    Grass Pokemon Decks

Leafeon/Roserade is a really fun deck to play but I've found it's too easy for Reshiram and Zekrom decks to retreat out, since they have reliable energy acceleration methods. One biggie you left out is Jumpluff - I've been testing it out (with Vileplume) with some degree of success on TCGO and...

    Virginia's Autumn Battle Roads

    I won't be at the last two BRs, so here's a (mostly) comprehensive report of what's been showing up at Virginia's BRs so far! (Masters only): Warrenton 9/17 (45 masters) 1st: Luke R - Reshiram/BadBoar/AbilityBoar 2nd: Kyle S - MegaZone/Jirachi 3rd: Johnny R - Ross deck 4th: Dillon C -...

    Virginia's Autumn Battle Roads

Warrenton was an interesting BR seeing as no deck went undefeated in swiss and there was an awesome mix of six decks (IMO) that went 5-1 prior to top cut: Reshiboar/RDL (took 1st), Megazone (2nd), Ross' deck (3rd), 2 Gothitelle (4th and 6th), and Beartic (5th).

New Hail Blizzard Psycho Drive scans

Looks like if the opposing Pokemon is not holding a Pokemon Tool, the attack fails. Name of the attack is Dark Penalty, so that makes sense.

New Hail Blizzard Psycho Drive scans

There's some Kanji I'm not familiar with, but I'm positive the text on Cilan involves three energy. I think (but might be wrong about this part) it says to go get three energies from your deck, put them into your hand, and shuffle your deck afterward. I'll add it to the other crudely translated...

New Hail Blizzard Psycho Drive scans

From what I can read (and my Japanese is somewhat limited so take this with a grain of salt): Amoonguss' ability poisons and confuses the opponent, but I'm not sure how. Its attack does 20 + 30 for a successful coin flip Zen Darmanitan appears to do 50x the number of coinflips for each energy...

    Earthquake!

I live about 20 miles from the epicenter, and was sitting in my car outside work when it happened. I'm totally oblivious so I just thought something was wrong with my car because it was shaking uncontrollably but then everyone came pouring out of the building. There wasn't really any damage...

    All EP Scans!

Hmm only two Pokemon in the entire set have abilities, one of which will never see use. And none of the other Pokemon are exactly stellar. The saving grace are (obviously) some of the trainers. At first glance I'd rank it below Unleashed but above Undaunted.

BLW2 Emerging Powers Pre-Releases in NC, SC, Western VA

I may be able to go to the Roanoke event, depending on when VA's other prereleases are.

    Pokemon VGC: Top Pokemon

I'm not sure what to do about the international metagame just yet since there's only been two events and the data is for top 8 instead of top 16. I may analyze them separately from NA once some more events have passed, unless someone else does it first.

    Pokemon VGC: Top Pokemon

For anyone interested, here's an updated usage graph and rank chart of the North American Masters. The former is a simple bar graph showing which Pokemon have been used while the latter is a statistical analysis of the most common Pokemon, taking frequency and consistency into account.

    Pokemon VGC: Top Pokemon

Thanks! I don't really know much about the juniors and seniors - I only analyzed Masters because that's all I've had time to do so far. :P But I can most certainly look into seniors and juniors during my free time over the next few days. Just looking at the stats we can all see the juniors love...

    Pokemon VGC: Top Pokemon

Data analysis has been rather slow at work today so using the frequency stats provided by Mike Liesik, here's a summary of Pokemon usage in the Master's division for the first three cities: Rank Chart This table incorporates total usage over the past three weeks as well as fluctuations on...

Looking for a little help with the VGC...

The best way to get a feel for the competitive environment is through the Pokemon Online simulator. It's a great way to test teams you or your son are curious about trying without the hassle of EV training/IV breeding beforehand. Then once he's satisfied with his team (or at least a couple of...

    2011 VGC info updated!

It's nice to see the east and west coasts represented, but everyone in the middle of the US pretty much got shafted with regional locations. I'm surprised there are so few this year. On a positive note, I really like the Gen 5/no ubers policy. It'll be nice to see more diverse teams and now...

Help with my possible VGC team!

Tailwind is a much better option on Tornadus instead of Rain Dance. Galvantula also wants Compoundeyes to raise Thunder's accuracy to 91%. Berries aren't nearly common enough in VGC to the point where Unnerve will be of much use. Mienshao should not have two protecting moves. It is a glass...

    Sheer Force Ability

Basically the secondary effects that are nullified are those that would typically work in your favor. A Sheer Force Conkeldurr that uses Hammer Arm will still have its speed lowered, but this can be used to your advantage in a Trick Room team.
