NFL Playoff Talk UPDATE 3 (AFC/NFC Championships!!!)

Well for next week I got Pats > Chargers and Gmen >> Packers.
Today imo was arguably phillip rivers best game of his career. Im one of those fans that think attitude shouldnt contend with talent because talent goes a long way but the way he disrespected some of the fans in the game was ridiculous. Although I rly cant say anything about my teams attitude today seeing after the bolts kicker missed the FG bob sanders "the defensive player of the year" displayed rly bad sportsmanship which i would never see coming from him espescially. By the looks of him doing it he was joking but it was hard to tell and the official made the right call. Imo this game was a big fluke because I dont see rivers ever having a game like that in his career ever again. Not only that him & LT were out at the half for the rest of the game. The colts defense played poorly so they rly did deserve to lose. props to the gmen and bolts 2 MAJOR UPSETS and hopefully the colts can find a rhythm next year.

It wasn't a fluke when your team can't beat a team without the best player in football in the 2nd half. There is no excuse. The Chargers were the better team on the field, and they have been the last 4 times they've played the Colts. It's not a major upset, people should have realized this. I don't know how you can possibly say Rivers won't play like this again. Well maybe you can, considering he'll just play BETTER. Do you not realize he is still a young QB? Yeah, look how long it has taken Eli Manning. Keep in mind he has nearly 2 more years on Rivers in starts. I hope the Bolts can upset the Patriots, though, I'm really tired of them.

As for the Cowboys, simply put: embarassing performance. How can you lose at home with the Giants' banged up secondary? So many drops, horrible penalties. Whatever, Packers are clearly the best team in the NFC regardless of what happened in this game, and they will be representing the NFC.

First off, I was COMPLETELY wrong on almost every count for my prediction...Go me for not keeping up with football!

But yeah, at this point in time I'd like to see the Chargers or the Giants win the title. The Chargers have "hope" written all over them going into this game against the vicious Patriots, and the Giants have shown that they're a team of integrity and bravery, barely losing to the Pats, and embarrassing Dallas at home.

Giants beat Slack, 31-21. Part of this is that I'm a Bears fan, and I HAVE to pick against the Slack at every turn. Another part is that I just can't see how this team keeps winning. I don't see anything special out of Ryan Grant, Donald Driver, or any of the Slack's offensive players except Brett Favre. The only defensive player that I really see anything out of is AJ Hawk. I'm still hesitant to call Eli a great QB yet, even after the last three weeks. Get to the SB, then I'll give you that title. The Giants have a great running game that is at least 3 deep of good players with different running styles. They also have a spectacular front 4 on defense, enough to get to Favre even with those shifty feet. Yes, the secondary is banged up. But they're playing inspired football right now. I just like the Giants in this game.

Patriots over Boltz, 35-27. The Boltz are playing great now. The Pats are simply better in every aspect except for their running game. They force you into playing their style of game. They did it with the Jags (how can you let David Garrard throw 33 times and only allow for 22 runs?), and they've done it with pretty much every team they've faced this year. Brady's 26/28 isn't terribly abnormal for him, just a little bit better than he's been. Maroney's 22/122 stat line is spectacular, and it looks like this team is finally establishing a run game set up by the pass. Their defense is solid but not spectacular. But, when you're scoring 40 points in a game, you just need a solid but unspectacular defense.

Pats D is ranked 4th. I think that qualifies as alittle better then solid. I really like how the giants are playing right now. But I have this underlining feeling that the packers will pull away from the giants amazing run with a win.
Packers 23 Giants 17
Patriots 35 Chargers 21

Pats D may be ranked 4th, but when you let a team with not much of a passing attack throw it around the yard on you, it shows that you aren't great. I think San Diego should be fully healthy for the game, and anybody that can go into Indy and beat the Colts has a chance to knock off the Pats.

Well from my perspective of the chargers vs. colts game is that the patriots will do the same thing the colts offense did except perfect it.
U blitz on brady he'll throw short. You dont blitz and give him time, a receiver is gonna be open. The colts did this against the chargers and it worked all until the 2nd half and after the 2nd half when the players started dropping the football left and right it was a disaster. Thats why ultimately it was a shocking game because how does addai or dallas clark drop the ball. You could say the same about the cowboys game. Getting to the red zone 2/3 times and turning the ball over. I can see the patriots doing the same gameplan that the colts used except it will be much more effective.

