Shiny pokemon

Yesterday, hatched a Shiny Snivy (now EV trained) via Masuda Method ^^

But is it Contrary? =|

I can't believe I didn't post about my shiny Golett here. I was so excited lmao. But yeah, it just appeared, I caught it, lulz were had.

No :( It's just going to be a speedy Reflect/Light Screener. Glare for paralysis support and Leaf Blade to be able to deal damage.
It's not that bad. It's Jolly and has 31 in Speed.

Seeing how there is no way to get Contrary on snivy yet, i would say it has to be no.

Yeah, otherwise I would have assumed it was Contrary!

Though, couldn't you have gotten a Japanese Contrary Snivolution and bred it to get Contrary on the offspring? Or am I wrong?

All of the Japanese DW starters so far have been set to always be male. And only female Pokemon can pass on their DW ability. So assuming that they do the same with the 5th gen starters as they have with all of the others then there won't be any baby DW Snivly running around. And that means no egg moves either. :frown:

^Add that in to my personal theory that 98% of Unova Pokemon won't get their DW ability until either BW3 or the remakes of this gen are released, and we could be waiting a while. >.<

I just started MMing for a shiny Petilil, my favorite Gen 5 Pokemon. I've got a Modest parent holding an Everstone, and 8 of the 12 parent's stats have IVs over 20, so I have high hopes for the offspring. :) I'm at 30, one full box.

The Illusive and Agrivating Shiny Pokemon

In my Pokemon White Version, I have been shiny hunting, but have not gotten any sucess. :nonono:
I was Wondering, is there anybody out there who knows tricks or tips to catch the shiny?

Sadly there a little to know tricks to get shiny Pokemon. One of the easiest but still long method is the Masuda Method. You might wanna look it up.

Tips? My tip is called RNG. Go look it up... it will take a long time, but it will save you a lot of frustration in the long run. If you don't want to use it, have fun hatching those eggs!

Also, what does "shiny hunting" entail? Battling random pokemon indefinitely? Hatching 2 billion eggs?

Masuda and chaining were basically the way to do it in gen 4 iirc, outside of RNGing.

Other than that, yeah, just run through the grass a bunch.

That... is just wrong. Total waste of time and (assuming you get exactly 1 shiny in 8000andwhatever pokemon) is just inefficient. Kayle, I just google'd "Masuda". Never knew that technique by that name... but w/e. Now that chaining is gone (really sad face), I'd still argue that, if you can learn it, RNG is your best bet. Masuda method saves time, but is still really annoying.

Not always. If someone is willing to help, you can trade a pokemon to their game so that they game AR to find your SID. But usually... yes... you need a shiny to find your SID. Masuda method is great for that first shiny.

Or you can just be ludicrously lucky, like me.

Alternatively, you can earn Shiny Pokemon from me and Pikamaster by playing in our DS league... *shameless product placement*

The Secret ID (SID) just gives you a root to start from in order to abuse the Random Number Generator (the RNG) in order to increase your chances (if you're good with RNG manipulation, it's almost guaranteed) of finding a shiny Pokemon.

Hmm.. Perhaps I will take a break from BW and practise on dittos in my Platinum. I've been reading up on it on other sites, and have a shiny Tyrouge I caught in Black, but no clue where to go next. Thanks!
