Idea for a Gym Leader system

As far as I can tell ultimatedra has been the most sensible person with the most solid rules and ideas. I vote to make them head of this operation and have them proposition one task at a time until it is complete. Who else agrees with this line of action?

You have any idea how we should start the votes. WE already know not everyone will get picked but the best 8 we can find. I can already say Pikamaster and Chompy for sure but Chompy does other stuff in the way of Brawl more. I waould want a Flying gym for the first time around but if won't be fair to everyone if I'm a default leader. That would mean only 7 people would be able to pick gyms.

If no one else has anything to say, we can close the thread start the votes. We just make everyone here submit and app, we can go over them and pick the best 8, like applying for a job. That way, this step can be complete and we can move on to picking our leaders.

It does seem reasonable that the tournament going on be used to select a couple of GL's (should they have time to do this / want to do this). Other than that, sifting through applications from the other thread seems reasonable. However, I think its hard to get a feel for someone's abilities just via an application. Perhaps one of you two can battle the borderline applicants to get a feel for them?

I thank a small tournament with the people that want to be GL's should be held. The winners of the first round are in then if we don't have all 8 of the GL's then the ones that lost will battle and so on with the winners. As well as apps so that we can get a fill for the GL's and then the battles can show some of there skills. Then the winners start with the picking of the gyms that want to be.

To determin someones skills at being selected as a GL, there should be a few people who do not want to be a GL who can rate on a scale - say 1-10 (who is not biased or favortism influenced) who will battle the applicants. The rules for those battles should be best 2/3, and not be "GL themed", and the battle tower rules apply for those battles. when the applicants have been rated, the "testers" will colaborate on thier personal results and combine thier findings to give a final rating for the applicants. Any thoughts on this?

If we do what Benzo said I would like to be one of the poeple that get to test the GL applicants I thank that would be fun. So if we do that thank of me as one of the testers.
I would have tried for being a GL but I have to much on my plate to say I have the time all of the time. So I thank it would be cool to at lest test some of them.

I too, would not mind being a tester. We would need to have the applicants established, so maybe setting a deadline for those applicants to sign up and get that portion of this idea rolling.
Any others for ideas on establishing the GL's?

With Benzo's idea I thank maybe all of the GL's should battle all of the testers so we can get more of an idea of there level of battleing the GL applicants are then with the scores added up we can set the GL's up by the score. With that then we know were to start off the GL applicants by the best of the 8 and set them from starting level to champion level.
I'm just throwing that out there as an idea so there'll be lest steps to setting the GL's up in there spots because the ones people might say should be the first or last gym the GL for that gym may not fit the spot as well was the type placing.

On top of that, it tests the candidate's commitment to the position. (To get in you have to battle 3 or so people which means people more likely to stay for the long term will do this while those that are not willing to devote the time / dont have the time are moer likely to be filtered out.

I like that too. Battle Tower rules sound good as well. The use of 3 Pokemon really puts people in a tight spot if they don't have the right picks. I say go for it.

Alright Benzo, you're chief of the testers. If you are going to be a tester yourself, find yourself 2 more guys.

I volunteer to test out the applicants. I have plenty of experience with competitive pokemon battling and proof of it if needed. Chances are likely I'll be one of the first to battle the soon-to-be PokeGym Gym Leaders and unfortunately cannot commit myself to becoming a GL at this current time due to work and TCG League responsibilities.

I think that utilizing the voting thread for posting results will be best. As for testers communicating with each other, MSN or AIM are wonderful for quick communication. :thumb:
