Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

What's wrong with you Pokegym members?

Dude i want to have fun on the gym. I love the gym much better than the beach ( that is a diffrent thread on why though) but the real answer is i do not want to have a all out war with people with subjects that are nor the palce or time to talk about. Like Abortion and politics, each person has their feelings about them and people will become offended about each side so save those topics for school and just focus on the fun stuff:biggrin: and not the bad stuff:nonono:

If you didn't want to discuss stuff you could simply avoid the RTC or that thread there usually pretty clearly marked.

This.

I feel that the whole point of a Random Topic Center/Other area of a forum is to talk about other things. Whether they be touchy subjects or otherwise. So long as the rules are enforced for that particular forum, and so long as those ruling on such things are doing so fairly, there should be no problem with them. :3

'S too bad we don't have an age-lock/consent feature on the site for a particular part of the forum. I think that would help make some discussions a little more open. Then again, there are likely reasons that this hasn't occurred yet, soooo....

Why is pokegym so much more flametastic than pokebeach? Most people here think they're the greatest player to live. I can give countless examples of people who are so condesending and self righteous on this site it isn't even funny. If you look in this THREAD you'll see plenty of people like this. These kind of people constantly think their right and will not listen to anyone they think is "below them". At pokebeach I'm surprised how nice the members are to each other, and how they will listen to each other regardless of the other person's PREMIER RATING or AGE. Another thing, people treat this site like a joke. They go to a thread based on good discussion and try to be the funny guy just to get a few laughs. What does this do? Make a perfectly good discussion look like a joke. At pokebeach they actually TRY to help each other, some of the top players on that site will post their perfectly good decklists. They treat the other members like fellow members of a team.

Sure, there are some exceptions to what I'm saying. There ARE some annoying people like this on the beach. But not many, and those numbers are low enough so the site can have some decent discussion value.

Well, here's why I act like that here:

1. I don't respect the majority of the Staff of this site.

I respect BDS because he is my local TO and is just an awesome guy in person, R_A because he actually really seems to care what people (and almost never acts like a moron), and P_A because every single post he makes is so thorough you just can't fault anything he says. That's . . . pretty much it. How am I supposed to care about how I act when I can see through almost every terrible argument most staffers make? (On a side note, I am glad to see such awesome search tools on here, though. Maybe those will change things. I hope.)

2. Most players here are too inexperienced or closed-minded to really discuss anything with.

One can have his sound advice ignored (or argued with terrible/inaccurate points) only so many times before he just stops trying to help the general player base with advanced tactics. I got so tired of it (and seeing it happen to people like Vergal), I went and joined Hatter's team, and now I have a place to discuss higher-tier strategies. I just talk basic crap on the Gym now.

3. It relieves my stress and entertains me.

I have a stressful job. I'm easily entertained. Explanation finished.

I stopped going on the RTC (less that is) recently, ever since my last post about a disease...
And just on the side I never knew you could be born with it, so excuse me for that one.

So personally I DO have to agree with you, it would probably make it a "nicer" place without the RTC, but it's here to stay.
(Most likely)
Either way I'm fine with anything, if you really don't like the RTC don't check it.

Well, in case Pokegym isn't cutting it for you, you can always try out other boards...

I mostly agree with the OP.
A lot of Toxic's threads had meaning for greatness, but they always got thrown into a mess.
(Most of the time I see a topic liek that IU try to avoid it)
A lot of the people on Pokegym is childish.
Users and the Mods.
One acts Childish and the other acts Childish back.
Does not matter who acts it first.
I have given up a lot of hope on Pokegym.
That is why I go to a large amount of Pokemon Sites.

That would have seemed like a good thread to post on if it wasn't ruined by insulting remarks. One post even laughed at someones religious belief.

A few things.

I've read my share of forums. You see the same stuff usually. Rude people. Trolls. People that just want to start a fight. This has nothing to do with the Pokegym, it just has to do with the internet and people that surf the internet.

The Pokegym is so lucky to get reponses from TPCi staff, and to have a hand in rulings for the Compendium among other things. The Pokegym is seen as an unofficial official forum for Pokemon. Because of this, the Pokegym has to keep topics to a young age so that the young kids that do visit the forum (possibly with their parent) are not surrounded by adult topics. That is why some topics that are relatively fine on some forums aren't as welcome on this forum. If this was a Magic: The Gathering forum, there would be more slack on older oriented threads.

I'm sure people find posts that are rude, and don't understand why mods are deleting them. The mods should be doing their jobs, but we can't be online 24/7 because we have real lives too. Members can help mods so much if they would report posts that they feel break the rules. When a member reports a post, all the mods that are over that area of the forum get an email telling them about it. Reporting posts is the most useful tool on the forum that members can use to communicate with the mods. When in doubt, report. If we feel that the post doesn't deserve an infraction/deletion, you won't get in trouble. You have nothing to lose, really.

Now, I've never understood the reasoning behind the RTD on a theme-centric forum. Some of the topics we see in here could be in another area of the forum (or a potential new area of the forum) like playmats could be in an art section of the forum. But being that this is a Pokemon forum, I've never understood why we are allowed to discuss topics like the election, whats in the news, who just died, etc, etc.

I guess people should be happy there is a section there at all for random topics. Without RTD, there would be no thousand-page game threads, or places to post threads like these.

Oh well, I'm rambling on.

There's always disagreement when it comes to random topics. It becomes a problem when mods abuse power to diffuse arguments they have personal stake in since regular users' only recourse is trolling.
Just think about how many abortion threads have been *click*ed here.

That said, there are plenty of other poke-centric forums out there that will allow you to post or say whatever you want because there's no unofficial PG-ness officialdom to uphold.

Why shouldn't we be able to post threads like these? If someone can't handle a differing opinion, well, they shouldn't be on the internet to begin with, and it shouldn't be anyone's problem but theirs.

And you know....it's parent's responsibility to look after their child. Anyone who thinks otherwise is just lying to themselves. If your kid sees a topic or reads something that is too mature for him, don't blame the site, blame the parent. it's up to the viewer to make the decison and no stress, I repeat, none, should ever be placed on the website owner to make their site fit eveyrthing the viewer wants.

And I am alluding to the silly controversy over the bleeding hand on Beach.

While I generally agree with this train of thought, it doesn't apply to the extremes. For example, if someone posted porn here, and some little kid saw it and was traumatized by it, I wouldn't blame the parent at all, nor would I blame the site (unless the porn stayed there for quite some time, upon which part of the blame would fall on the site for not catching it in a timely fashion).

Yes, and those would be posted with the INTENT to do bad, which would in that case be their fault, but arguments getting out of hand and the like doesn't fall into that.

I've never seen a discussion forum that didn't have some form of a "Random Topic Center". Honestly, I don't think it's the topics, it's the people. I have seen people post unnecessarily rude and uncalled for posts in debate threads here, while the rest of the posters seems to get along fine, more or less. You're bound to come across more jerks online than you are in real life, that's just the way it is. And they aren't just in the debate threads, they're everywhere. The good thing is that we at least have a mod staff to handle it.
