually better against Champ to G a Crobat. It is resistant and takes all 4 heads on hurricane punch to knock it out. If they play the Lv. X to knock it out they still need 2 heads to knock it out so I think that Crobat is the best choice. The other fact is that it has free retreat and can be Poke Turned at will.

I do like that everyone is "Gengar will be a T1 deck for Regionals". I mean seriously how can you say that when it didn't show up at ALL during States.

Me and my brother in seniors were the only people to play Gengar during our state championship, and both took 2nd. Its definately Tier 1.

Just IMHO, but we don't have really stable archetypes for G decks yet. One Palkia build might have 4 mesprit and no Toxicroak, while another build might have Toxicroak and no mesprits. A dialga build might include palkia and it might not. The strength or weakness of a given build vs something like Machamp is likewise going to be very variable.

To the OP question, and why he has two threads on this IDK, good G builds are a safe play, Gengar is a safe play, Machamp is a safe play. Outside of that and you are taking a bit more of a risk, but those things sometimes pay off in a big way, eh?

1st Place
Wins Deck
10 Dialga G
5 Dialga G/Palkia G
5 Toxitank G
4 Machamp
4 Palkia G
3 AMU
2 Kingdra
1 Abomasnow/Cresselia/Mewtwo/Giratina
1 Gardevoir/AMU
1 Gengar
1 Regigigas
1 Tyranitar

The format hasnt changed yet people, The Top decks at States will still win/do well at Regionals. So see the list of winners above and thats what you can expect at Regionals to be in Top 16.

Seniors is a LOT different than Masters. It is comparing Apples and Oranges.

Drew

I know seniors is alot easier, but I know alot of the Seniors there quite well - and he had no easy games. All against people who could survive in the masters.

I also went 2nd in the Masters with it.

Apples and oranges are both fruit

Masters and seniors are both Pokemon players.
