BCS-Wire Time!!!

Yeah you're right actually I think, I forgot only 2 teams from each conference can get in. That means the door is probably open to the loser of the ACC Championship game. I honestly can't think of a realistic scenario where 2 Big 12 teams get in if Oklahoma wins. Also Hawaii is ranked so low because they've played nobody. They have two FCS wins (both at home) plus their conference includes Utah St. and Idaho, two of the worst teams in the nation. I would have a hard time ranking them in the top 10 myself.

Truly Kansas has faced no one either. The only ranked team they beat was Kansas St which now I dont even think is ranked in the top 25, at the time they beat them they were #23, they lost to Missouri which was top 5 ranked team at the time.

But you look at Hawaii who has faced competition much like what Kansas has faced yet they beat a higher ranked opponent in #19 Boise St. and currently Hawaii is the only undefeated team left right now. I dont think they would be championship material, I dont even think they could beat a top 5 team, although they do hold a record and win over a ranked opponent and should be in a BCS bowl game. Truly I dont think Mizzou, Kansas, Ohio St are Championship material, WV has a case now but thats not very strong either.

The BCS is trash.

But as I watch alot of what I think is payoffs, gambling in college football to. I wondered why Urban Meyer said he wouldnt take his team into Hawaii to face them. Kind of a bold statement that maybe something is going on somewhere to.

I agree...

TCU had this problem several years ago where they had an amazing run (Xx-1) and didnt even get a bowl bid...

Updated Bowl Outlook

Rose Bowl:

USC (PAC 10) vs. Georgia (At Large SEC)

Sugar Bowl:

Kansas (At Large Big 12) vs. Arizona State (At Large PAC 10)

Orange Bowl:

Virginia Tech (ACC) vs. West Virginia (Big East)

Fiesta Bowl:

Oklahoma (Big 12) vs. Hawaii (WAC/At Large)

BCS National Championship:

Ohio State (BCS #1) vs. LSU (Probable BCS #2)

The way the pecking order goes is that the Rose Bowl will get first selection of there team since their rep is #1. So there's realistically 2 choices, Georgia or Illinois and two top 10 teams playing would be more appealing to them to a 3 loss Illinois team. LSU would get shoved into the championship because they won the SEC Championship and you can't have the second place team in the conference playing ahead of the conferecne champion. LSU had a stronger schedule losing both of their games in triple OT.

This is how it will turn out if Hawaii wins but as of half way through the first quarter there, they are struggling at 14-0 to Washington.

Other Probable Bowls:

Florida vs. Illinois in the Capital One Bowl

Tennesse vs. Wisconsin in the Outback Bowl

WOW, Missouri lost, unreal. Missouri just looked horrible today, horrendous play calling IMO. They kept doing the 2 yard sideline passing which isn't effective. Mizzou never tried to open the run game with Temple. Missouri was just pathetic, thoroughly dissapointed.

The real shock was that WV lost....

Now a team that has jumped from #5 to probably #1 without playing some games is amazing. I hope that they don't get it.

This is BCS week is in chaos now, who will get in?
Will LSU jump over Georgia?
I feel Ohio State is in but it is between VT and LSU......lol......Kansas has a legit shot as well.....unreal. Thanks Mizzou(which is my fav team) for deciding that now was the time to play your worst game of the year.

Side Note, Hawaii is losing 21-7, not even shock for me, Hawaii really havent played anyone. I would feel less sorry for them if they would actually schedule a game against a team that is averagly decent.

Hawaii has wanted to play many major conference teams and those teams refuse to play. Michigan turned down Hawaii for App St. and look what happened there. This year the schedules of some major conferences went to 12 games. What did most of those teams do? They scheduled easy win games against teams with cardinal directions in their name.

Hawaii should be put into a January bowl and we can see if the BCS was right or wrong about this team.

How can Ohio State not be in? They have 1 loss to a top 15 Illinois team and have 11 wins. They were playing when these teams had bye weeks, Ohio State played for 12 straight weeks and deserves their final standing order at #1. The Bulldogs might be ahead of LSU in the polls but in the BCS LSU will be 2 and Georgia will be 3. Now we have to see how far Missouri falls, I say they fall out of the top 5 but retain a top 10 position and an outside shot at an At Large bid to a BCS Bowl.

The BCS is goin down
goin down
goin down
The BCS is goin down
And everyone is happy!!!

Ahh, Chaos. Wonderful, beautiful Chaos!!!

Ohio State gets the National Championship (Michigan fan: BO0O0O0O0O0O0O0O0O0O0O0O0O0O0O0O0OO0O), but Illinois gets the Rose Bowl (Ilinois fan: YAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAY). The Rose Bowl committee REALLY likes getting Big Ten vs Pac Ten whenever possible. Illinois is a legitimate team this year, and I'd like to see how they do against the better teams. They beat Ohio State. They should have beat Michigan. I'd like to see what happens to this team NEXT year, assuming Mendenhall and Juice stay...

