Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Kyurem...

Most hype is a bit silly and usually doesn't work out.

But kids getting excited about shiny new cards is what keeps the game alive. Nothing wrong with it.

I still say Gengar, because it seemed like EVERYONE but me and a couple others were sold on it being broken. lol.

Gengar Prime has been used in tournament winning decks, and it may be in the future.

AFAIK, no-one ever paid $100+ for a Gengar Prime.

Darkrai hype wins.

I repeat: Gengar Prime has appeared in decks that won major tournaments.

Darkrai did not.

OK fair enough.

Back on Kyurem topic, I think you may have NRG problems and issues getting up speed. Plus, against Zekrom or some Reshiram you get OHKO too much and spred not too much as normal.

I know a lot of people talk about Pluspower, but in testing it's really unreliable and a honestly a waste of deck space. Plus, you're not suppose to be KOing their whole field with spread, the idea is to soften stuff up for Gatr, who can survive a plus-power Bolt Strike, to one-shot everything.

IDK, I've been playing it to great effect, but there could be anything coming out of this set.

Dont forget about Zoroark.. it can use the damage spread and outrage.. me personally, i think Zoroark is the counter to the big 3 in the BW sets.. Just with a Sp.Dark it can 1 hit Zekrom and Reshirom + do a 40 spread with Kyurem attack. And is it me or do the BW pokemon seem like they were just old ideas that didnt make the cut LOL and now that they need something new they are throwing them in a set togather i mean some of their names, really?? LOL

If anything, it will balance the game (zekrom/reshi are a bit too strong) and allow other decks like steelix to creep back into the meta to act as a hard counter to it. I really like where this game is going. :)

The problem with this is, kids get to hyped up about cards that in all reality, are bad. Perfect example, Arceus Lv.X's, everyone thought they were so good and started putting decks togather with them, when in the end it was a waste of their time. The problem with this card is it has to many counters. People can just Seeker up their baby pokemon and even if it has metal weekness it can still get OHKO by Reshiram and Zekrom. This card is not that great. Im tired, and im sure others are to, of people over hyping these new cards that are good in some way but are probobly not going to be good in the metagame. I am NOT saying this card is bad, I am simply saying, dont over hype a card until it comes out and there is ACTUALLY a deck with it that can survive the metagame and win against the T1 decks.

This may sound weird (to you), but I actually like hype built around cards - even if they never live up to how good we theorize them to be. I think it's a lot of fun when the community gets together and starts thinking up of ways to make this card beast and in my mind I'm always half thinking of what a deck with the hyped card would look like. Most of time, after building a proxy deck and playing around it it doesn't live up to the hype, but that's ok, I still had fun thinking up the ideas. I think it's a fun exercise for everyone involved and really gets people thinking out of the box.

Just my 2 cents :)

I think its ok to hype cards it just gets annoying sometimes but yea i like everyone that plays pokemon...we are like a big family :)

The thing is that Zoroark is a stage one, and it doesn't have a way to get enough energy in one turn like the other 3, unless you give up a Special Dark for a Double Colorless. But still, the other 3 are basics and will outspeed him, and his HP doesn't let him survive Zekrom or Reshiram's hits, and spreading on Kyurem will just power up his outrage.

While it really doesn't help against Reshiram, Zoroark is a decent counter to Zekrom, because it's harder for Black Out to set up another dragon. Donphan is a much better choice for a Zekrom counter, but Zoroark has a lot of other uses too.

I'm realling looking forward to trying out Kyurem with Feraligatr Prime and CDL (Cresselia+Darkrai LEGEND). Two spreads of 30 = ~240-360 damage (depending on how many pokes they have in play, 4-6 in play for the given example) for CDL to move around in any way it likes. Bye-bye, Reshiboar engine?

CDL is great for it but think of the line up for it
3-2-3 f'gatr
3-Kyurem
2-2 lunasol or 1-1
1-0-1 Vileplume (catcher counter)
1-1 CDL

too many pokemon and too much strategy, plus think if you would play CDL why not just play 2 Smeargle since you will have Vileplume for Trainer lock.
Maybe a 1-1 lunasol and 2-2 CDL might work, but think you would need 3 collector, 4 communication 3 or 4 rare candy 4 PONT and high JArm count.

What does Recycler do again?

^Vileplume is never going to be a Catcher counter because they'll simply Catcher the Oddish before you can Candy it. Maybe go 2-2 on Lunarock for the same reason.

On a side note: Lunarock>Lunasol

Yeah, but what is gonna stop them from catchering your Luna****(whatever you wanna call it) and easy prize it? I would rather take the chance of them catchering oddish than catchering luna****.

lol. It's a pet peeve against the term Luna"sol". Idek.

That works too. I just think, cause you'd probably already play revive or something to get back the 3 Kyurems I figured in theory Lunarock would be easier to get back. Plus if one is prized in any game 2-2 would be certainly better. Anyway it's all theorymon. No one knows even if Lunarock is a "must play" in the metagame.
