*roll eyes* yeah can't forget that. Dropping cards on accident while shuffling, God what a cheat!

Dropping what-something like 12 cards in your lap and not realizing it until like turn 2 or 3?! Accident- i don't think so. C'mon yj :)

And i REALLY like stephen too- but this will follow him as long as he plays. people will wonder.

And YJ, does he even play anymore? I was curious to see how he would do moving up to the "big boys',
but haven't seen his name pop up anywhere lately? Did he quit or something? Anyone?

For 11-14, Psyduck-Chad was mentioining to me how skilled Takashi Yoneda (2nd at 05) was. I observed, and was not surprised at all: That kid was very good, and put up a very solid fight against Medicham, the auto-loss. I don't think that Stuart should be mentioning as much for the 11-14, because well...he's gonna be 15 soon enough.

I gotta dispute that Kettler. I played him in the swiss rounds and quite honestly, he wasn't all THAT great. I mean, he was good for an 11-14er and he put up a real good fight, but I don't think he was any better than the best 11-14ers. Here was my top 11-14ers for last year:

Steven Ds- Amazing player, look at John's post.
Stu B- Awesome record, Levi talked about him above, only thing is the only decks he ever won with were made by Levi :\
Dan R- He's really good and a real cool guy
Andrew K (not M45's son)- T4 at Worlds last year and one of my ZRE buddies <3
Paris G- This kid was SICK before he left RIP buddy <3
Jeff V- This guy is really really good as well

And last of all...me! Honestly, I thought I was an elite 11-14er last year and tore up tourneys in the Northeast as much as anyone else did. Not to mention I went 8-0 in swiss during Worlds, only losing to a T2 Vileplume in T32 because of TWO lone Ray* starts!

I haven't seen this Bobby guy play at all, so I won't comment, but idk if he is as good as the 7 mentioned above.

Aaas for 10- I'm going with James B and Andrew K.

15+ my picks are pretty much all up there.

Uh, I never said that Japanese kid was good, I don't even really watch 11-14 and 10- play. Anyways, Best Player ever? Define that for me.

- Are we talking about the Best Player In Game Situations?
- Are we talking about the Best Deckbuilder?
- Are we talking about the Best Player in Just Tournaments?

If we're talking all time, most of you have no idea, honestly. Honestly, there could be a different answer to all those questions. There are some amazing deck builders who probably don't get the respect they deserve, some examples would be Pramawat, Plaid, and myself; people who haven't had the big finish at a major event (Nats/Worlds/STS/FAT).

Most of us didn't even know Yamato existed up until 2004, you're all crazy for calling him the best player EVER. We don't even know anything about him before that year. Look, the guy is talented, that's for sure, but he's not the all mighty GOD everyone makes him out to be. The Yamato Marathon is a clear abberation, how many great players did the guy actually play? His matchups seem to be godly as well in tournaments. The guy IS good, but he also has a lot of breaks go his way, not to say that great players don't need that, anyone who thinks so is ludicrous. He's not invincible, he's beatable, and he's not the greatest player ever.

With that said, if I had to pick, all time, consistancy in all 3 of those questioned areas I said, I'd have to go with Ness. After that you can make a case, but really without a certain somebody helping us out at some point, with a deck, learning the game, becoming a great player, introducing us to the elite, whatever; everyone has had people(s) that have made them what they are in the game.

Don't forget the amazing year that Phil Mondiello had.

Good question about Steven Davis though. Where is he?

There are so many great players. I would put Jake Burt right at or near the top.

But it's all about results and NOBODY had a bigger year last year than Curran H. Lots of great players with big wins, but he brought home the bacon time and again.

Curran is the Raiders of Pokemon - Just Win Baby!