It's not gonna make for an exciting game though. USC v. Georgia or USC v. LSU is much more appealing to the nation than USC v. Illinois. USC will tear apart Illinois much like they do to every Big 10 team in the Rose Bowl. The first two matchups would be just as good, if not better than the national championship game will be. PAC 10 vs. SEC the two best conferences in the nation going head to head in the most famous bowl game in the country.

Unfortunately, we have to be content with the Sugar Bowl (9 times out of 10) and play Hawaii, not USC. Poor LSU tigers...

I dont think they going to put Georgia against USC, Rose Bowl Committee is bias about who they want in the Rose Bowl and usually schedule weak teams to face the PAC10 Champion, quite frankly I dont know who will end up playing USC though. But I think Georgia will play Hawaii in the Sugar Bowl if LSU manages to make it to the NC game. USC will face OU in the Rose Bowl, least this is how I think it will play out, I am not entirely sure on anything at this point, I know if voters were smart and the BCS system had a backbone, this is how it would play out to be.

Now I have heard USC vs Illinois now, but I am not too familiar with how things work in the BCS bowl bids, but wouldnt Illionois have to be in the top 12 I think it is to be BCS Bowl Eligible?

Quick question:

How in the HECK is Florida (9-3) ranked ahead of Hawaii (11-0)?

Well, because Florida is in the strongest conference and their strength of schedule is 3rd in the nation while Hawaii is 119th. Florida barely lost to Auburn by 3 with a last second FG, was beat by LSU bt a tigers last minute TD, and Georgia won by 12 but it was close at the end, but Florida was playing with a badly injured T-bone (Tebow).

Florida will play their first game next year against Hawaii on August 30th and then you will understand!!

Umbykirb- What team are you referring to as "we"?

The top 12 in BCS rankings applies only to teams from conferences without BCS Bowl tie-ins. Like Boise State this year and Hawaii this year. Every other team in the top 12 right now besides Hawaii is from a tie-in conference. The Big 12 champion has a tie-in to the Fiesta Bowl so Oklahoma will be going there for the 2nd straight year. And since they have an elgible rep for their game they will get one of the last At-Large picks to play against the Big 12 champion. I think we can all agree on the Orange Bowl matchup because its always ACC vs. Big East and the two conference champs are there. The National Championship will be Ohio State, no question, but their opponent is a toss up. You can put Georgia, LSU, Virginia Tech, or Kansas as #2. The Rose Bowl I've already explained. So then that leaves the Sugar Bowl with At-Large vs. At Large. Georgia can't be in there because they are not the SEC champion, so it will be Kansas and Arizona State as the next highest ranked teams.

Well right now its looking like LSU vs tOSU in the NC game, since LSU is the SEC Champion, wouldnt Georgia be in the Sugar Bowl taking over LSUs Spot?

yeah that's what its gonna be. lol. ohio state actually does it. i remember the end of week ten. them losing to a very respectable illinois team.

then all the irritating sports radio disc jockeys were bashing the buckeyes, talking about how Jim Tressel was a bad coach and all that nonsense. and me, myself, i was thinking its gonna be a long shot for them to climb back up in it. but i'm not too confident on anybody else that was on the top 10 at that time.

They needed LSU to lose, and LSU lost. They needed Oregon to lose. And the ducks got flambe'd. Jayhawks got served. Oklahoma lost to the raiders but made up for it by winning the conference. WV also lost. So wow.. right now they BCS polls hasnt come up yet. but yeah. they're gonna be number one, and if anybody has to be number two its gotta be LSU, their only two losses were triple overtime defeats. that's not too bad at all.

Another SEC win!!!!!!!!!!!! :lol::lol::lol::lol:

It's the same situation as the Rose Bowl, their reps can't play due to the BCS so they don't have to get the trickle down team.

We have a whole bunch of at large teams right now, I was surprised at the fact that Hawaii leaped Arizona State so that might get the Warriors to the Sugar Bowl now.

#4 Georgia--- Prediction-Rose Bowl/ Actual Bowl Game---
#7 Mizzou---- Prediction- Sugar Bowl/ Actual Bowl Game---
#10 Hawaii---- Prediction- Fiesta Bowl/ Actual Bowl Game---
#12 Arizona State---- Prediction- Sugar Bowl/ Actual Bowl Game---
#13 Illinois---- Prediction- Capital One Bowl/ Actual Bowl Game---
#14 Boston College---- Prediction- Gator Bowl/ Actual Bowl Game---

There is currently 4 spots open for these teams so looks like Illinois will not make it to a BCS bowl but make for a god match against Florida in the Capital One Bowl. So many storylines in that probable game.

I was a little surprised that Kansas fell to 8 and behind Missouri so now Mizzou could go to the Sugar Bowl instead of Kansas but I'll keep my predictions the same and wait for the standings coming up in an hour and 15 minutes.

I think Georgia will face Va Tech, the Sugar Bowl likes to schedule the SEC team representing the SEC to face the closest ranked opponent to them.
