Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

GG vs. Plox

I don't even know who you sided with, but you're my hero.

Elm: So, you're telling me that I wouldn't ever use Wager-PLock in GG? You're also telling me that if my opponent sends up an Empoleon against my PLOX, I would obviously NOT try to OHKO it with Gallade but 2-3HKO it with Gardevoir just so I could continue the Power lock, correct?
You, really. (And thanks. :D)

I played GG at Nationals today and I found myself P-Locking a fair bit. The deck, (maybe just my build) seems fully capable of 'ploxing' and just cutting. I think it's just a similar deck which can be referred to as either.

Of course that's not what I'm telling you.
Wager Psy Lock is PLOX's MAIN strategy. It uses Gallade when needed, but not nearly as frequently as GG.
GG uses Gallade as its MAIN strategy. It uses Psychic Lock and Wager when needed, but not nearly as frequently as PLOX.

Not to mention, both decks set up in different ways.

I don't know how you can argue that the strategies are the same in each deck. Plox and GG function very differently.
I wont say they don't have versatility, but they are 2 distinct, different decks.

Ok, I understand that, but if I were to take a PLOX deck and remove a Gardevoir for a Gallade, what would I have? A crummy PLOX? A GG with Claydol? GLOX?

It's useful to make the distinction between emphasis Gardy or emphasis Glade. Two cards difference
in the deck is 5%. 5% wins games. I've been trying to tell Nate for a year now, two Glade is enough,
quit playing three. One Glade is all you need, sometimes two. The first Glade will flip to find the other
one. Sister beats Brother. Nope can't get him off Glade. Anyway, Plox is catchy enough to refer to the
difference. Zero props for 'I invented Plox'. WTG Mr. Obvious. Nope, not gonna pay for some special,
custom decklist from Team-R whoever that is. Plox++. Catchy name.

I don't care how you look at it, G&G and PLOX are the same deck! taking out 1 Gallade for 1 Gardevoir, and putting in the best support card in the format (which is also used in EVERY good deck) doesn't make it a different deck.

For example, my friend and I play identical G&G (w/ Wager/Claydol) decks. He prefers to to get his Gallade out 1st and start Psychic Cutting, and I prefer to get Gardy out first and start Psychic Locking. Does that mean our decks should have different names... NO!! It's the same deck.

Changing 4-5 cards and changing how you want to play it does not mean its a different deck, stop kidding yourselves.

Rambo: Stop asking for it, then. Aside from Ryan, everyone in R acts like one of those teenage delinquents you see hanging around the bus station at 1am. As such, it of course follows that very few people will respect your wishes and quit bashing your team's leet deck.

i dont care what anyone calls the deck. i also don't know any teenagers who hang out by any bus stations (what?) and plox isn't even my deck. stop trying to be cool on the pokegym by dissing us for no reason especially when none of us have ever done anything to you.

Maybe it's your elitist snobby attitude Rambo? Dunno if you noticed, but you really act like you've personally invented this game sometimes.

PLOX, uses a completely different strait, last time I checked GG NEVER used TGW/claydol/psychic lock, as it's main usage. Plox is a more advanced version of GG and if a plox came into a match with a GG it would win way more than it would lose.

This is preposterous, there were TGW in G&G from the very 1st Citys one. If the TGW is what makes the deck PLOX then Ted B. here in Washington is the creator of PLOX because he finished 2nd in Oregon states with that deck a month before the POLX deck name hit the Gym. Oh and I suppose we are expected to believe that no one ever used Psychic Lock before the Guys in PLOX were the first ones to discover this attack existed, (Boy do I feel so stupid for all those times I had three engery on an active Gardevoir in the City Championships and just had to Pass and not attack because my X was prized and I had no attacks on Gardevoir that I knew how to use)

Saying that if PLOX met G&G in a match it would won more then loose is absurd. It is like saying If Magmortar met Magmortar in a match then Magmortar would win more then Magmortar would loose. If it serves a persons ego to think you deck is more special then an identical deck used by someone else then go ahead and believe that. But if a person does so then they are fooling no one other then themselves. PLOX is not unique and no one who claims to play it is any more special then anyone else. Personally I think that players that are competing with decks other then deck with Gardevoir and Gallade pokemon in it are the ones who really deserve respect, as they are stepping out to play something unique and challenging. Gardevoir and Gallade is really a gutless choice (and I say this as a player who had done very well with that deck for a long time) to use as the combo is just too easy, and putting them together in a deck is actually less creative an idea then what is found in your typical theme deck.

