Situation with Pokebeach

Really? They don't communicate with me. Anything I hear is "behind my back" kinda stuff.

Like I said, all I get is scans from the e-mail I gave Mike, and that's it. I don't ask any questions since the person does not want to be identified or be questioned. What I DO know is that he is not a TO or PTO. That was the first thing I asked when he first contacted me a few sets ago.

All I know is when I first log online, I check my my$pace. Then I check pokebeach. Then I check pokegym in order to talk about what information has been released on pokebeach. Pokebeach to me, is the premiere site for card translations. If anything appears on the gym, as far as translations go, i know it most likely originated from pokebeach anyway. I don't need someone to put pokebeach in citation. To me the beach gives good news but I must say I was shocked and unbelievably disappointed when I found that WPM limited the translations to his forum viewers. I am going to be blunt, the pokegym forums consist of the most narrow-minded and "childish" pokemon players I have ever seen. To prevent members of the gym from discussing card translations that realistically don't even BELONG to pokegym is absurd. If you don't want anyone "stealing" from your site then, dont post anything at all. WPM makes it seem like we don't appreciate what he posts. We do, and if he can't see past the fact that information spreads it is then, he needs to reevaluate his outlook on this situation. Then he posts on here and says "Oh now I am glad because I can post more cards exclusively for beach members." That displays juvenile. I had to take 5 minutes out of my day to register on the beach just to look at card translations? Puh-Lease!

First: Yes, beach often (but not always) gets spoilers up faster than the Gym, but we do not take their spoilers for our own. To imply that is done is insulting. Our scans are our scans and our translations are given to use by those that did the translating.
Yes, members can and will quote spoilers found on the Beach and within "fair use" guidelines (source cited and not too much of the data quoted). However, if it's not sourced properly (with a link) or copies too much, it may be deleted. That is what happened to the thread under discussion.
Second: I'm not sure, but I think you might want to proofread your post and make sure you have "pokegym" where you mean "pokegym" and "pokebeach" where you mean "pokebeach".

I have always assumed that the leaker has to be someone at PUI, I mean who else would have access to all of this information beforehand? If it was just the Cards, I suppose it could be someone at the Printers company, but now that the Promo Sleeve info is leaked beforehand, that can not be the case. I doubt that the same company that makes the cards also makes the sleeves. Therefore it probably is someone who would have access to both of those, I can not think of anyone but an PUI staffer who would have much information at his disposal.

Now this is strictly speculation on my part, as I have absolutely no Idea where WPM's information comes from. I am just posting my thoughts on the subject. I am just glad that he has a source and that WPM has a forum (his website) that he so nicely shares his information with the rest of the Pokemon Community.

To respond your first statement, I was talking about the current situation at hand. If I had seen the deleted post then, yes I would've most likely have seen the information on beach first because that is the website I always check first. I am not saying that the gym ALWAYS gets their scans from the beach. Nor am I saying that futhermore, the gym doesn't cite the beach. I just don't think it is that big of a deal it happens ALL the time.

Apparently it gives you a choice of either: Discard 1, draw 3 or Discard 2, draw 4.

Seems like it could be the next staple draw card.

This is not a matter of Gym VS Beach. It's a matter of me not wanting incomplete and possibly erroneous translations on the main page of a big website. Pokebeach has an active main page and a quiet forum. The spoilers that were posted this afternoon were meant as a teaser for the dedicated forum members, with a more polished update coming later tonight for everyone else. I did not want those spoilers to get onto the Gym, where they'd gain much wider exposure and be preserved forever, complete with errors.

BOTH sites are eventually going to have the same info. There is nothing here to fight about.

Let me share a few thoughts:

Bangiras and Nanimonoka have their own page to post spoilers up here, which they use. Its on the front page, in the left navbar. I really appreciate their contributions... we all do.

Spoilers... there used to be partial & in-progress spoilers on the Gym. I think Jon is saying those are now exclusive to Jon's site. I don't know why the change, if its true, but if there is anything we missed that caused that, Ryah and Nimomosandesu know where to contact me and I'll make it right. I'll send some PMs to see if I can get their wishes straight. I appreciate Tego's offer to translate. We're not out to 'get' anyone or 'scoop' everyone here... the Gym is about sharing info about the game and digging deeper on it. We appreciate everyone who contributes.

Scans... are the property of the copyright holder. Fansites all get to display them at their sufferage. That said, its a lot of work to put up good scans. I don't support people using scans from other sites as content on their own site, no matter where they came from or went to. It may not be actionable, but its just rude to the person who did the work. PokeGym has its own scans, and a unique research system and up until this set has beat Jon's site to publishing the complete set, like 5 sets running. I'm not saying don't go to his site or you don't need to go to his site, I'm just pointing out to anyone who may ONLY go to Jon's site for scans, we're not totally behind the curve. Of course, as a board our policy is try to show respect to the entire community... including TOs/PTOs running events, PUI, etc. And many of those people would like us to NOT reveal anything until the pre-releases have started, and we respect THEM.
