Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

ABSOL G: "Community SecretDeck" #1

uhg, let's just make a decklist?

Pokemon: 20
1 Absol G Lv. X
3 Absol G
1 Luxray GL Lv. X
2 Luxray GL
2 Claydol
2 Baltoy
2 Crobat G
1 Skuntank G
1 Uxie Lv. X
2 Uxie
1 Azelf
2 Unown G

Trainers: 28
4 Cyrus's Conspiracy
4 Energy Gain
4 Poketurn
2 SP Radar
2 Power Spray
4 Roseanne's Resarch
2 Bebe's Search
1 Luxury Ball
1 Aaron's Collection
1 Night Maintenance
1 VS Seeker
2 Premier Ball

Energy:12
3 Special Dark
3 Basic Dark
2 Electric
4 Call

Uxie X, because Fighting is week to Psychic and you have more than enough Fighting Week junk in here. VS Seeker can be used to get Aaron's Collection or anything else you need. 2 Premier Ball to get out Absol and Luxray.

How about Gyarados SF? Use Absol to discard the Magikarp then just sweep with it until it's gone, bring out Gyarados who is now sweeping 90 for 0. Use Premier balls to bring back Absol LV.X and rebuild him on the bench for when Gyarados is done.

Just a though :) I'd rather not use Chatot G. Even if you only get one heads, you still put the cards in order from best to worse banking on the fact that you would knock off the best ones first. That's fine and dandy and all but if it doesn't work out as planned then they could draw into something nice.

I think Absol's power should be something to be abused with Poketurns and have someone else be main attacker if you re going to use its power as it's main draw. We need to find a situation where we WANT our cards discarded so his attack is more viable if he is going to be a main attacker.

Absol in itself laughs at Gengar, OHKO for one energy? Oly problem is, Gengar needs a few damage on it to work out that way. I propose either Infernape 4 with it's Split Bomb or Manectric PL with it's Power Wave to seal the deal in this match up, while also being a strong contributer in other match ups as well.

Lucario would have the same effect, but it would be much less useful in other match ups, as most top tier cards are not weak to Dark or Lightning (except of course Gengar, lol).

I'd add 2-4 Super Scoop Ups to focus more on Absol's power, also if we're going the SP route, add Champion's Room from the new set. It takes away one energy cost from each SP's retreat, giving Absol free retreat while benifitting your others.(I think Absol only has one retreat....)

If you do decide to do the Moonlight Stadium, I'd say maybe a 1-1 Weavile SW and 1-1 Palkia LV. X as you could drag up their benched support/back up attacker and Doom News it

This deck is SCREAMING for Chatot G.

Relicanth or Dragonite FB as a tech against SP's

Garchomp C for it's power late game and a great sniping attack.

This deck is SCREAMING for Chatot G.

Chatot G AND Looker's Investigation for fun

Drop the Chatot G, don't like what you see? Play Looker's Investigation and make them shuffle. The only thing I see against Chatot G is that it takes a Poketurn to use. Unless you want to run 3-4 and also use Palkia G....which could work....

Here's a rough list, I don't have translations in front of me so I might get mixed up on what some cards do

Pokemon: 17
2-1 Palkia G Lv. X
3-1 Absol G Lv. X
3 Chatot G
3-1 Uxie Lv,X (LA)
1 Azelf (LA)
2 Unown G

T/Su/St: 32
4 Roseanne's Research
4 Cyrus's Scheme
2 TGI SP Radar
4 TGI Poketurn
4 TGI Energy Gain
2 TGI Power Spray
2 Looker's Investigation
3 Super Scoop Up
1 VS Seeker
1 Night Maintenance(Or 1 Aarons)
2 Premier Ball
2 Warp Point
1 Luxury Ball

Energy: 11
3 SP Rainbow
3 SP. Dark
2 Call Energy
2 Dark
1 Water

This deck focuses on getting Absol out early to start the discarding, Poketurns and Super Scoop Ups help this along. Chatot G is to look at the top cards of your oppoenents deck to see if you discard anything good, if not Looker's Investigation gives you a potential new 3 cards to discard. Palkia G helps keep your bench in check while also disrupts your opponent's set up.

You could probably switch out Palkia G for Luxray GL, but then you'd need to edit the Pokemon lines a bit

There are many the cards that have been suggested.
ALOT of good stategy ideas.

Now it's down to numbers and synergy!

See the ORIGINAL POST for the compilation of your card suggestions.

What should come off the list? What should stay on?
Why is one card distracting the focus of the deck?

What ideas did you think was really clever that someone else gave?

Suggestions?

Personally, the use of BOTH Super Scoop Up AND PokeTurn was a GREAT suggestion.
You really have alot of "pulling up" and repeat power usage going on.

There was a suggestion of using BOTH Luxray AND Absol G as SUPPORT and introducing a Main attacker like Gyrarados SF (who needs no energy).

Well, I'm a little partial to this suggestion myself.
I top cut Nats with Gyrarados SF  - so, I was kicking myself for not thinking about that possibility.

There IS a disruption angle that could be just ABUSED though...

Absol SW
•Cyrus's Initiative
Chatot
Absol G
Maybe Palkia G X ?

That would Lost Zone AND Discard ... would you guys like to go AGRO DISRUPTION?

Maybe throw in MARS , WAGERS, LOOKERS ?

MAYBE use Flygon X (as suggested) as a T4 or so off the bench-warming attacker?

That would be rediculously fun to surprise the Non-Pokegym opponent with. He won't know what the heck just hit him!

Also, I like the mention of Honchcrow G. It's Dark and it Snipes... quickly. Dragging up something with Luxray and finishing it off later is always an option there...

