Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Nintendo Wii Or PS3?

Let's look at the killer apps (both current and future) for all three systems.

*note that I will not be covering multi-platform games

Wii: Everything Chris described above.

360: Gears of War, Dead Rising, F.E.A.R., Lost Planet, Halo 3, Halo Wars, Burger King games (LOL).

PS3: Resistance, PS3 Final Fantasy, Heavenly Sword, PS3 Killzone, MGS4 (even though it will probably come to other systems, it is a PS3 exclusive for now), Tekken PS3, A supposed sequel to Red Dead Revolver (which I am personally excited about).

OK, so, given the above lists, the Wii surely has many more great games coming out. Don't get me wrong, though: I AM buying a 360 once I can afford it. Just...not a PS3.

Also, yes, the PSP blows....hard. It's overhyped and underdeveloped.

Also lol @ PSP's 3-4 hour battery life playing games.

I usually end up surprised when my DS runs out of power because it doesn't happen that often.

Edit: You know, if it wasn't for his violent, swear-riddled posts earlier I'd almost think lolganium was trolling us on purpose at this point. But then I re-read those posts and am reminded that he actually believes what he's saying. Sad.

im sorry, im gonna have to disagree with you. The thing about Nintendo is well, they are alot like Disney. They are the most well known video game company, but not EVERY game they produce is a Killer-app. I would hardly consider Mario Party a killer app. Project HAMMER looks like a watered down, more beat-em up style zelda control game and i would rather play zelda, Sonic, lets just put it this way, i will be VERY surprised if it is good. Mario Galaxy,Brawl, and Pokemon Battle Rev are the games you should praise.

Regardless of what you think, Microsoft has alot of good games going for it. Gears of War, imo officially started the next gen of video games. It met the hype and sets a solid foundation for another series of well built games. Halo 3 makes ppl poop their pants. I cannot tell you how many of my friends say they will get a 360 when it comes out. Halo is arguabley the biggest gaming franchise today...at least in America. Other notable games are:
Lost Planet (i personally dont think it looks all that great, but the japanese are eating it up)
Blue Dragon (Chrono Trigger's spiritual sequel....FTW)
Lost Oddysey (same as above)
Halo Wars
Mass Effect
Shadowrun

Sony's first party games for the most part are absolute crap. Their life support from Square Enix is slowly dissapearing.

PS3 exclusive games are not crap!
tekken is the lord of beat-em-ups!
metal gear is the ulltimate! ressistance looks insane! warhawk is looking great! was talking to my kickboxing mates today. they all got sonys vote! and all have GIVEN away their DS for PSP! one even has thrown his gamecube out his upstair window! ive kind of grown out of mario. and i agree, sonic has been ruind, i also agree BW2 rocks. one other thing; FFXIII launched on PS3. only console to support graphics! LOL AT YOU!
PSP online best!

PSP is gone, at the end of this month, they are no longer making any more movies for it, because they are losing far too much money. DS sales are skyrocketing. PSP= x/

PS3 is just a game system with blue ray. If it hadn't had BR it would have done much better up to this point, because it increased the cost by 400+ dollars which is absolutly rediculose. I would much rather have good games than cool graphics anyday.

Tekken faltered hard with Tekken 4 and lost a huge amount of its following. SoulCalibur has a much larger player base and Street Fighter 3: TS's tournament circuit is still the most dominant. Tekken 5 was good but it is most definitely nowhere near being the "lord" of fighters. Even SSBM is ahead of it in popularity.

Also, what kind of person does it take to throw a gamecube out a window? That isn't a rational person by any means, that's for sure. I definitely wouldn't trust their opinion...

ugh nintendo fan boys

Sony fanboys are far worse.

Well, the average quality of a Nintendo game is higher than that of any other developer. Of course, this is not to say that they are incapable of developing or producing bombs (*cue evil glance at Hey You, Pikachu!*).

Regardless of what you think, Microsoft has alot of good games going for it. Gears of War, imo officially started the next gen of video games. Well, to defy the stereotype of the Nintendo fanboy, I totally agree with you. The 360 has a killer lineup set up, but the only thing I must say is that they don't really develop many fantastic games (Hello, Blinx). Also, almost all of the 360's must-haves are shooter-ish games -- which while great, get repetitive after a while, regardless of how great they are. Nintendo, as described above, actually produces and develops many, many high-quality games. That, in my opinion, gives them the edge in this race.

Sony's first party games for the most part are absolute crap. Their life support from Square Enix is slowly dissapearing.

Yeah, Squenix was/is one of the last hopes for Sony. SInce they are hardly able to make good games to save their lives, they're utterly doomed.

Actually, this brings me to another supposition. Perhaps Nintendo's first-party reputation is responsible for their revitalization in today's market, no?

.....

