...And then include all the League prizes, the newly minted giveaways at Premiers above BR level, the Pres, and everything else that we get...

A million USD is probably on the lower end of the OP scale here. I'd probably add a quarter to that for the full scope of POP, and I'm always appreciative of everything that they've managed to give and will continue to give.
 
You can't seriously say that you like the stupid promos they give us. We have NEVER gotten a decent card out of those. Ya... my nationals Dragonite is just soooooooo playable. :/
 
Pika, just because YOU haven't won one doesn't mean that OP doesn't have to spring for them.

In addition to all that you have the cost of events like Nats & Worlds. I suspect that our Pre-release sleves are subsidized as well even though we do pay something for those. Probably more too.
 
And then I completely forget about the insane prize support that the side events and league at Nationals and Worlds get. Thx for reminding me, DP!
 
50 s/p/t = 350 boxes, $36,00 in stipends, 600 trophies
15 regionals = 330 boxes, $112,500 in scholarships, 45 trips to Nationals, 180 trophies
US Nats = 54 boxes, $42,000 scholarships, 12 DSi's, 12 trips to worlds, 12 trophies

I'm confused here. You're saying that over a quarter of a million in prizes between these events is lacking? Boy, you're a hard one to please...

Lol, I think PCUI could give away Luxray lv.X to everyone who ever attends an event and people would still complain about how they already have a luxray or something. Some people are just impossible to please.

Its funny that the amount of complaining is done by the same group of 20 or so posters on this website. I can only imagine what the other 1000's of players (who don't complain) think in regards to this issue.
 
No, I wouldn't complain if they gave us usable cards. But really, VM, dragonite? Can we PLEASE at least get cards that we can actually USE? Uxie for winning BR? Heck ya!

Perhaps if you win your next BR, you should give your VM to the player ending second.
Could give you a good feeling and make somebody happy with that "crap" card.
You have the bragging rights "you won" and the "looser" is happy with a promo.
 
Giving away playable cards for winning tournaments is a bad idea.

If they made a new card, then not all players would have access to it and it would become ridiculously expensive, like Gold Sarcophagus and Crush Card in YGO.

Making a winner version of some staple card seems a bit naff and doesn't really make it special. Plus it would likely mess with future rotations.
 
But isnt that the point? You win a BR and get a VM, these things are so old, is it that much to ask for something remotly interesting? And bragging rights for winnig a BR :/ ?

But no. We're expected to just be happy with the mediocre junk we're given. If we ever dare actually suggest they give us something a little more playable than a VM we are treated like greedy jerks.
 
Just make a card that's already in a set with a stamp on it. Like someone said, give away a BR Uxie or BR Claydol or BR Roseanne's and we would be way happier.

Give it a special stamp (the judge cstamps look cheap IMO :( ), Artwork, anything....

Just when getting halded 4 Boosters that you know will have nothing but trash and an age old promo card, you feel like an idiot, rly :/

But, but...if they didn't give away those boxes, they could have instead, you know, SELL THOSE BLOODY BOXES and thus made a profit out of them.

Jeez, seriously.

While I do somehow agree with the VM point, it would be something if either:
A) Every year it got a new design
B) There were different BR Promos. They shouldnt be playable (at least not very well), but at least collectors value.

Making them great cards is only going to open a huge can of worms.

Now DarthPika, you failed to answer the main question of this thread: WHAT DO YOU EXPECT THE POKEMON TCG TO GIVE YOU (and what do you give it in return)? I'm really interested in your answer, because you're one of the biggest sour grapes around. Yoshi gave a rather good explanation of his views, but you failed to do so so far.
 
I'm so sorry for actually having a life out side of pokemon. I've been busy with college, and haven't had time to respond. I'll get around to it once I actually have some time. As for what do I give it in return? That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. :/ How about, I spend HUNDREDS on cards? The game isn't exactly free...
 
And yet you have the time to try to counter several well thought out arguments from others? Makes...sense...
