Tyranitar Prime Discussions

I'm not trying to say Ttar is good, but it did top 8 at Nats. It was used with serperior and jirachi to capitalize on darkness howl.

That means it wont be played meaning KingBuzz has one bad matchup less and Tyranitar one good matchup less. The matchups are stil lthere but how likely are you gonna come across them?

I can just Kill my babies, allowing me to use Twins.

You assume that Tyranitar is worse because can't do very good VS DonChamp but KingBuzz can it's better? KingBuzz can't really beat MagneBoar or ZPS. Tyranitar can beat it.

Unfortunately, that is not true. Tyranitar loses to both ZPS and Magneboar. Magnezone one shots Tyranitar and Zekrom outspeeds it by a ton and will reversal your zorua or whatever your using everytime it gets the chance. So technically your point is is incorrect and KingBuzz still has one more better matchup.

KingBuzz is just way easier to set up than Tyranitar. You put one or two kingdras on the board, then you can attack with mandibuzz straight away. With Tyranitar, you have to set it up, then attack, then retreat it, or switch then attack with mandibuzz. Its just not worth it.

TBH Mandibuzz isnt really competitive to begin with :p

^I beat MagneBoar and Zekrom at Nats. Megaton Tail can OHKO both of em. I could reversal anything that I can OHKO easy like Magnemite that is left in the bench.

Just because you beat them at nats doesnt mean you have a favorable matchup. I beat Kingdra Yanmega at nats with Donphan/Machamp, and I CERTAINLY do not have a favorable matchup versus that. No offense to your opponent, but it must have been two very sub par lists to not be able to beat Tyranitar/Mandibuzz. Magnezone one shots, so does RDL, and zekrom can get the t2 120 with reversals 80% of the time. I expect NO mandibuzz varients to top cut at worlds or win grinders simply because of the fact of so much Kingmega and yanmegazone.

And if they didnt kill you by the time you used megaton tail a couple times, then that only reinforces my point that the lists werent high quality.

Because it can also be used to attack Donphan and you can target all pokemon, not just dark. The power alone just is more useful then sending up a huge pokemon like ttar and spreading. The spread will also hurt your babies with ttar, making them vulnerable to a variety of things later.

Tyranitar can be used to attack Donphan as well, one shotting him with Megaton Tail. Obviously the matchup isn't favorable, but it's not like they win as soon as you flip your cards over. Donphan needs to either get double pluspower or 3 energy to knock you out, and it usually comes down to reversal flips while you're powering up your benched Tyranitar.

A power that does 10 damage per turn is not better than a 160 hp guy that does 20 to their entire board for D. You made a huge overstatement there.

The spread does hurt your babies, which is why you run Serperior. It's not hard to get out Serperior and Tyranitar, especially since you can abuse Twins.

In every post you've made in this topic you have unjust bias against Tyranitar, it has a lot of favorable matchups while you claim it "loses to the entire metagame."

Yes, but were not talking about Tyranitar/Serperior. hes talking about mandibuzz. I think Ttar/Serperior is a great deck, not joking, serperior (couldnt resist) in every way to manditar.

^XD
I agree, Serperior/Tyranitar is great.

And you are talking about Tyranitar alone.

You are right Manditar isn't the greatest. But it's fun to play.

I dont see Tyranitar doing well in the format at all tbh. Gets destroyed by Magneboar, destroyed by Donchamp, loses by Yanmega/Zone, and also loses to ReshiBoar/Zekrom. Not really good to have a deck that loses to all of the meta.

That's a pretty direct statement towards any Tyranitar variant.

My cuz is trying T-tar/Yanmega. Ttar is kinda slow, so he uses Yanmega early game while Ttar is setting up.

My apologies, I was meaning to be more clear. I meant the Tyranitar Varient of Mandibuzz. I was referring to the tyranitar variant HE was speaking of I just simplified it and said Tyranitar.

Sorry :p

Seems like a good combo, but is not the set-up still slow? And how often do the 2 pokemon cover the others weaknesses?