Believe what you want. I don't believe he cheated. I've known him for quite sometime and can honestly say I don't think he'd do that. From what I heard from others(not just him), it wasn't that many cards, it wasn't a few turns later, it was immediate when it was realized. I could be wrong on that, I did not see the incident my self but I do know him well enough to say I trust him when he said he didn't do anything to try and cheat. So you "C'mon"

He's been wanting to go to a few things, he had originally intended on quitting, he wasn't that pleased with people making comments about the only reason he won anything was cheating, being referred to as a cheater and the like. Can't honestly say I blame him =\. People have to be jealous tho, when he owns everyone he ever played in that division

People can wonder, but I will keep saying I do not think he did it. If he DID, and the judges had such solid proof as was being suggested at first, then why on EARTH was he only DQed for a matter of moments? Why didn't it result in some sort of suspension also, and why did it not stick? That right there makes me a little... less likely to believe it.

I agree with Chu, Paris was AMAZING at this game when he played. He needs to come back! :)

Paris could play the worst decklist (often his own) for any particular archetype and win any tournament he played in.

Example: I remember him playing an ugly, UGLY Sceptile list (featured EM Sceptile and roundabout 3x Masterball...) at Indiana GC's last year...T4'd and conceeded to our friend Brandon, I have no doubt he could have won that event.

He'll be around for big events, we hope. I'll just have to send him some newer cards in the mail and he'll be hooked.

Just wait and see, that's all I can say.
Top-8 at wordls and wins in almost everything last year.
Not to mention 3rd place in a gym challenge with monkeywrench
If that doesn't take skill I dunno what does!!!!!!!

YJ, W/e ! Please don't imply I am jealous of him or anything he has accomplished. I'm not!

I LIKE Stephen-i really do. He is a good kid and was a phenominal player in his day. won everything.
BUT.... Like i said yesterday on a different post- when you do something "shady" it will taint everything you've accomplished in this game.

Now Stephen won just about everything, so it is obv. he has talent- and plenty of it.

But no excuse- accident or not - to have cards in your lap second day of worlds. No excuse at all.

i have talked to people involved in what happened. Why he didn't get a dq is beyond me.

All this aside- he was one of the best 11-14 players ever!

If your out there steven - come back and face the music, show the world what you can do. and do it
honestly. can't speak for everyone, but i'd welcome you back.

Chu- Bobby is 12- and can play with the best of them. When he is 14 you know who he is. i guarantee this!

From personal experience playing as well as accomplishments I'd say the top player in the world today and of all time is definitely Jason Klaczynski. For those of you who have played against him or tested with him as we have, you know that he's better than anyone for many reasons. He's able to calculate the best ways to handle any situation and factor in the luck factor. He doesn't make mistakes. His deckbuilding is way above what you guys give him credit for. His decks are incredibly well built. As far as building creative decks, Jason has done that just as much as any other over the course of his career. Seena Ghaziaskar is definitely a good deckbuilder and player too, and has an incredible record in major events. From there I'd say Chris Fulop, Alex Brosseau, Matt Moss, Kyle Sucevich, Martin Moreno, Jimmy Ballard, and Adam Vernola rate as some of the best players, metagamers, and deckbuilders in the game today. I've played all of them several times, and I how much they put into the game. Elite FTW!

ok the best person in WA state so fare since i have been playing pokemon is Levi Canfeild. He test all the time and usally brings most of the new decks to our state by talking with many people around the United States (Freddy is the exception). I would have to say second would be Stuart but if it is only 15+ then Ross would be second. He made the one the only POW-BLOCK.

I don't think there is a "best player" in this game. It's obvious there's an "elite" group that soars above the rest, and a group of about 10 that are TRULY great, but I can't really choose one. But if I have to choose?

Martin Moreno. The man doesn't get the credit he deserves. He's a consistent performer, but every time he's about to get the big win, he catches another unlucky break. While I've actually witnessed Ness, Seena, etc. making mistakes, I've never heard of him making one. EVER.

PS: Good thing Ness isn't banned from these boards and can read how everyone thinks he's the best player. OOPS!

The ONLY reason I'm not going to get mention is because I don't live in the midwest. I outopreformed Seena, Chuck, Fulop, AND Moss at Worlds. WHERES my trophy? Since I don't get to play in the events they do though, I'm not put on the same spectrum. I'll be at Nationals though.
