wow, this is really beginning to look like the E-On metagame - mostly 2 decks making up 80%, a third rogue-ish deck making up anohter 15%, and the last 5% being those who want to try to be different.

props:
*event staff
*good food: pizza - breakfast of champions
*nice play area.
*very smooth event, despite a late start time.
*lots of my leaguers making it

slops:
*stalling
*just 1 aardvark (I hope they didn't think this one was next week  )

sleepy.

Well...

POP picked the worst two possible weekends to hold regionals. I'm tied up BOTH Saturdays with other things, and although me and a few others tried to rally our guys to go to this, we just got kind of ignored. I think that a few of us are headed down to Greensboro next week, but Giant Fourteen year old can't get a seat with the only car of ours going in that direction due to the need for luggage space or something, which annoys me.

Man... the metagame was very diverse... dont be fooled by the top 8
for some reason during the swiss, there were only a few mirror...what's even funnier is that durring swiss i was talkig with someone about how polistall would be a good play ths metagame... and then it does so well in florida... im kinda glad they had NY and DE at the same time... because both events were huge so imagine if they had been different weekends....each event woulda been too big... if this is any indication, this years nationals will be the biggest ever.

I though I would put the seinors here since no one else has done it.

Top 4 ( I really don't know any farther than this)
1 Geoffrey S. RK9/Eveelutions
2 Curran H. Raieggs
3 Melody A. Metanite
4 Philip M. Gardevoir ex/flygon (my little brother)

If anyone knows the top eight PM me and I can edit.

you know who was the coolest... the PTO... how cool is FREE PIZZA for everyone at the tourney!!!!! that's about as cool as it gets. I mean i like everybody... but im not about to buy you 1,000,000 dollars worth of pizza...thats where i draw the line..lol

I've gone to about 6-8 of these events, but never actually played. It's always been my son (in juniors) doing the battles. So I decided to try it out for myself this time. It was, um, interesting to say the least. Definitely a lot harder playing against masters than it is against my 7 year old. I still managed to pull out a 3-3 record, which probably isn't too bad considering the noob factor. I was just glad I made it past that Aggron ex I thought I'd never see.

Now for the event, I thought it went as smoothly as you could possibly expect given the sheer number of people there. Talking with a couple folks behind the counter gave me the impression they thought it was going pretty crazy. But from a player's perspective, I thought it was pretty smooth.

Some random thoughts from a newbie: There's like no time between rounds to even hit the head! Yikes. And forget about running out to grab some food if you're actually playing. I used to run out and grab a bite to bring back for lunch when my son was the only one playing. There's absolutely NO way to do that if you're also sitting down round after round. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the players were all very willing to slow down the pace for the old man.

Will I play again? Eh, maybe. It wasn't quite as fun as I thought. It was certainly challenging and definitely made the day go by faster. But it also meant I wasn't paying attention to my son's battles and following along with what he was doing. The event, however, was as good as anyone could have expected. Thanks again!

EDIT: Oh, I almost forgot.. Huge thanks to Shaw for loaning me a few Briney's. Nicest guy you'll ever want to meet. And to whomever I loaned my Groudon ex...please return it. I had to leave while you were still in the games. I would like to get it back, however.

Your first tournament ever, and you win half your matches!? Amazing! Keep it up!You got some potential!
Wish I could say the same thing about my first Premiere Events:redface:

And I thought doing free pizza at PreReleases was good...
