Why mention you when half of your posts declare how good you are? I think the point has already been made...

Well if that were the case, then nobody would ever say that Seena Ghaziaskar is good, either. However, his two catch phrases on every board he posts on,

"I won nats"

and

"I won the STS"

who's the other
time for my t16 apperence this year =D....Actully, no Canadian has t16 in 15+ yet....no wonder everyone thinks we suck lol

Alright, it's a late response, but the answer is: Yuki Fujimori. 4th place 2004 and 16th place 2005.

Yamoto and Fujimori make the only two players to get top16 at both Worlds so far.

As far as Ness is concerned, ANYONE whose been playing this game for SIX YEARS will amount a huge number of tournament wins and awards. I AM NOT trying to take away from anything he's done in his career, but just keep in mind that Ness has been amassing wins for years, while Yamato has only played in three tournaments on this side of the Pacific. And how did he do in those?

Winner Japinese Nationals '04 (undefeated)
Winner Worlds '04 (undefeated)
6th Place Worlds '05

That kind of record is impressive for ANYONE. Even more so when you remember that those are the only three tournaments he's played in outside of Japan.

Yes, however, I take these catch phrases in an almost self-comedic way...though no doubt he means it, I don't sense the abbrasive nature I sense from...err....other places.

And this is not to take away from martin, I think you're a good player;
it is no secret that I am not a fan of certain attitudes which run rampant among some of our best. That's doesn't make me right, but I am (to an extent) a beleiver in winning with both class and humility.

If a person has to constantly assert that they are better than someone else that is upsetting to me.

Maybe I read Martin wrong.

And don't get me wrong - I think being cocky is something great competitors have - but they have it to a certain extent and show it in a certain way.

YJ, W/e ! Please don't imply I am jealous of him or anything he has accomplished. I'm not!

I LIKE Stephen-i really do. He is a good kid and was a phenominal player in his day. won everything.
BUT.... Like i said yesterday on a different post- when you do something "shady" it will taint everything you've accomplished in this game.

Now Stephen won just about everything, so it is obv. he has talent- and plenty of it.

But no excuse- accident or not - to have cards in your lap second day of worlds. No excuse at all.

i have talked to people involved in what happened. Why he didn't get a dq is beyond me.

All this aside- he was one of the best 11-14 players ever!

If your out there steven - come back and face the music, show the world what you can do. and do it
honestly. can't speak for everyone, but i'd welcome you back.

Back to back posts merged. The following information has been added:

Chu- Bobby is 12- and can play with the best of them. When he is 14 you know who he is. i guarantee this!

I didn't mean YOU specific are jealous, I was more meaning that towards other 11-14 that kept saying that stuff because he beat them. Also, John. So you say it was the 2nd day at worlds that happened? Right THERE your story is flawed. It was the first day, it happened I believe round 5 or 6, he's already 4/5-0. He OBVIOUSLY can win at least another match to make sure he gets in out of how ever many they played. He had NO reason to be cheating there at all already making top cut with almost no doubt =\. Which also leads me to think he didn't do it. No reason to, judges go BACK on the DQ they initially gave. He actually WAS DQed in the incident. He was immediately given a game loss, and DQed, they LIFTED that DQ and allowed him back in due to no real evidence he was cheating. That right there again makes me not so eager to believe it. =\. So say he did something "Shady". He didn't. I have talked with him and others sitting around him that saw it and didn't think he really did it. So there's both sides there =\.

Eric P.

Played the game for 3 weeks when he went top 8 at Nationals

Followed that up 2 months later with top 8 at worlds.

Literally a brand new player that SPLOOSHED onto the scene.

Look John, what happened is old news. Day one- sorry , my mistake. But SOMETHING obv. happened , yes?

dq ed, then not, w/e. I never totally understood how that situation was handled because i wasn't involved.

I for one have NEVER believed Steven needed to cheat to win any of his games - EVER!
He was/ is a phenominal player - even kicked my *** at a modified side event at nats 2 years ago :)

Back to topic. It all is irrelevant y/j- Stephen davis was probally the most accomplished player EVER in the 11-14 age group. NO denying this.

But the incident will follow him around and people will always wonder.Another reason i wish he would come back.

And did you read my ENTIRE post John? I , not only wish, but would WELCOME Steven back to OP!
Like Seena, such a talent should never walk away from the game IMHO.

And if I really believed steven was a cheater do you think i would say anything positive at all about him?

No , i wouldn't.

John, we like you a lot and i'm sorry if i offended you. I don't want - or need- a ******* contest with you over this or anything else. You and your mom are good people that my family likes to see.

I have my opinions on this- like everyone else- but it just isn't important enough to me to argue with
you over them.

It's all good here- hope you feel the same way.

James B. is the best player in any age division, of, for, and from all time/s. It will be proven!

Dave...we shall see...

We shall see....

The problem is that even in the younger age divisions...there are usually about 8-12 people at a "major" event like Worlds or US Nationals that are within 15% of each other..

James may be that 115%...but he could get knocked off...just on matchups or 2 bad starts to a 100% player.

That is why I do not put a WHOLE lot of stock in Worlds results...because some of it is luck and Random.

Even the best made deck, on average, will have 2 >__< starts per day.

Just pray they do not come at a crucial time!

Has Jermy been mentioned yet?

From my knowledge, he didn't win a single tournament until Worlds, and he got his trip to Worlds at Canadian nationals? And even there, didn't win.

There's no way he's the best. Yamato could easily be better than that, winning a worlds, T8 at last year's, winning nationals, etc.

True, true, but when considering "The best player ever" we should also consider things like when James played up 2 age divisions at the Manitowok, WI Gym Challenge 2005 and won. Before you say "Yea, but that WI." he beat Big Chuck 01 in round 6, Ness in round 7, and AXE in round 8 to go 8-0 on the day. Can anyone in any age division say that? In my book, that's impressive!

Jeremy sure gets kicked around a lot here. He may not be the best player ever, but the guy won Worlds. He more than earned it, and deserves more respect than he gets. Did I mention he won Worlds?

Are you kidding me?! OF COURSE you have lost to me, you can't even compete WITH GEORGE!!!

With that said, No one on this forum should make ridiculous comments like that. Whether it be me or someone else. Becuase in reality, anyone could lose to anyone.
