The artwork on most of them I've seen thus far is excellent. I would buy it gladly just for that. But, then there are several cards in the set which are really good. Mime Jr, Lost World (obv), Seviper, etc. that are well worth buying packs/boxes for competitive players.

I just don't get it. Did they only pick cards that had extra japanese artwork readily at hand, or did they choose which cards were to be reprinted first?
Power Keepers had:
Strong Reprints, from before the rotation
Original EX and trainer cards
Rare Japanese cards not legal and not obtainable any other way
We get:
Overal weak reprints, from sets that aren't even one year old yet
No original cards
No special reprints (except that phanpy I think. And they screwed up its name on the Pokebody so that doesn't count either)
The problem with this whole thing is that the past 4 HGSS sets have put all their strength into the Pokemon Prime, leaving some fairly weaker rares (just look at triumphant. Great set, terrible rares). Because we get 0 primes (none original or reprinted) the set is already at a disadvantage. I feel like even IF they added all the best rares and trainers from all the HGSS sets together, it still wouldn't be THAT good of a set (smeargle, vileplume, and DCE are all that come to mind).
All I can think of is that they had a bunch of japanese stock set art lying around for hgss sets and decided to make a set out of that.

And tell me its not true that the "Shiny" Pokemon are also available as just regular Holos but non-shiny
should I still go to the prerelease? I think I could buy this whole set as singles for $25 on troll and toad =/

If this is true, that means Pokemon Collector is not in the set, because Professor Elm's Training Method is #82. No DCE either since Sage's Training is #85 and Special Dark is #86 (most likely). We don't even get the snazzy Rare Candy artwork since there's no gap between PONT and Research Documents. :/ So cards that will be available as league promos in a few weeks deserve spaces in the set over cards like those?
At least I can look forward to holographic HGSS energy and maybe a fun limited format.
I was hoping for it too, but I don't see where it will fit...

77 - (Unknown, my guess is Copycat)
78 - Dual Ball
79 - (Unknown, several choices, maybe Judge or Energy Exchanger?)
80 - Lost Remover (I guess)
81 - Lost World
82 - Professor Elm
83 - Professor Oak
84 - Research Record
85 - Sage's Training
86 - Dark Special (I guess)
87 - Metal Special
88 - 95 are probably Grass, Fire, Water, Lightning, Psychic, Fighting, Dark, Metal
Since T/S/S are 76 to 85 and alphabetically, there is no room for Pokemon Collector, what a shame.

The illustration on the deck box is eh. But the fact that it's a Pokemon made deck box just makes me be a sucker and have to go to at least 1 PR.
If PokePop was talking about PONT or Judge, I will be extremely let down.
This set is just a huge fail. The only cards I want from it are Lost Link cards:
Mr. Mime, Mime Jr., Lost Remover, Lost World.
P!P should know we don't want anything but Primes, Legends, T/S/S or LV X cards. Those sell.
I'm sure most of their business is from players and not collectors.
I just wanted to go to a Pre-Release and not feel like i'm wasting money.