DO WE WANT LUXRAY OR PALKIA X (restructure) with Moonlight ?

Is Chatot really helping or distracting/cluttering?

These are thoughts that immediately came to mind as I read through your suggestions.

This thread is just awesome. You guys are REALLY making something special happen here.

Thank you for contributing

I'll get around to posing something useful after I look up what these cards actually do. :p

Looking at the last post... Luxray > Palkia IMO. At least for SPs.

As for Palkia G lv.x, how can you NOT use it? Stick one of those suckers in to your deck and it's instant BDIF!!! Yes, I'm biased when it comes to Palkia G. ;P

Honestly, I'm not a fan of using Chatot G. It takes up bench space, and if you PokeTurn it, it wastes a Poketurn. What of you miss some coin flips? You just let them draw into some good cards. I think Absol's power should just be an extra, like Gengar's power. Nobody builds Gengar decks around Gengar's power.

If you guys wanna use Chatot G, use it with the new Primeape. :)

wow this decklist looks ridiculously cluttered. you play luxray gl with no electric/sp energy so 'd say drop the luxray as well as manetric for the same reason or add some electric energy, i like the idea of aggro disruption, it's something that is greatly underestimated and will prolly catch anyone/everyone off guard.

get rid of the chatot g or just run 1 as a tech for when you think you'll rly need to get them with it. (yeah who's stacking cards now?) also i dont rly see a clear main attacker/. is it absol g lv x or just reg absol or is it luxray gl. i honestly dont know. absol g lv x isnt that bad for 1 energy with an e-gain its potential is 60-70 damage or for 2 energy with a gain you can auto ko something by the next turn but with unown g running about its'll be less likely so i would make absol g lv x a secondary attacker with luxray/manetric as a main if you decide to keep them. i'd figure to add to the disruption play a 2-1 or 1-1 giratina x so if they wanna attack they need to discard a card, but that's just me. and with absol with absol g lv x running about they either wont be set up to draw or wont have a hand so they can never attack. and if they some how do manage a hand they wont for long b/c you'll be getting rid of their hand/deck you'll pretty much deck them in the long run.

so my card add would be giratina x line with a 2-1 or 1-1 line as a tech.

Energy Gain is in the list two separate times, I'm sure one of these is meant to be three Lightning energy.

One should bench Lucario GL only if they know if they're going to do extra damage.

How about Rhyperior (DP)? add a 4-3-4 line of that to help discard more cards from the deck. People are already saying Poke Turn; why not do the same with this guy and Super Scoop Up as well? It makes for good disruption.

I say 5 things:
1) Drop chomp-he competes for poketurns. He would be bait for gengar (which yes absol could kill but at the risk of fainting spell.
never underestimate the coin going against you.)
2) Drop Manectric. bench shielding is nice and all that, but he also takes up space that I think could be used by something else that would benefit the deck more.
3) Add 1 or 2 Dusky FB. Late game cleaner, as absol will probably discard SP's that you don't need.
But it could be a distraction from the deck's main purpose. Fighting resistant as well.
4) Add a more organized deck/card list lol. (just a suggestion RA). I think it would be an easier read if the cards were split up like in a decklist format.
For whenever you get around to it.
5) Nice idea. Great way to get people to come together for a common "purpose" and build a deck together.

Just my thoughts.

I think we are straying away form the idea of making a deck with Absol. I don't think we should be focusing on a milling deck, that is not what Absol is good for, and adding other milling cards won't win you a game!

Here are some things Absol G is good for.
1. T2 consistant 60 damage for 1 energy and energy gain.
2. Making an opponent choose between retreat or die! If they don't retreat, they die.
3. Absol G is an SP. We found with Luxape that pairing two random SPs together can make a devastating deck.

With those being said, I like Infernape 4 LV.X or Luxray GL LV.X in this deck. Not so much Palkia. With Infernape you can pick something up off of their bench and put it into play then Message of Ruin it or KO it. The ups for this is that Infernape can spread easily and you can use his power each turn.

With Luxray we can pull up a Claydol or something and Message or Ruin it. They either have to retreat or die, and it is not likely they will retreat.

Other than that, Message of Ruin is just great in general. If their main attack is out and threatening you, Message of Ruin it. Oh sure, they can still attack but if they do their turn will end and they will be KO'd. If they don't want their main attacker dying, they will have to replace it.

Another great thing about Absol is is that he can pt most anything within KO range starting T2. 60 damage T2, 60 damage T3... most Pokemon are out cold by then. Of course you have to discard a card though. We should use this to our advantage. At this point we could have discarded 2 Magikarp to fuel Gyarados, and on T4 there goes the last one. Absol will probably be out by then too but now we have a Gyarados who is very upset about his Magikarp in the discard pile.

What I'm trying to say is we should not keep pushing Absol into a milling position. Sure that is fun but what kind of secret deck would it be if it didn't win anything (which I can assure you, a milling deck will not).

Try to think outside the box, everyone! That is what a secret deck is about.

Why not focus on Dark SP cards and Special Darkness Energy to get the added bonus 10+. These list are with each other:
Honchkrow G - Set up & Snipping
Weavile G - Bench Set Up & Attack for 70 to 100 with a full bench
Absol G / LvX - Basic can Snipe and KO if done right - LvX Can do 60 to 80
Darkrai G - Can do 50 to 80 and put to Sleep. Body also good to when stacked

All this with Special Darkness Energy added. A little something Im working on called Cyrus deck or Team Galactic deck.

After looking at the list some more, I do believe Palkia G Lv. X is the play as it lets you utilize Chatot G and is a great back-up attacker.

Also, Palkia has always been a favorite :p
