I couldn't have said it better myself. The games I've been playing in this format are truly some of the best I've ever had. I was giving serious consideration to quitting again, but after playing in this format, I just can't do it. As somebody who enjoys playing the game in the most fair and interesting way possible, the drawbacks you mention mean very little to me. I don't necessarily agree about the price factor, though. Mewtwo is ridiculous, but it's hardly worse than Yanmega was at its peak. Outside of that, most of the EX's seem to be sticking at 10-15 dollars, which isn't at all outrageous in my opinion. This is really a very good summary of the thread. I'm also out of thanks again. :/I have been play testing with the new EXs and I have played some the best matches I have ever had. They're broken but they do bring significant skill back to the game and comebacks are possible again. That said, with the exception of Magnezone, they do reduce the role of evolution cards to support which is sad to see. Decks will be a lot less diverse but the match ups will be much moire even , eliminating the much-hated "rock-paper-scissors" factor. Its also worth noting that the cost of building a competitive deck will increase drastically. So whether they're good for the game or not depends on how you define a "healthy" meta. Just my opinion though.
I'm not sure about this card. Aside from Mewtwo and Shaymin, it doesn't even OHKO the EX cards, which is really lame. It's too hard to get out when you need it to be a more effective Mewtwo counter than Mewtwo. It's not a bad card, though.I wonder how Rayqauza Deoxys Legend would fare...
Such a direct, hard counter would be bad for the game. If you play against a basic deck, you win. If you don't you lose. There's no room for outplaying. It would be a completely "top-down" design. It would have one specific role in the meta, and nothing outside of that one role. Those types of cards are bad for the game (see Heatmor). It wouldnt be too broken. Decks would have to be made more diverse to counter other decks. It would make fast basic decks have to slow themselves down in order to counter another deck.
That awful heatmor shows pokemon are not afraid of hard counters. EXs are only bad for the format if theyre the only option and they have no counters (desert ruins?), but we'll have to see. if mewtwo is essential every deck and is as expensive as luxray was I might quit.

Go back and read Battle Frontier. I kinda wish they did more stuff like that, honestly...
considering that the EXs yield 2 prizes a Machamp SF remake would be too powerful, but a Machamp HL would be a different story.
Also if something blocked all basics it should be a tad on the weaker side IMO since this is a basic-centered format