Another supposition. It seems that the optimal way to go for most consumers is to go with both the 360 and the Wii, ignoring the PS3 entirely. Thus, theycan get their quality platformers AND shooters -- both genres which the PS3 is poised to fail on.

I doubt this very much.
No, I'm pretty sure the Blu Ray tacked on several hundred to the development cost. They're losing a couple hundred on each system as it is. Without the Blu Ray I'd think the price would have dropped about $200. Tied with the 360 since they're pretty much equally capable machines. And they may have actually not lost (as much) money per system and development costs for games would have gone down.

But the Ray! It's... blu(e)! Must... buy... PS3...!
The only cojent point you've made is "lol graficks". We're actually making points here; we wouldn't call you a blind fanboy if you actually justified your arguments.

The blu-ray would lower the system's construction cost by maybe $300 if removed, which would lower its effective price to the same as Xbox 360... but then PS3 would lose one of its few real selling points at the moment.

Don't blue-ray machines go for 2000? Thats a plus for sony, I guess (even though you would still need those super high-quality tvs). Anyways, I think everyone has forgotten about the wii channels. They can go anywhere with these things (not just internet, but things like decorating a house or having a fake job or something like that). The channels will definately help out Nintendo in the long run.

Ok Everyone, for Christmas i'm trying to Decide on getting a Wii or a
360. What would you guys/ girls recommend and why? Also which Games
for each system would be good?

to Lord Broly
Iwould still say 360 because Gears of War is out, Lost Planet will be soon and there is a excellent online system.
Hold off on a Wii for now unless you are crazy about Zelda. Wii is gonna be a great system to have next fall :thumb:

No Comparisson!!

theres no discusion on which is better
wii=250-300
ps3=500-600

also all ps3 is is a freakin upgraded ps2.
wii is something new and unplayed...
ps3 is just another sequel of a peice of junk worth 500-600 bucks.
id rather spend those extra bucks ob buying a wii and sum games for it then buying a ps3

also zac that was funy
 [sigged]

My tier list of Home Consoles: Wii>Xbox360>PS3

Come on, as long as Nintendo has Mario, Metriod, Zelda, Pokemon, Starfox, Donkey Kong, Super Smash Bros, and Fire Emblem they aren't going under.

Personally 'I could care less about graphics. As far as 3d goes Super Mario 64 has enough polygons to satisfy me. And if you say that games like Metroid prime and Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess look bad, you need serious help. I found a site once that showed the images of three versions of Call of Duty 3 and they all looked the same. The only way that you could find the smallest detail of difference you would need at least a zoomx50. And the Wii has the best controller in the history of gaming. First person shooters all you have to do is point and blast. No more strange button combos just to aim the gun. In LoZ you actually pull back for a bow and arrow, and swing your sword. And Super Mario Galaxy will be the best 3d platformer since Super Mario 64. Pokemon Battle Revolution came out in japan today. And for those of you that hated the 3d RPGs, this game is very similar to Stadium and Stadium 2.
And above all, its price tag is amazing, it is tiny, and it has a free internet browser, not to mention the flash support. It also comes bundled with a game so you don't have to pitch in another $30-50 to buy your first game. And Virtual console!!!! You can play loads of games that you couldn't play on the Gamecube (well, except for the Legend of Zelda games on that bonus disk and all the NES games on Animal crossing, and Metroid with the connection between metroid fusion and prime) and the collection of games is constantly growing.
Who can so no to another round of Super smash bros?
How about the, "Just one more dungeon" on LoZ
Or even the, "One more castle" of all the 2d mario games

I don't see the super duper PS3 coming with so much as a demo disk, Oh wow, it plays blu-ray. I got news for ya, Blu ray does hold information great, but to spend that much on a practacly a DVD player, you're crazy. "It's HD though", So what, My dad bought an HDTV and I cannot tell the difference from when he is on an HD channel or on a regular channel.

And to everyone who thinks that the PSP is better than the DS, consider this:
Metroid prime hunters= FPS with free Wi-Fi multiplayer And voice chat (not the best but its something)
Nintendogs= Best virtual pet game ever. Come on, what would you rather do. Throw a frisbee or press the X and square buttons? Not to mention voice comands.
Pokemon D/P= Best pokemon game ever w/ global trade center, and Wi-fi battling and voice chat.
Touch screen allows for great mini games as seen on Super Mario 64 DS and WarioWare Touched
Its easier to select menu options by touching than using the arrow pad
It has great puzzle games like Meteos, Polarium, and Tetris DS in which the touch screen adds a whole new dimension and makes them easier to control.
Sure the PSP has racing games. The DS also has Ridge Racer
Need a platformer/3d platformer, get New Super mario bros, or Super Mario 64 DS
Like sonic? Get sonic DS

thats my 2 cents,
