Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

What do you expect the Pokémon TCG to give you?

You do realize that there are better ways to get rid of Special Energy? And those other ways generally involve damage. It's also blocked by the oh so ever helpful Unown G. The Dish Out Spinda is the best.

While there are those out there who whine no matter what, I am personally ....less than satisified with how prizes are distributed with each passing year.

04/05/06 We used to have roughly 50 Gym Challenges where paid airfare and hotel were given to the winners of these events(plus a box of the latest set I think?). This system was obviously a broken mechanic as it allowed players to get to worlds far easier , but the money had to go somewhere after these events were discontinued, right?Stadium Challenges? $15 entry fee pre's + a box to the winner? free dinners at worlds? City and state etching on medals and trophies?

They always say that their budget does not change from year to year, so one would assume battle roads fill this void- I don't think this is the case. The boosters they give you were mass produced, costing them pennies a booster. The victory medals they give out are arguably more expensive, but surely they mass produced these as well and reused the same cards from years where the artwork was the same, minus the stamp(Or already had a template made, ect etc).

Also I realize all these events are free- but prize support must not suffer as a result.

Don't get me wrong though, I still enjoy playing this game and will continue to do so -prizes or no prizes-
but I feel their need to be some changes made, especially if the game is still growing in leaps and bounds each year.

I expect the Pokemon TCG to give me happiness with cards I love like Light Wigglytuff. I give the Pokemon TCG happiness by supporting its product.

We're both happy! It's a win - win! Hooray! :)

Wait - I have one problem with Pokemon TCG - the Prereleases! Since I'm a beginner, they are pretty much the only time I can do well - but they're $25! I understand it's fully worth it in terms of packs and experience, but it costs so little to make those packs. I think it should be $15 or $20, and the winner of each division would get additional packs or a free ticket to the next Prerelease.

I have to give props to Yoshi's posts. I'm getting tired of reading all of these other posts telling us to be happy that we are getting anything =/

Oh, Yoshi does set a few good points. But IMO, some of his arguments are a bit flawed and he's being rather pessimistic about things. I'll give further reasoning tomorrow when its not half past midnight, if its still relevant by then, but Yoshi, please reread your posts and tell me if that doesn't sound just a wee bit pessimistic?

Also, this is not about discussing specific cards. Its about what you GET and GIVE to the TCG, and what you expect from it.

assuming an average pack price of $3.50. Seriously, you should be grateful for that.

Wowowow.I wish I bought my packs for that much... The cheapest I can buy it is 3.72.

But yeah, who cares about paying for tournaments. Most of the deals are good( not including the deal of trying to buy or trade all the cards that you need for the tournament) but yeah.

SteveP -- I am as much concerned about the rising sense of entitlement both within the game and society at large.

I think this sense of entitlement is what drove the decision to split prizes among T4 rather than T2... if you T4 you 'deserve' something, don't you? I made a completely facetious post earlier to this effect.

I am not asking more prizes. Merely that they revert to the VM8-4 of last season, or maintain status quo in other terms.

you bought into a new card game and feel your gunna get your moneys worth? Tell that to any one who plays Epic. and remember these big time magic ( and other) tournys that pay out sooo well with prizes also chage around 20 beans a tour and still only pay to the top 105ish, so right now the grass is greener over here, most other card games are filled with unusable cards as well i mean 4C for a 2/3 flier? if you know magic you knows thats trash. honestly i dont think we need those kinda ppl here. my only beef is that for those outta schooling there no alternate prize

I definitely agree with this.

Three walls and an interesting and potentially useful attack.

Three walls... that will never attack because of their energy costs.

I'll concede the Spinda - I originally thought it had to be a basic energy card for it's first attack. The down draw is still better though, imo.

Besides, here to take it's place is Arcanine, as pointed out by some others.

I've said it before: I would rather pay entry fees for everything to play in an event worth my while. Even if it was a small entry fee, it would allow the ocmpany to substantally improove prizr putout.

Theres a difference between enjoying an event and an event with a decent prize structure. The events as of now are enjoyable, but with terrible prizes. It it possible to have, you know.

your idea of 'decent' is not possible, not within the budgetary/philosophical constraints OP must work with...

sure, 'simple'...except for the tiny fact that FREE events are part of OP's philosophy for running their program...
