There are reasons I believe this should be done and reasons I believe it shouldn't.
Arguments for Worlds being on TV:
o1. It would promote playing the game.
o2. It would give some players an extra initiative to make it to Worlds. The 'Cool, Mom, I'm on TV' factor.
o3. POP Could profit from DVD Sales, more merch, and would likely draw in more money from the players they're broadcasting to.
o4. More of a push to sell the TCG Championship Decks.
Arguments against Worlds being on TV:
o1. The Shyguy factor (players being camera-shy or having their concentration broken by cameras being there).
o2. The Not So Proud factor (players in my age group whom are, unfortunately, ashamed of the fact they play the game and don't want others to know that they play it. It's sad but true for some. People think this is true about me due to an odd ritual I have at tournaments: I wear a wig. No joke. I stick out like a sore thumb. See a guy running around with silver hair, scream out 'Armored Mewtwo' and he should turn around.)
o3. Possibility of a bad reaction from the fans and potential players, if attempted incorrectly.
In short: If you do it correctly, then it could work. Along with Top Cut, other matches should be included (with PERMISSION of both players) to serve as filler material.
I support the idea, and would love to see this occur in the near future.
