I took this deck 3-4 at States with a Sandslash SV tech. It worked in a couple matches to help keep the engine running, but I don't recommend it unless you have no other choice like I did. i'm playing around with Dodrio UD and a couple other things right now, more to come later on.

Note: I am a noob of less than three months play experience, so please be gentle if I post something silly.

^ I've heard of Donphan techs and Relicanth techs. I personally prefer the idea of Relicanth as Earthquake scares me as a tech attack. Relicanth, on the other hand can steal a few prizes from SP's.

Yeah, I have a Relicanth, I just don't really know where to put it. I posted a report in the Tournaments forum, here:

http://pokegym.net/forums/showthread.php?t=143914

Feel free to check it out. Suggestions would be appreciated. I love this deck, and would like to help in any way I can to fine-tune/develop what could become a power player on the scene.

Relicanth works good i think, and a better counter to umbreon. Im thinking of switching out Azelf, what you guys think? Sometimes I find there isn't space to play it and most of the time not necessary to play it..

^ There have been so many games I'm glad I knew what my prizes are. Don't cut it unless you're absolutely certain you don't need it.

^ Its not an easy thing to do. We tried countless options flipped around before getting an ideal build. We're still messing with it even after states.

Just keep playtesting until you find the best build for you.

Poll: Are four Magneton necessary?

I ask because of my deck build. I run two Candy and one BTS. I currently run 3 'Ton. I'm asking because I'm thinking of cutting one for Relicanth. Also, how would Conductive Quarry sound as a backup for "Zone SF #6?

Its not necessary but its nice. Especially If lets say two are prized or something but you need to set up multiple magnezones, which isnt out of the realm of possibilities. It just makes it a little more consistent if you arent running rare candy. Also rare candy are REALLY dead draws late game. Also the stadiums should probably be standard 2 BTS 2 Sunnyshore, you dont need more than that usually.

On the issue of "dead draws", I don't believe this deck has any. Any potentially dead card can be pitched to Regirock or Judged away. I'm doing just fine with one BTS, so I don't think I'll be changing that setup around. I was just wondering if augmenting with Quarry would be a good idea, both to keep the energy flow going if I can't find Super Conn and to increase Skuntank G's effectiveness.

There can definitely be dead draws, just like any deck, mostly because you dont always have access to to regirock or judge or even have a fighting in the discard for that matter. Not only that but a deck that has to run as many energy as this deck does you can certainly open with something like: Tomb, Lightning,Lightning, Fighting, Magneton, Sunnyshore, Warp. It doesnt happen EVERY time but i think it happens more with this deck than others. Thats just what I have experieced, but I have also had awesome starts of tomb magnimite energy collector, and 3 irrelevant cards. I just think this deck is more prone to dead draws.

I ran 3, my friend ran 4. Both ran equally well, but the 4 really helps when you have an unfortunate circumstance in which you have two Magneton's prized.

And his was the one that made it to Top 2. XD

magnazone decks are very good i got to say i might build my self a magnazone deck also....i got beat with one when i was at pokemon league.

I see you use Spiritomb AR over Sableye SF. Why is that? I'm building a Magnerock deck and I'm leaning toward Sableye for my starter.

Spiritomb because as well as slowing down your opponent it speeds up the set up of your magnezone.

Spiritomb is usually for Stage 2 Decks (E.g. Vilegar/Magnezone)
Sableye is more for basic/stage 1 decks (E.g. Sablock/Gyarados)

Just makes it compatible with the speed of other decks in the format.

Regice instead of Regirock is what I meant
Regice allows you to switch pokemon out while still adding to Magnezon's Power, so it is easier to hit below the belt, or just get an easier prize card
