BTW, Charking, if you are getting that feeling that you're being ganged up on, could it be the second you walked in here you started bashing competitive players for the sake of them being competitive?

This is a good thread. I want to add a different comment that no one has picked up on. We definately play because it is fun but we are also very competitive. My son and I have been to every single World Championships there has been since the ole days of Wizards. For this current season we have stopped playing in Pre-releases. Why? Well because Pre-releases dont count towards rankings? I have always believed that for Pokemon to be truly competitive Sealed or Drafts should be part of the World Championships. The other games we play Magic and VS. have sealed as a major part of their Championshp structure. Sealed is the most definitive way of determining who is the best player. This can be argued ad naseum but until Sealed play finds its way into competitive Pokemon you wont be seeing us at any Pre-releases.

I agree that some form of Limited should be incorporated into big tournaments, but I'd rather see Draft over Sealed. Sealed is too much of a crapshoot, while draft takes a lot of strategy.

Then your no better than they are. You complain about them and then you do it back and expect things to go your way. Your done guy! Get out of this post. Your done! This thread is about fun and competetive your starting a flame war. Your done! I'f you feel mistreated or being gang uped on or something pm a MOD or pm via member. Not wise. Too many people misunderstand my threads, and even my posts, such as the earlier ones in this thread. I'm not too great at wording my opinions and thoughts.

I went back and looked at some of your posts earlier in this thread

To expand further on my last post, this fandom has become so obsessed with being competitive that nothing else matters. Plus, it's so bad that everyone here looks down on people that don't play competitively... and there's really no logical excuse for that.

Again I have never seen that. Please provide a link or something. I have never seen that issue before and to be honest it seems like you are grouping all competitive players into one group. you are right there is no exuse for people to demean you for having a different attitude on the game, however in this thread all you have done is tell us why you dislike competitive players. You have not shown us any example of things said to you. You say everyone who competitivly plays does that well have I done it, has venasaur or Pablo done it? I have yet to see any indication that more then a few people have or are doing this. If they are doingthis on the board then tell PokePop or some other mod. If this is happening to you outside of the gym like at league or so then either talk to the TO/PTO/LL of that area. There are plenty of ways to help this and you could even ask for advuce on the gym. I cannot garentee that these methods would work but to simply walk off then come back and link all players into that group. You are doing the one thing you said drove you away. If people flame you for not being competitive then why flame them about them being competitive?

FACT: The pokemon TCG is only a game. Not a sport, but a game. Games are meant to be fun over all else. It's not gonna be the end of the world if you lose, and you'll still most likely have fun. UNLESS you just play for the prizes, then the actual chore lies in going through a game you don't actually enjoy to get the thing that you do truly enjoy: The prize. And that IMO, is the wrong reason to play any game.

Yes it is in the most sense only a game but it is a fun game that people want to win. You say that pokemon is not a sport it is a game therfore is made to be fun, well what about poker it is just a game but there are seious players out there. And what about Football, baseball, basketball, and stuff. Are you saying that since they are sports they are supposed to be all seious and no fun? A game and sport are essentialy the same thing.

The thing about people playing a game they don't enjoy for prizes alone, well I have never seen someone use up time effort and money to play a game they despise just to win a prize. Yes you are right in that the it is not the end of the world if you lose. The people who feel that way are bad sports as mentioned in my earlier post. Those people appear everywhere and the best thing to do is don't let it get to you. The prize being the only reason to play as I just said if you don't enjoy the game don't play. If someone plays mainly for the prize then okay you can't force change on people. There is a way to be competitive and play for the prize without being a jerk.

Is the game THAT boring... to ignore anything about the game except the object of it? Don't any of you enjoy even the strategical nature of the game, or think that's too much of an obstacle to win as well? At least have the decency to recognize why other people play and not see them as worthless second-rate players if they're not as cutthroat as you are.

Whoever says that it "isn't just a game" should really get a life... IMO.

