Worlds 2008 Location Is..........

For Worlds in Florida again, I think it says a lot about where the bulk of the player base is - Florida, California, Hawaii (closest to Japan). Is it just as easy for people in Texas (around midpoint of the state) to go to the Florida location as it is to go to Southern California locations?

I believe it's further to go West than East.

As for next year's worlds, I hope it's closer to the airport than '04's-that cab ride was really long.

Nice, FL is a lot less far from Europe than either Cali or Hawaii. I think I'm gonna book my ticket this fall to save money ;)

I love the way that almost everybody seems to complain unless it's within 2 hours from there house. They'll never be able to please, there will still be someone on the other side of America who will feel deeply wounded by it (even though it was probably within 2 hours of them last year), so why all the fuss?

Just be pleased it's been within your own country for 5 years in a row, you have it easy!

Ok, that's enough Kempley. I'd appreciate it if this didn't turn into a controversial thread.

Now I still need to find out when in August will Worlds 08 take place so I can book in advance.

There is no such thing as any place being better for Worlds outside of the United States.

(especially when it lets me sleep at Omar's house)

I like the idea of it being in FL. I should be able to afford it if everything goes ok. Hawaii was to expensive for me no matter how much I wanted to go. I still wish I was there and was able to go but anyways ... As far as the location, I think its great.

No, it makes you irrelevant.

 That was rude for no reason. But there's no point in hijacking the thread for a response, so I guess I'll let it go :thumb:

Orlando is a good place, i think! =)

Yes, I think it is too - just there are other places!

@ dogma and The_Gorn: I think Worlds offers a lot to a collector. A lot of people gathered in one place, most likely carrying excess cards to get out of their hands before the rotation, as well as foreign players bringing with them cards (I still want a Timmy au Dressage!). Japanese cards have become popular to play with, so trading with Japanese players can be good for a collector to trade for other English cards.
This coming from someone who hasn't been to Worlds before though. Tell me if I'm wrong in my opinion.

I never thought about it that way. And with past champions, I'm guessing at least some rare Japanese promos (I smell trophy cards). Interesting...

Ok guys, lighten up a bit, thanks. It's time to talk about where the location is, not about where we wish it would be, or why it should be in a particular other area - or not. Let's get this thread a little more focused instead of a little more contentious.

Sorry, never meant for it to become a hot-topic issue
