Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Why Does Galactic Win

^ Not in G-decks, silly. I don't know why you'd want to waste space and Bebe's to even attempt that and then nuke yourself with your own G-base? Nononono. I meant in other decks with other pokemanz.

i have been thinking couldn't 2 maindeck team galatic's wager be good. shuffles the hand and a chance to draw to 6. it disrupts up any pokesprays

Or you could use Lookers. The idea isn't that great, though, since you have no idea if they'll draw into it anyway, and it uses your supporter for the turn.

1.) It has the highest recovery in the game. You need very few cards to get back into play. One energy gain, and your benched basic Pokémon can continue attacking. Other decks need Rare Candy, the evolution and sometimes some more enegy. Setup decks can be destroyed by Dusknoir DP, Galactic decks can't.

2.) Since you only need basic Pokémon and very few energy, there are lots of space for trainers - which means, a more consistant deck. Pokéturn can keep your opponent from getting prizes too fast. Power Spray slows him down.

3.) It has the highest donk factor in the game. You need two Basics, one basic energy, one Energy Gain and one stadium to do 70 damage T1 with Toxicroak. Everything except for the stadium is searchable without problems. Stadiums aren't limited to 4 copies like Rare Candy is - most G-decks play 5 or 6 of them. In addition, there are several other ways to donk - multiple Crobats and then attack with Honchkrow, for example. Kingdra can donk, Machamp can donk, Rampardos as well. But Galactic can donk better than all three of them together. I can't count how often I played against Kingdra and Machamp during CCs and the first States. I never actually lost T1 against those decks in tournaments, but I lost T1 against Galactic 2 times yet.

Unfortunaly, I found out that 3.) is most important. This is what made Kingdra and Machamp that good during CCs. Decks that can donk often and run well even if they do not donk score more wins.

However, Galactic isn't unbeatable. All my tournament losses to Galactic were either T1 donks or really close, and I've won some matches with setup decks vs Galactic against good players. Galactic is a very special kind of deck, which means you can easily tech against it. Just think of simple cards that have been forgotten since the end of last season. ;)

I made my son a G deck, and i tell you he slaughter's me if i'm not in top form, and even then i have to be a lil lucky to beat the lil' 8 year old. Here are just some things he did to me tonight:

Me playing dusknoir-- After killing my Abomasnow with a 2 hit skunk/toxicroak combo pokemon, i had to bring up a dusknoir with only two energies on him and three damage counters due to a shadow command. i ko his toxicroak, (the only thing my damage even could kill at the point.) he brings up his skunktank, drops a honchcrow g, a crobat g, puts another damage on my Noir, then retreats his skunk, puts an energy gain and dark energy on his honchcrow, poisons me then target attacks me for 70. I die from the poison between turns and then ground him for three days (jk :p)

The thing about the g decks is that their so fast that even knocking out their main attacker does little to slow them down. I've found that with him, if i can't get a night spinning dusknoir out, he wipes the floor with me pretty consistently. I can stall with Dialga G (an ampharos phobia tech that has found more use than i realized) and that helps, but the thing about the g is that they are so fast and so consistent that a lot of decks just can't deal with them. I mean, a simple honchcrow g start and my son has the stadium and the energy gain to go to town t2. His biggest problem against me is that he keeps having to go first which slows him down a bit, but out of about 8 games i have yet to see him go past turn 2 without hitting me for 60-70 with poison.

Poketurning damaged pokemon and then bringing them right back to active with Moonlight stadium and energy gain, it's a tough deck to deal with. He's a kid so despite me suggesting against mightyena, he still plays with it and i find that it has only given him another way to seriously hurt me.

G is a tough deck, even in a child's hands, apparently.

^at the top of your paragraph you say you killed toxicroak with damage even. Toxicroals body prevents damage even just for future reference.

something else???? lol thats why toxicroak is NOT good he's not the best sp atkr out there.

He may not be, but he can certainly do his share of wrecking Dusknoir's and Machamp's, which is enough to get him at least one slot in any SP deck.

The biggest reason galactic is good is because it has NO BAD MATCHUPS. Everything that it faces is 50-50 or better. People will argue the obvious counters of Mewtwo and Machamp, Machamp cant touch toxicroak with takeout while toxicroak is hitting for 90+poison or an instant KO on machamp X all for 1 energy. Mewtwo on the other hand is stopped by dialga G at which point the other player extends his hand and says Good Game

It has bad machups, ive seen it. Does bad against plox because of powerlock and ohko weakness. if they send out their dialga its teleportfor gallade "Bam!"

Everything has bad machups

and machamp can definatly touch toxicroak, last i remeber 40 damage can be game changing. Just look at plus power.

G'S worst matchup is itself IMO. neither player can poison each other and it takes like a full 40 min (4 poketurns and your hitting either 20 a turn or crobat toxic=lame) for some to win.

2 basics are easier to get than 1 basic and 1 stage 2 (as in Kingdra etc).
One stadium is easier to get than one Rare Candy cause you can have more in your deck.
Yes, you need Energy Gain, but this card is searchable and usually 4 times in the deck.

I'm not going to deny that G decks are amazing, but I believe they've been badly overhyped on the gym.

Oh course its a great deck - easily Tier 1, but to think they're BDIF and invincible is wrong.

I've heard about/seen 5 G's at tournaments by 3 players - all going 3-1, 3-1, 2-2, 2-3 and 2-3. 2 Of those players 2 were worlds qualifiers.

Of course G's worst matchup is itself, when it's so bad that it only plays Toxicroak as attacker. Lolz.