**Observation** Is it just me or are the people who are claiming that PLOX is somehow an unique deck, are they not the same people who last year were saying that MARIO was not a deck?

So, what you're saying is that if in one match, I play my deck that happens to have Gardy and Gallade in it and attack mostly with Gardy I'm playing Plox, but in my next match if I attack mostly with Gallade I'm playing GG?

So, when I take 5 prizes with Claydol, what am I playing then?

You are playing way more pluspowers then what is allowed!

Well this discussion is just pointless ! both decks suggest a Huge lack of imagniation, But if you want to play it play it just stop arguing about if its GG or Plox i dont call my decks stuff i just play them.

Lots of small birds have names: but to me they are all LBJs. For those that don't know that just means Little Brown Jobs. Now I'm sure that the different LBJs do have different names but not being a bird watcher myself they are all just LBJs.

the GG vs PLOX is somewhat similar. I'm sure that the deck builders can identify the subtle differences or even not so subtle differences between the two. I think the list that my son plays is probably GG, yet he frequenlty use a PLOX like strategy with it. Maybe that just makes his GG a bad PLOX. But then what about when he goes turbo on the galades: Is a PLOX just a bad GG?

LBJs FTW

Agreed with berra gud. Its a lack of imagination. but when you add imagination you get these amazing techs that win regionals(Eric Craig?) GG is a deck with which ppl play to win, and people who use plox just like to make it look more painful. You can play each the other way, which makes it a great deck. Telling ppl they have no imagination doesnt mean they will stop trying to win with an incredible deck however.

yeah i did not tell you people that GGPLOX suck because it is a great deck that win lots of contest. its just so boring !

LBJ's FTW.
both decks have gallade and gardevoir in them, with at least a 1-1 claydol. so the initial parts of the deck are the same. However the trainer engine and the energys may be slightly different from each other, which is normal in any metagame because i doubt there will be lots of identical lists at one tournament. GG and PLOX are both variations on those initial parts of the decks. So PLOX and GG are just names for ideas of a deck based on those same initial parts.

Hmm, so much garbage in the one thread, they had to start a second bag, err, I mean thread. OMG people, WHY ARE YOU ALL ARGUING OVER SOMETHING SO STUPID?? Let people call their decks whatever they want and accept that. There is so much other more serious stuff going on in the world that you seriously are taking time to argue over something so stupid as what a deck is called and how it works? I said it in the last thread, if this is so important that this argument goes over 5 pages now, then get a life. THIS IS A CARD GAME!!! I seriously cannot believe you people are arguing about this, and a lot of you are adults or mid-late teens. This is supposed to be a fun game and all I see here is bickering over something so stupid on what a deck is called and if it is different than another deck with a different name. Call it whatever you want and stop complaining why someone else calls it something different. Also, stop arguing over who created what deck. that just make this bickering even more childish.

**once again getting off soapbox**

I don't focus on any one card when playing PLox, I just pull out Gardevoir when I need it, and pull out Gallade when I feel I need it. End of story. That's how every deck should be played.

Rambo: I don't even need to make you look stupid anymore. You're doing my job for me! You'll get a check in the mail shortly.

Remember everybody, in order to have a cool POKEMON team, "invent" a deck, give it a internet meme for a name, post all about it if it catches on, make fun of stupid noobs (stupid noobs, how dare they start playing Pokemon 10 years after it came out. Nubbienubbie!), then start crying and flailing your arms in frustration as soon as someone treats you like you've treated others and ignore/mock anyone who disagrees with you.

zman: I was bored when I made this, and R have given me chuckles galore. Seriously, I wasn't even gonna try a serious discussion with kids who are obviously mad about the Hannah Montana tour not being more affordable. I can almost guarantee that nobody in R, except maybe Ryan, will give you a straight answer to ANY question you direct at their logic. It's hilarious, and it makes poking them with a stick so much more enjoyable. Like a punching bag that squeals when hit.

You have no idea how well you read Alex. He's been upset lately, as most people can tell by his tone as of late.

I just know that for every person who says they dislike us we have 5 PMs wanting advice and help... and we give it. Sip on your Hatorade all you guys want. At the end of the day we're on the discussion board and you're...well... doing the discussing =X
