World Record Attempt Hawaii 2010: More Invites Sent!

Depends if the record lets me sleep.

Depends if people think I look bad / I'm hungry.

Generally speaking for Guiness Records of this type, the play needs to be continuous and by this they give you 5 minutes every hour for washroom breaks, sleep, food, etc. It certainly will be a Marathon to go more than 3 days. Once in my younger years, I stayed up for slightly less than 100 hours straight. It absolutely messes with your mind.

As someone who's pulled a few multiple-nighters, I feel that the number of hours you're awake without sleep will increase parallel to how many games you lose/misplays you make, ha.

Great idea, can't wait to hear more.

Are you looking for like 100 hours straight? Because 100 hours played isn't that long. If I'm really testing for an event I go 4-5 hours at a time.

Wow, 4-5 hours is only 4% to 5% of the way towards beating the record so you should know how easy it is...

If its not that hard, why havn't you done it yet mr. world champion? :thumb:I mean, you are the world champion aren't you?:nonono:lol

Anyways....Ill do what ever I need to in order to get the record. If it requires 100 hours of straight playing with no break...Ill do my best at that while playing as many games at a time in as many languages as I can.

What I'm saying is, that it would have to be continuous. Because if you are trying to establish a record playing over multiple days than you'd have to go alot longer than 100 hours.

So, you are going to one of the most beautiful places on earth...and going to play Pokemon for 4 of the days you are there.

Seems like a better idea would be to play somewhere in beautiful Canada, and then be able to use it as a fundraiser for Worlds, but it is your record. That way you could fully enjoy Hawaii. Maybe around the Canadian Nationals????

Good luck man.

Vince

Then it is settled. Apperently my recrod would be too easy to do as it is right now so lets make it harder!

Squirtle (for a lack of a better name): I will play longer, harder and to the best of my abilities until you consider me the new world champion.

Other guy (my memory is bad for names): I will play with penny sleaves since I have enough of them.

Vince / meganium / 45: I have already been to hawaii once, and while I was there I made the most of it by only sleeping 4 hours the entire weekend. I didn't win grinders, but I had the most fun I ever had.

I will start my record attempt around the time of CDN national championships...I will either break the record then, practice for my real record attempt. Or play pokemon for 3 months straight. Which ever I find easiest at the time.

What I'm trying to say, and you can ask anyone, is that when people are testing for events they often play for hours at a time, day after day.

The only way you can set a legitimate record is to do it by playing game after game for a set amount of time.

The good news is, that 100 hours is most likely much more than you would actually need for a record. I'd be willing to bet that 10+ hours of straight playing would most likely do it for you.

Oh Mike .... thats pro if anyone can do the same thing for over 100 hours im sure its you and I hope I can be there to cheer you on and play in a few of the games.

(when I test for events I play when ever I feel like playing, thats why to break the record I hope I feel like playing that(ose) day(s))

(Ill do one better, by playing more the one game at a time for a set amount of time.)

I agree with everything you said except for the last part, I am willing to bet your title as "Current Pokemon World Champion" on it.

I can prove to you that the record requires at least 70+ hours to break it. If you don't believe me you can ask guiness (if you want to talk to beer) or you can read my first post.

Deal?

*insert evil laughter here-ish*

I reckon he'll forget how to spell "unknown" after 100 hours, and that he will never use the main Pokemon(s) in whatever deck he is going to use ever again. I also bet that the whole evil laughter thing will become truth when he's gone mad.

Good luck son, you'll need it. As well as a big buffet beforehand.

EDIT: Mmmh, just a joke, but if it's taken that way I've changed it PA. No rhyme intended.

Have you been playing Pokemon for the last 100 hours, because its spelt Unown

Wow Mike thats an awesome idea imo. If I can make it to worlds this year I'll definitely help you with this. I'll also throw in 3 kisses from Maurice for every hour you play!

Napoleon .... I don't have the 2010 tournament rules available to me at this moment, but according to the 2008/09 tournament rules PDF, you may want to retract your post, or at least edit it. Here's the portion you might find interesting:

3. Wagering
Wagering or gambling on the results of a game, portion of a game, match, or number of matches by
anyone, including players, event staff, and spectators, is strictly prohibited. Anyone attempting to wager
on a POP event should be removed from the tournament site, and the incident should be reported to
POP.

Just a heads up.

ok, so heres the thing I cant see how you are going to do this can you stop for a while your going to need to eat and go to the bathroom ect... in that 3-4 day time period.

as long as we are talking about world records (im not trying to post off topic).i attempted to beat the highest score in frogger and turned out 10or less pts. short it really sucked.
