Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Woot! It got announced!!! (Nintendo DSi)

Kotaku.com (there's links on the site that aren't pg, so I'm not linking you guys), announced a new piece of hardware today. You'd have to go there yourself if you want to find out what it is =D

Both branches of Nintendo responded to this with a "We didn't tell them anything about new hardware."

This is a speculative rumor with no sources. All of the articles that talk about this point back to Nikkei, and Nikkei has no sources. Without a source of information this is nothing more than an unsubstantiated rumor, and until Nintendo releases some information there is no reason for anyone to believe this.

You sir, are a party pooper.

Personally I find little to believe about this rumor.

The DS is almost 4 years old, and started out way behind the PSP in technical capability, which has been one of the few areas where the DS can be criticized. I would think that anything Nintendo would put out at this point would not be a third iteration of the DS, but an entirely new handheld platform.

Sony is no doubt thinking the same thing with regards to the PSP, and I'm sure both companies know what the other is thinking. I expect to see brand new offerings from both of them within the next couple of years.

Well, considering the GBA lasted what, about 3 years till the DS came out, another 1-2 until it completely died off, I can see Nintendo getting ready either for a major upgrade to the DS (ala GB to GBC, or even GBC to GBA). I mean, major home consoles last what, 5 years or so now (more if you're still hauling along the PS2 like Sony is), so the timing should be about right to see a new handheld from Nintendo I'd think.

The DS and DSL are still selling like GANGBUSTERS, though. I seriously doubt that Nintendo is going to stop their license to print money at this point. To me, it looks like the DSL has at least another 2 or 3 years of good sales left in it, then another 2 or 3 years of declining sales. I think right now it's hitting the peak of its lifetime. Just like what Nintendo did with the SP and the Micro, I'd expect them to drop another DS upgrade (DSL Premium or something like that), then come out with their NEW system in another 2 years or so.

A pedometer...

Maybe you just get a bunch of those and put them on your hands/elbows/legs/knees and such so that the Wii knows your entire body position.

That's called true motion detection, and it'd be freakin AMAZING if it actually happened.

Very nice unit. With the inside camera, it makes you wonder if Webcam games will be introduced.

*clears throat*

TOLD YA SO!!! RUMORS FTW!

Back on topic, yay for new DS! Finally have a reason to ditch DS Phat now!

- Sengoku Musou 3 (Samurai Warriors) for Wii
- new ‘mothership’ Tales series title has beenn announced.
- Monster Hunter 3 footage

This brings up a few things...

1. With the absence of a GBA slot, which is very important in some games (i.e. Pokemon), how will they make up for this? Implement a Virtual Console-like system for the DSi?
2. Adding onto point 1, this can also be a great opportunity to offer free DS demos if they do implement such a system.
3. Improvements on the DS browser compared to the Wii's browser?
4. Phantasy Star Zero looks awesome

I would think the post above yours really confirms it. Since it came from gonintendo.com.
