Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Mid Atlantic Regionals 4/14, Claymont, DE

Yeh, this is sad imo. I think that the PTO's should of done a better job of planning these events so that NY and DE which IMO are the 2 closest regionals didnt fail on the same day. I am sure that the PTO's might of been stuck with a certian date due to the venue but eh. I also want to say that maybe it is a bigger conspircy and PUI/POP is just trying to mess with our minds, but of course they never do it on purpose, RIGHT??
Drew

Ya know- just once I would like to see some of you people do a better job than we do. There are soooo many factors that go into where and when these things happen. You guys are really CLUELESS....And so what if we talk to others in the area to see what their dates are? If we didn't do you realize what a real mess you could have on your hands?????

Should we rename this thread the east coast whiner's thread so that you can be up there with Mr. Whicker????

Take that discussion outside (of this thread). I'm tired of seeing the "It's not fair that your events are closer."

Give me a break, at least you don't have to spend 3 days driving to 2 Regionals.

^Agrees, I am very happy I dont have to do that.

Everyone Else - I think you misunderstood what I was trying to say. I understand that it takes hours and hours of time and planning and finding a venue that is situable and cost effective for the event. I just thought that since a lot of times the NY/NJ players show some support to Dorian and her events it wouldnt of been nice. I am not upset about it. Just frustrated. However. I can always go to MA. I really am not too worried about it. It really isnt as big of a deal as you make it.

If we must do this here...

Have you actually talked to your PTO? The question shouldn't be "Why didn't Dorian put her event on the 21st?" An obvious answer is that totoro is a judge at Dorian's event and totoro will be in NC on the 21st, among other reasons which I don't know. The question should be "why didn't Tom put his event on the 21st?"
I suppose you could go out and involve Jeff, ask him why he didn't put his event on the 14th instead, thus allowing Dorian to put her event on the 21st if that was an available date for Dorian (maybe the 21st was blocked out at the location). But North Carolina having to be influenced by a New York event is a bit extreme.

And obviously every PTO would like to have the travelling players boost their numbers.
It's not a matter of not wanting to avoid a conflict. It just doesn't work out sometimes.

I can tell you exactly why...by the time we were notified that we were doing it this year- venues were already booked for wedding and stuff like that...

There, see, perfectly good explaination that shows that, no matter how much the PTOs wanted to have travelling players, the timeframe is simply unforgiving. You don't notice how many weddings are going on around you until you actually try to book events yourself.

I dont think that is true. I personally think I know why. Okay here is the things you need to know. My PTO is not running this. Mass PTO is running NY and MA regionals. Now if I was the PTO I would do the exact same scheduling they did. By puttint the NY date on the same day of DE it is gonna increase there MA numbers a bit. However, I also think it will make a few players upset that they did this.

Drew: You seem to think that travel is a one way thing: New York area players going south to NJ/PA/DE or north to New England.
But what about NJ/PA/DE players heading up north to the New York Regional?
Those players won't be going up there, they'll be going to the DE Regional.

So why on earth would any PTO want to limit their attendance at any event on purpose?
It would be cutting off his nose to spite his face for the MA PTO to purposefully cause a conflict with the Mid Atlantic Regionals. It just cuts his own attendance down, too.

Nope, I just don't see it.

Pokepop is right on the money... :thumb:

Drew evidently it is easier to complain rather than try to understand...:nonono: There are a LOT of factors that go into setting dates (location availability, other PTO's running Regionals close by, etc, etc, etc). Have you asked Dorian why she chose the date ??? Rather than complain and make assumptions why not ask her. There were two weekends to choose from and guaranteed someone isn't going to be happy no matter what you do (your posts are a perfect example). You have been to Mass before for Regionals so at least that is an additional option for you (versus I am sure some players will only have one option).

Also you are wrong about locations not already being booked. I know from personal experience I found one location that already was booked. It is wedding season along with other things going on at the same time as Regionals.

...just to reiterate what 'gatr has said. The original, supersecret date for the SE regionals was to be the previous Saturday. I had already begun to make my plans to head down South to help Jeff out, when we got word that the venue wasn't available due to a wedding.

We couldn't do VA states on my original date, either. In fact, even our back-up date didn't work out for the venue we had hoped for....

Sure, in a perfect world everybody gets to do 2 regionals. But there are bound to be conflicts. Would you rather only have regionals on 1 day, nationwide????

Thought not.

Mr. T.

I guess you don't realize how many weddings occur in an area until you try planning an event in a place other than a game store.
