Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Pokemon lv. X Revealed! A Preview of Upcoming Rule Changes in the Diamond Pearl set!

When calculating Weakness and Resistance, add or subtract the number written
in the Weakness and Resistance section of the card. The way that damage
is calculated on ex cards goes unchanged. If running ex and DP cards together
in a deck, damage done to DP series cards is calculated with addition and
subtraction while ex cards take double damage for weakness and -30 damage
for resistance.

This is really going to be fun.

Actually everything sounds really fun.

Will these rules apply to unlimited? I could see people losing because they went first.

-Fossils are Trainers whenever they're not in play (Fossil = mulligan again?)
Possible, but this seems to affirm that Fossils are still treated as Pokemon in the opening hand:

Claw Fossil, Mysterious Fossil, and Root Fossil can not be put into play
on the first player's initial turn. These cards CAN be put into play during
the initial setup phase.
Though the language makes it a little vague...

So you can only "level up" active pokemon? That would stink. I can see many Switches and Warp Points being used in decks. Or lots of Stage 1 or Basic oriented decks. Could this be the end of Stage 2 heavy decks as we know it?

Well I thought Active pokemon are the ones on your bench and in play. I remember the rule book says Active pokemon include benched pokemon. Or maybe it was In Play pokemon includes pokemon on your bench. I will have to check.

Awman, this has really turned things on its head.

Personally, I'd like to see some way of harmoniously combining the old and new blocks together so we can gradually phase out the old sets as usual intead of charging straight into DP-on next year.

I dont think there will be a problem mixing DP and old cards. Just play the weaknesses and resistances as you see them on the card.

where is the set list plz?

Back to back posts merged. The following information has been added:

No, you're thinking of In Play. Active only refers specifically to your ACTIVE, front position pokemon (either 1 or 2 depending on format)

Too many changes.....it would have been better have these changes set by set (as happened with Ex, stadium, burn condition...).

It would be the BIGGEST revolution after the game was released.

I dont like some of the changes, but, I will wait to see what happens before I say I really really dont like them...

I dont think lv. X pokemon will give 2 prizes to the opponent cause its gonna be a lot harder getting a stage 3 into play. The fossil rule seems stupid. Fossils werent broken in the first place.

I think Leveling UP is something different than evolving.
Leveling up can ONLY be done with lvl X pokemon at the active spot.

So you have any kind stage 2? active, than you can level up by putting the lvl X pokemon of the same name on top of it.
I think that's what it says.

Normal evolutions will be like before, there is only a gamemechanic added it's called Level Up.

EXAMPLE

zubat-globat-crobat- crobat (lvl X)
You have zubat active, play rare candy to make it crobat.
But you cannot level up to crobat (lvl x) that turn because of the new rules.
You can also NOT do zubat rare candy into crobat (Lvl x) (because it does not evolve from but is only allowed to level up)
