Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

What's your opinion on the TFG?

The game looks interesting to play occasionally, but I will mainly get it for the figures to use with other miniature games such as Star Wars Miniatures.

I'd imagine that unless they're able to read your mind, and know exactly how you're going to move your figures, you could quite easily surprise them.

It's not like there's all that much secrecy with the TCG after all. Considering that most people thesedays use very small variations on small sub-sets of "archetype" decks.

The board isn't big enough, i think a player can easily see your next move.

I see the demo on the web... it doesn't interest me...

I think it will be too expensive for other countrys (Example: South America) where TCG is the rule...

Cheers!

Wrong.
Except in very few situations (The equivalents of "Check" in Chess), there are several good moves a player can make at any time.
That's what makes the strategy of this game so complex.

the 'demo on the web' is only the basic game, like we demo'd in the booths at sdcc and origins; the FULL game is on a green mat, using _six_ figures instead of three among other differences.

Bringing up that playmat though, I do hope that they will release some of the other mat ideas I believe were submitted to them. I understand the need for a standard mat for tournaments that would guarantee a reasonably quick game (though as it is, I've had 6-on-6 games going for several hours before), but I believe it would add quite a bit more re-playability to the game. It's something that can fairly easily be introduced with each new set to boot.

I wonder if it would be possible to make a web version of the new game. It'd be possible to play games like old PBEM/PBIM Chess games, I suppose, but that can be tedious and time consuming, and would introduce a lot of opportunity for people to dishonestly claim spins

i couldnt find the 6-figs play mat, is the "steps" of the mat as same as the 3-3 mat?

someone should invent some sort of TFG online program just like apprentice. that'd be good for ppls who couldnt afford it.

The 6 figure playmat is on the back of the 3 figure one.
It's mostly the same, but there are extra diagonal lines leading to the center thing.

To give you a better idea, the six figure mat is more like two rectangles, one inside the other, connected at points near the corners. The three figure mat on the other hand is a single line in the middle of a rectangle, that's about the size of the center rectangle of the 6 figure mat.

The fact that the 1 figure boosters show exactly what your getting and that the other boosters also at least show you one of the figures your getting seems really wierd consideridering you never know what you are going to get in a card game pack. At the least they'll get some sales from people who just want to get a few of the cooler looking figures (I know I'll at least try to find a Scyther and the Groudon).

The problem there is that some figures (the most playable, and best looking) will almost always be sold out, while others will be left on shelves if not for collectors wanting to grab them just to have them.

There are always favourites, its true of every collectible figure. Yet they still sell. At $9 each figure the game would have to be awesome, at $4 each figure they ought to sell just as beautifully modeled figures.

I don't know if I'd get into the game, but they sure would be fun to collect. Is there really any challenges when playin the game?