Personally, I felt that the referees in the Cowboys V. Giants game was controlled the game....

How many of those calls were legit imo? 2-3! The others werent called for (Thats right Refs! Im talking to you)....

Chargers are victorious, Patriots are defeated

Gino Rivers' performance definitely was not a fluke. He is maturing before our eyes and Vincent Jackson is turning into a star. He had a great performance against Tennessee as well in a game where LT only had 2 ypc...I am annoyed by how alot of people are calling that win lucky. LT was out for a half, Rivers out for a quarter, Gates hurt... etc etc... yeah injuries are a part of teh game and the Colts had Freeney sidelined and Harrison out towards the end, but the bottom line is the Chargers outplayed the Colts! Two very good teams and on any given day it could go either way but that day was the Bolts' day!

Chargers didnt pressure Manning much though... gotta get some pressure on Brady or he'll pick you apart... Chargers best in league at forcing turnovers and Patriots best in league at not turning the ball over. SOMETHINGS GOTTA GIVE! Bolts gotta win the turnover battle to have a chance.

You call a quarterback throwing 402 yards and 3 TDs outplayed? Plz mannn get ur facts straight. I could care less about injuries its how you perform that makes it count. Now if you wanna say the chargers outplayed the colts they won by 4. Thats really not outplaying. Outplaying a team is like getting a X-0 lead over an opponent or for instince the pats game vs. u 2nd game into the season 38-15 or w/e the score was. Thats really a bad example seeing the chargers are so much better right now. The fact is you guys beat the colts and all the colts offense had to do was catch the ball and the two picks would have been avoided. We went to the red zone 3 times and turned the ball over. Say the same with the dallas cowboys. All due respect to the chargers that game was a great game! But to say the colts were outplayed is kinda ridiculous.

You don't have to beat a team by 3 TD's to outplay them, in my opinion atleast... The bottom line is the Chargers were the superior team on that day. It shoulda been a bigger win anyway seeing as how there was a phantom hold on Cro's pick six :). Not to mention Kaeding left 3 points on the board

The Chargers made more plays on that day, perhaps if they had a rematch the Colts would win but that day was not their day, period! FWIW the Bolts went 2-0 v the Colts this year :)

D SPROLES OWNS THE COLTS:cool:

And the pats will be 2-0 against the chargers after this weekend. :p Shame we didn't have a chance to avenge ourselfs for last year against the colts but whatever.

You got it earlier this year when you beat them in a very similar situation (down 2 scores in the 4th, comeback to win).

Not gonna happen. Chargers will win the turnover battle, and emotionally the chargers are ******. Also, I;ve never seen a team be considered the underdog THIS much in my life, That has to add some fuel to the fire.

So winning by a small margin isn't getting outplayed? If you blow a coverage that results in a game-winning TD, you were outplayed. If you force a fumble on the other team's winning drive with a minute left and win by 1, you have outplayed them.

Remember the last game Green Bay played against the Bears? They lost by a big margin and were outplayed. It works both ways.

Catching a football is fundamental. Dropped passes are unacceptable for a team making a Super Bowl bid, and if the other team catches their passes and you don't, then yes, you've been outplayed at an elementary level. To say that the Chargers winning was a fluke is kinda ridiculous when the Colts had problems executing one of, if not THE most basic skill in the game.

Everything on the football field happens for a reason; pressure on the QB results in bad throws, which results in picks. Barring freak occurrences where a ball bounces off of a player's helmet and into the other teams hands or something like that, there is almost no luck involved.

Really, executing basics is HUGE. You don't see New England dropping passes or missing tackles very often. That's what separates a good team from a great team.

Brady is going to throw an interception???? In the playoffs???? Blasphemy. And the pats aren't emotionally pumped??? They are playing for an undefeated season and to regain the respect of the rest of the league. And the pats having the pressue of the entire world on their shoulders won't add fuel to thier fire? I can't wait to make LT eat his words...again.
