The official Japanese Pokemon TCG website has been updated with new info on the upcoming Diamond&Pearl card set.

Below is a link showcasing some of the changes in the new series.

Two thirds of the way down. It looks like our new ex cards are pokemon level X. I don't see an 'evolves from' thing, is it possible that lvl x Pokemon evolve from the stage 2 forms via the poke power (like baby evolution)?

Looks like dark and metal energies will be seeing some changes, as well. Possibly reverting to basic energies now that they have no additional text.

Translations Courtesy of Bangrias

-Before, the player going first wasn't able to draw a card on their initial
turn. With the new rules, both players draw a card at the beginning of
every turn.

-The player going first can't play any Trainer Cards (Trainers, Supporters,
or Stadiums) on their initial turn. Before, the restriction only applied
to Supporters but with the modified rules, no Trainer Cards may be played.

-Claw Fossil, Mysterious Fossil, and Root Fossil can not be put into play
on the first player's initial turn. These cards CAN be put into play during
the initial setup phase.

-If Claw Fossil, Mysterious Fossil, or Root Fossil is Knocked Out, the opponent
takes a prize. (If the owner of the Fossil card chooses to discard it,
it is not considered a Knocked Out Pokemon.) Fossils are to be treated
as Trainer cards while in the deck, hand, discard pile, and prize area.

-Up until now, there have been 5 types of cards categorized as "Trainers"
(Trainers, Supporters, Stadiums, Pokemon Tools, and Technical Machines).
In the DP series, Trainers, Supporters, and Stadiums are all classified
as "Trainer Cards," but only Trainers, Pokemon Tools, and Technical Machines
are considered "Trainers".

-When calculating Weakness and Resistance, add or subtract the number written
in the Weakness and Resistance section of the card. The way that damage
is calculated on ex cards goes unchanged. If running ex and DP cards together
in a deck, damage done to DP series cards is calculated with addition and
subtraction while ex cards take double damage for weakness and -30 damage
for resistance.

-Basic Energy versions of Darkness and Metal energy appear in the DP series.
Basic Darkness and Metal energy do not have any any special effects and
any number may be put in a deck. Special Energy versions of Darkness and
Metal Energy may be run along with the Basic versions, with a limit of 2
copies in a 30 card deck and 4 copies in a 60 card deck.

-If a card says, "Attach a Darkness Energy to 1 of your Pokemon," either
the Special Energy or Basic Energy version of the card will meet the requirement.

-All of the Unown in the DP series are named according to their letter (i.e.
Unown A, Unown B). Each differently named Unown is treated as a different
card. In the ex series all Unown were treated as if they had the same name.
In a 60 card deck you can have 4 Unown A, 4 Unown B, and 4 ex-series Unown.
Also, if a card says, "Choose 1 Unown," Unown A, Unown B, or an ex-series
Unown will meet the requirement.

-Pokemon LV.X (Level X) cards have an "X" where the level number should be.
An Active Pokemon can be "Leveled Up" by placing the LV.X card of the same
name on top of it. The LV.X card should be treated as another copy of the
Pokemon it shares a name with, and 30 card decks are limited to 2 copies of a
card with the same name while 60 card decks are limited to 4 copies of a card
with the same name. For example, Dodaitoise and Dodaitoise
LV.X have the same name, so in a 60 card deck you can have 4 in any combination
of Dodaitiose and Dodaitoise LV.X while in a 30 card deck you can have 2
in any combination of Dodaitoise and Dodaitiose LV.X

-In the DP series, an Active Pokemon can be Leveled Up during your turn.
A Pokemon can't be Leveled Up on the same turn that it comes into play.
As long as they're Active, multiple Pokemon can be Leveled Up during your
turn. Energy and damage counters that were on the Pokemon before it Leveled
Up remain on that Pokemon. A Pokemon recovers from Poison, Burn, Sleep,
Paralysis, and Confusion when it Levels Up. Any other effects that were
on the Pokemon also go away.

TL;DR version
-The player going first gets to draw a card
-The player going first can't play any Trainers, Supporters, or Stadiums
-Supporters and Stadiums are no longer considered "Trainers" (for purposes of cards like Mawile)
-Fossils are considered KOed Pokemon
-Fossils are Trainers whenever they're not in play (Fossil = mulligan again?)
-Weakness is now a set number as opposed to double damage
-LV.X cards and non-LV.X cards are considered cards of the same name.
-The LV.X is played exactly like an evolution card, albeit on top of the card
of the same name instead of a prevo

holy crape you guys....
that looks awsome....
but i hope ex cards are not discontinuated, they where the best when they of the best while they lasted...
also it seems that is something as a gold star pokemon, besides of having the art as star pokemon it also has a gold star , or at least it seems so

Basic Dark and Metal energy? AWEsome!

lv.X pokemon? Nice!

I'm getting chills just thinking about it.

Hey, Bangiras! Can we get some sort of translation for this stuff? I'm intrigued...

Ok I figured it out the thing about Trainer cards.

From DP on, the Trainer cards are sorted in a different way.

Under the name "TRAINER", there will be standard Trainer cards, Pokémon Tools, and Technical Machines.
There will be "SUPPORTER" cards, and "STADIUM" cards, and the picture on the site hints that new Supporter and Stadium may have some sub-types on them.

Working on it...

Everything about this set looks amazing. Reprinted Plus Power? Stage THREE Pokemon? I can't wait until November!

Did you see the new rules??

The player going first does draw a card on their 1st turn now.
The player going first can't play ANY trainers on their first turn.

Back to back posts merged. The following information has been added:

The stage 2 and lv. x pokemon have the same name, so you can only have up to 4 of them total in a deck.

Back to back posts merged. The following information has been added:

What does this mean about leveling up?

To from the DP series being able to make your own turn "バトルポケモン is made to level up" is added. It just put out to the place as for ポケモン, it is not possible to make level up directly in the same turn. If it is ポケモン which is in the battle place, plural ポ it is possible in your own turn to make モン level up. Levelling up, the energy which has been attached before the levelling up and the damage counter which was riding does that way. When it levels up, it had received to that, "don't you think? どく burn it recovers from a special state it is such as viewing excessiveness paralysis densely". It becomes without either the other effect which has been received to that.

hmmm...
also look at the unowns right above where it shows pokemon-x. looks like the unown's letter is in their name, so, i'm assuming now that you can use 4 of any type of unown (as long as they have the letter in their regular name. so you still can only use 4 unowns from UF. but it looks like it works differently for the d/p unowns).

Doubtful. It's probably the Neo Unowns, where you can only have 4 cards with Unown in their name in your deck.

It's a new game, you can't use DP cards with old ones. I think we'll have a few sets before DP to play Worlds and 2007-2008 season will be DP-on

Yeah combining the new cards with the old ones doesn't seem plausible, I wonder what PUI is going to do, guess we'll know in February.

Well I was proven wrong already.

I like these rules a lot, especially trainers unplayable on first turn now that they rereleased Pluspower.

I wish they didn't make it so that KOing fossils gives you prizes, though. That's silly and unneccessary.

Fossils are KOd pokemon?

So I could only have 2 blastoise and 2 blastoise Lv. X????

UNOWN POWER!

"As long as they're Active, multiple Pokemon can be Leveled Up during your

What does that mean? You can only level up active pokemon?
