UK National Championships - 2nd June 2007

Sorry there's a delay in posting the players who won a trip from London the Masters is very straight but the Seniors needs a second look I will post later to night or tomorrow.
 
According to the International OP site it is now confirmed it is indeed 1 and only one trip for the UK from each of our 3 age gropus.
 
What a bloody rip off. I mean, the people from Germany get more invites. What's so great about the OP at Germany?
 
Germans have cool accents and will probably be more appreciated at Worlds for it. This is the only legitimate reason I can think of.

And I guess their OP provider can just afford more trips to Hawaii. *shrugs*

Germany has really good players - I met, talked German with and played against a few German players at the Professor Cup last year. Don't go knocking other people's OP providers. Not our place to do that. Unless of course they really are doing something wrong.
 
I find this news particularly disturbing as the OP providors in the UK have totally messed up our chances of qualification through premier rankings and now they are short changing us on trips -

Lets just hope that if enough of us complain we can get this situation sorted for next year!
 
I'm not saying thiose countries are bad, I'm just saying that the number of invites should be more proportional to the number of players, and I think there are enough players in the UK to deserve more that just one invite.
 
Okay, maybe I was a bit harsh there. I'm just saying that I don't think there are many players in Mexico. At least not enough to get 3 invites.
 
@ Ultima - We do have a lot of players. However there are also a lot of players in those countries too.

@ everyone else. Hagrid23 has just posted info re: rules changes for D/P. AFAIK these will be enforced ONLY when the set is released here. Additionally, the D/P set will only be legal for the US and Canadian National Championships, so our format for the National Championships will now be confirmed as Deoxys-Epic Collection. Updated accordingly.
 
Mexico has far more players than we do - and a larger number good players - they do deserve the invites they're getting.

Germany got 2 because as far as I know their LD saved up all year.
 
It's all about budget and where the OP Provider and LD put the emphasis, Big Events cost big money and Nationals bleeds the rest of OP dry if you spend too much on it!

It all depends on bang for your buck and what you consider to be the better marketing opportunities.

Personally I would like a lot more made of Nationals and a focus on communicating about it and the other goodies OP and League offer.

For example there has been no push in the UK on the league rewards and no WOW factor applied to the highly desirable HOLO ENERGIES you can earn as a league reward!

We need to see low cost marketing options, like press releases pursued to help pay for those trips..

I was always under the impression that Mexican CC's were equivalent in size to our Nats.....

I and another 600 or so play Pokemon in Mexico, FAR more than wherever YOU are from, so shut up and get facts before you say anything, my City Championships are arguably harder than your Nationals just due to sheer amount of people.

Thaaaaat's right :D. Last years Prof Cup just owned...although I was only there as spectator =) (6 of 8 Germans in T8 haha)


Anyway, I just think we get two trips, because our OP is running really good this year and it's been some time since we had more than 1 trip. But there were already rumors going on last year about that.