First thing is the whole whoever says that it's just a game should not be playing is just a fun joke and pokemon player saying. Mainly because non players often say what's the big deal it's just a game. What you said about enjoying the strategic part of the game, well that's the main reason the saying came into play people who say it's just a game have never played it and seen how stategic it can get.
People who aren't as "cutthroat" as others are not looked down on infact "second rate players" can easialy get hwlp if they want to try and compete in major tournaments. As said before there are mean people in the world that we have to deal with. There are 2 or 3 people at my league that don't competitively play but we still talk and hang out with them and help then build decks. Very few people if any are so competitve that they feel uncompetitive people are worthless.

WRONG. There's nothing wrong with casual playing, especially with those of us who don't need a scholorship.

Casual players aren't in any of these wolves' way for their big slab of scholorship steak. Just shut up and accept that there's another type of player than you.

no ever said that casual play was wrong, The majority of pokemon players are in high school or college. No offense to 11-14 and 10- but 15+ is the biggest age group. These people which include myself have a practical need and can easily use the money. They can play a game they love and maybe get to earn some extra college money in the prosses.

Poker don't have cute li'l monsters on the cards, and don't actually make an attempt to simulate combat between said cute creatures. That's the difference... it gives more reasons to like the game for more than a competitive hobby.

why does the picture on the cards make any differenc in how you play the game. Have you seen the dark cynical creatures od yu-gi-oh or magic are you saying that it makes a difference? And because of the creatures are pretenting to battle instead of hearts, spades, dimonds, and clubs being played the game should be a hobby. To most of, it is a hobby. I shoot skeet ( a type od shotgun sport) it is a hobby to me and my dad but we still compete in competititions.

And the system isn't the problem. It's the greedy players that merely see the cards as tools to use in their ultimate goal. And as much as they'd like to think so, THEY DON'T NEED TO THINK THAT WAY.

that is wrong people should not degrade or tease you fot not playing for prizes. As I said before there are several methodes to deal with these bullies online or not, but don't grop all players into that group

That's a lie, I never intentionally try to put anyone down that don't put me down first. I'm just very vengeful and I'm not gonna stop till the discrimination stops. I want everyone to get along and play the game their own way.

I don't play competitively. But that's THE REASON competitive people ruin it for me. They don't respect me BECAUSE I don't play competitive.

Again with this issue deal with it responsibly. For online, tell pokepop or some other mod. For outside the gym talk to adults/LL/PTO/TOs for advice or help to deal with it. If thsi is happening at legue tall your LL and he/she can do something about it.

So if someone harasses me, I should leave? No, it don't work like that. Pokepop said many times that this board is for all players, competitive or not. I should be treated equal. And I have many competitive friends... I'm not gonna totally avoid what they like.

If someone harrasses you tell someone don't lose your temper. This board is for all players. Look at ting112 and some other members who have told everyone that they do not play competitivly or even at all and no one ever demaens them. No don't avoid your friend unless they harass you too then they really aren't freinds.
No one told you to leave. Several people told you that if you leave then no one would harrass you, but no one acually ordered you to leave.anymore,

I've seen people too many times say "If you can't take the game seriously then quit" or "People who think this is only a game shouldn't be playing at all". I'd say that has plenty to do with overly-competitive(or just simply rude) people.

It simply says that some players are passionte for the game and some members even have it in there sig. I highly doubt it is there just because of you.

And you never seen it probably because I haven't posted much since a few months ago, just because of it. And the whole ganging up on me thing to... which you guys seem to be doing now. Cut it out.

Well Absol, I don't want to argue, debate, or fight with you or anyone, so I'll try to make this simple. You're misunderstanding me in lots of areas, that's all.

I think it's best if you just forget everything I said anyway, because I come in a thread(in any board) with one intention and get my posts picked apart as people find things in them that I never even meant. I'm too tired to try explaining myself over and over.

I ain't your average player. I dont post to get off-topic but you seem like the type of player who judges by appearance but doesnt think about the players that can draw 6 prizes. I must say i hope flaming stops. I must say i've seen people post about the 15+ players are the best ones. Well you can't really compare better. I think thats just more knowledge they have. Older, more skills, experience, Knowledge, etc. Imagine the competetive side if all age groups were combined. Its uneeded and unfair.
