Tool Jammer vs any Technical Machine tools

The discard rule text on the Technical Machine's are also an effect of that Pokemon Tool, so Tool Jammer on the active prevents that effect and the Technical Machine is not discarded.

    Ting-Lu Ex vs Klefki?

Ting-Lu Ex has the Cursed Land Ability that, in the active spot, turns off Abilities of non-ex Pokemon with damage on them. The Klefki in question has Mischievous Lock Ability that, in the active spot, turns off Basic Pokemon Abilities except Mischievous Lock. As with the Bide Barricade vs...

    Super Rod from Neo Genesis

For others who may have interest in using their fancy card: Yes, the Neo Genesis Super Rod is legal for play because of the errata that was "announced" on Pokemon.com. They are still catching up with their errata document. This forum only posts verified official rulings.

Energy / Wash Energy / Effects

Effects of attacks are the actions specified in the attack that aren't attack damage or attack costs. In the case of Wash Energy vs Galarian Moltres' Fiery Wrath: - "20+" is clearly part of the attack damage and not an effect. - "50 more..." is an attack damage calculation, and thus not an...

    Gen 1 Clefable Metronome Question

If you're talking about Jungle set Clefable, Metronome copies the attack regardless of Energy requirements or attachments on the defending Pokemon. As an example, Metronome is the ultimate counter to say, Rocket Zapdos; check it out.

Fusion Strike Energy vs. Vileplume's "Disgusting Pollen" Ability

You can attack.. The Vileplume's ability is targeting your Basic Fusion Strike Pokemon with the Fusion Strike Energy attached. Therefore, Fusion Strike Energy blocks that Ability and your Basic Pokemon can attack the Vileplume

Searching and cards that target specific named cards (i.e. Repeat Ball/Scyther)

Repeat ball, Twin Play, Sparkle - no, you cant search the deck because its public knowledge there are no more of the specific card in your deck. Twin Play is an attack; if you can pay the cost for an attack, but don't have a valid target, then that attack has been used, but the effect fails...

Zamazenta V ability and Dragapult VMAX attack

Zamazenta V gets damaged. Attacks that "do X damage" and attacks that "put... damage counters" are different methods of attack. Max Phantom puts damage counters, but Dauntless Shield ability prevents "damage done... by an attack." This ability can't stop an attack that "puts damage counters."

    Single Strike evolutions.

Yes, you can. Rapid Strike on Luxio is a tag, not part of the name. This differs from cards were Rapid Strike is part of the name, e.g. Rapid Strike Urshifu V (see https://compendium.pokegym.net/ruling/1520/). One of the strategies in use, for example, is to include some "Top Entry" ability...

Magearna-EX and similar cards ruling questions

Thanks for asking these questions! One resulted in this ruling: If my opponent uses Guzzlord's "Red Banquet" attack and my Active Pokemon with Big Parasol attached gets KO'd, does my opponent get to take an extra prize for "Red Banquet" or not?Big Parasol prevents all effects of attacks from...

Phoebe effect on weakness guard energy or coating energy

Weakness Guard Energy and Coating {Metal} Energy place effects on the negate weakness. Those are not negated, per this meta-ruling: Metal Goggles and Stone { Fighting } Energy put effects on the Pokemon that decrease damage; if that active Pokemon is attacked by a Pokemon VMax when Phoebe has...

    Uncut sheet

I got one in 2003 at the Fan Appreciation Tournament and used it as the "most points in 5 tournaments" prize in the "Pokemon Pentathalon" tournament I held in like 2008(?). Sheets are pretty rare these days and very valuable.
