my problem yesterday--had a GOD hand, and heres how it goes down:
cards in hand-
skull fossil
skull fossil (in case of a donk, i have a 2nd)
candy
rampardos
BTS
poke-drawer
poke-drawer

so theres no problem getting my fighting ftw....we roll, i go first. he goes second, lookers, shuffles mine, im done.
this is an example of one way around a donk.

This is why I play Sableye. Guaranteed first turn Looker's (unless it's prized...) is a pretty solid way to ruin donk hands.

You went first, that's why your donk didn't happen. If you look at a lot of suggestions here on the 'Gym concerning the donk problem, most of them address the power of going second. What if you had gone first? It's safe to say you might have had your first-turn donk. Plus, your opponent didn't have to play a Looker's to get out of the donk, he could have just as easily played a Roseanne's, Bebe's, etc. to get out a response to your quick Rampardos. The issue here, at least in my eyes, is the power a player has in going second and being able to jump to one of 4 or so Stage 2 Pokemon to nail a donk.

Sableye's not a bad idea, but there are a few problems here. First, Sabeleye itself can become a donk (like someone earlier said, it's a card that shouldn't have gotten its second attack), ending the game rather quickly. Second, you might not start with Sableye - just like a player may not start with his/her Toxicroak G against a Machamp deck. Last, you let your opponent go second, which could easily backfire by giving them what they need to manage the donk. After all, 5 cards off a Looker's isn't really that bad, especially with Uxie being so popular.

Ya know, I don't think donks will be stopped.
Has anyone been on Go-Pokemon Strategy Section?
There is a recent article handing out donk strats from PT including Rampardos and Toxicroak.
I doubt that they will put this on their site and then help eliminate donks.
But hey, I play GeChamp

To all you guys bragging about your donk decks. Back when end of season league tourneys were the equivalent of a cities, I won half my games (and later the whole tournament) on tyrogue donks. Beat that =P

Palkia is to both sides, and you don't get to choose which opponent's Pokes get tossed back (I'll always toss my Uxie and Azelf, BTW)

In all honestly, donks may be bad but it's part of the game. As a deck builder, you should be able to prevent these things from happening. It's bad luck that you only drew one basic but boo hoo, move on. Yes, I did get "donk" numerous times but that's the nature of the game and will always will be.

Donks are awful but they happen. There's no way around it. It's a bad beat and a cheap win, but it's a win... when you're at that level, a win's a win... sad but true. Unfortunately, a loss is a loss in the same instance.

When that "unfortunate loss'" hits you at the final round of Nats/Worlds and a chance at the top cut, I'm pretty sure you won't be all smiles and sighs :nonono:

All they have to do to fix this is make it were people can choose to muligan if they only have one basic in there hand and get stuck going first and just let your opponent draw just like they do when you have no basic. That way if a player chooses to stick with a hand with one basic and ends up getting donked that was there falt and no one elses. But no one should loose on turn 1 in Pokemon when it's suppossed to be a childrens game and more about having fun then anything else.

The other think they could do is just say no one can play trainers on turn 1.

I can't believe it's an kids game because more adults play it now then teens or kids. It's also way to difficult for a lot of kids that are not interested of activating their brain. Parents aren't a helpful factor in this as well, seeing as there indeed are a lot of people thinking it's a way to get temporarily rid of their kid.

Donks are a part of the game that people need to prepare for. Saying that donks need to be stopped means to me that a deck isn't good enough and gets bad draws then blames the deck that beats them when the draw a bad hand.

Oh yes and you have to do anything to win it's all that matters if you don't like it play donk decks blah blah blah

Donking has been a part of this game since rare candy first came out. While I admit, it is quite frustrating, making a fuss about a noob donking you seems very convenient to me. If you're so concerned about being donked you're just going to have to stuff a lot more basic pokemon in your deck. While I'm aware that large amounts of basic pokemon will often compromise your deck's ability to function, smaller amounts should be reserved for players who can cope with the inevitable possibility that they might lose in a fashion they don't agree with.

I find Palkia G LV.X worse then Noir DP. Noir DP let's you get the Pokemon back instead of having to Lost Zone multiple pokes.

As one who has used Palkia G lv.x, I can say that its FAR more balanced than dusknoir.

1. You will NEVER pull it out of no where and surprise the heck out of your opponent. They will probably know its coming well in advance.

2. It effects both sides.

3. Your opponent gets to pick the cards, often an used Uxie or Azelf or even a nearly KO'd pokemon.

4. It's far easier to play around since you get to pick what goes to the lost zone. You really can't do much to play around Dusknoir.

I get donk'd at Worlds from a Gallade, T2 170 is no good >_> But it didn't hurt me at all.

In this Season, I never get donk'd. However it was really barely sometimes. Max. Call and a lot of Basics can easily prevent a donk.

ya, i am not trying to evolve my garchomp going through the whole darn evo line. that's just crazy man!
