Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

What's your opinion on the TFG?

There's plenty of challenge and strategy, when you've got two people playing the game who are taking their time to think about things, rather than just two kids messing around. The strategy behind it is a totally different ballgame to what you've got in the TCG.

So do you think this is more of a kids game? Or can big kids play it, too?

"Big kids" play the TCG too. Although both the TCG and TFG may be viewed as childrens games, mainly because they are based on Pokemon, they can be played by anyone that has an interest. As far as the TFG goes, I think it will still be more geared to children with simple game mechanics and the ability to learn to play and play the game with ease, but adults or older children will have the ability to make more complex teams and put more thought into their moves. Whenever OP for this starts, that is IF OP for this starts, it seems that chess clocks would be a very appropriate time keeping device.

It might be cool to just buy some to get your favorite Pokemon/Trainers. Not sure if the game will sell well. Due to all the delays/random fig factor. I might buy some. But with no regular Pokemon league in my area, not sure if I would ever play it.

Honestly, I'd say that this game would actually be more of a big kids game on the competitive level. While your team building is obviously a large part of your game, I'd say the majority of a game is going to depend on your tactics and strategic movement. It's certainly a game that little kids can muck around with, but the older fans are going to get more from it. Though I suppose that last statement is one that goes for the TCG equally well.

In any case, everything I've just said goes double, if we start to see more rules introduced, like evolutions, weakness/resistance, or new arenas. There is a *lot* of room for depth of strategy in this game, and it's only going to get deeper as more sets come out.
