But the draft stuff is cool tho ;\

I don't remember all the players of the side event, but I think none of them was Professor ! The Profs were judging the main event
You're right Dumbledore, the players in the side event is absolutely not an indication about the Profs who will be in Amsterdam.
It gives an idea about the amount of 15+ players who are interested in big tournaments. If some of them had children playing the main event, there were players who came for the side event only. Like Sauron says, the 15+ category is growing, but there are less 10- players. OK, figures from Antwerp may probably not be considered as a 'rule', just as an indication. This will have to be confirmed by the other GC.
What we can say is that 28 players out of 128 (22 % of the players present in the arena) were 15+ ready to play for fun (for boosters too ) and not for big prizes like a trip. I think it's in the line of what we've seen in last year's STSQ in Europe and in NY or San Diego. The amount of players in the 15+ is high in big events. I don't want to go against Wizards politics or decisions, but if some players are highly interested in the Prof program (judging, special tournaments, ...), many other 15+ are just wanting to play like they've always done.
The format for the Profs in Amsterdam is regular Modified (3 Swiss rounds) then top 8 in Rochester draft. But we don't know if new sets will be released before the GS.
Here are the winning decks of the GC in Antwerp (you can find them on www.playingpokemon.com too, with a lot of information about the big events in Europe)
Nick Alfaro's deck (winner 10- from Belgium) 4 Eevee 1 Dark Espeon 1 Espeon 2 Umbreon 1 Mewto 2 Rocket's Hitmonchan 2 Elekid 1 Wobbuffet 1 Gligar 1 Tyrogue 2 Rocket's Mewto 3 Recycle energy 2 Rainbow energy 3 Darkness energy 11 Psychic energy 7 Fighting energy 1 Full heal energy 4 Berry 4 Gold Berry 4 Prof Elm 2 Nightly Garbage Run 1 Energy Flow
Willem Coenen's deck (winner 11-14 from Holland) 4 Totodile 4 Croconaw 3 Feraligatr 3 Cleffa 2 Magbi 1 Elekid 4 Prof Elm 4 Misty's Wrath 4 Double Gust 3 Trash Exchange 3 Secret Mission 2 Energy Stadium 3 Focus Band 1 Healing Field 1 Time Capsule 18 Water Energy

No matter which type of Modified format they're choosing for Amsterdam, it will sure not be the Modified we know and "love" (*hysterical laugh*). It will be Neo On or Rocket on with Champi... er... Legendary Thingy. And I'm sure the old Modified format will change a LOT with the release of Legendary. Just the fact that it's designed by Wizards and not Media Factory means that it is designed to change Modified. .
I think we'll have to make new decks for Amsterdam, everyone of us. And we'll need plenty of playtesting too. Let's all gather in a white, strange-smelling tent at a hotel, and practice all night until we collapse! That's the fun of a Big Event!

HOLY! OK, the Legendary mofo set will be reprints of base and stuff...prolly. Either way that results in the need of new cards. Ack! I've like burned all my old cards or traded them away :/
I MUST have the information now or I'm in big trouble. I must start gather cards and then its the playtesting...Freakin!! ARGHHHH!

Neo- onwards will not take place until 'Worlds' in September. Legendary will need to be looked into if it is released in time for Amsterdam.

Hi
I wanted to confirm that the Modified Format will not be changing before the Stadium Challenge in Amsterdam. Most likely the change will be announced early June and be effective as of August BUT this still needs to be confirmed.
Secondly I would also like to let you all know, that I will continue to monitor the messageboards and post when nescessary, Ill let Antoine and Kristin know when you have questions for them. We thought it would be better to have just one person monitor the boards as we all have a lot of work. But do feel free to post them messages if nescessary and Ill let them know they need to answer them :-)
Thirdly : we are going to be out of the office working at 3 different events in the coming two weeks so we'll hardly be in the office until May 13 when normal business resumes ... at least for a while... Do feel free to email me when you have a question, I will be checking email (and the boards) when possible but expect a little delay on an answer.
Last but not least, we still cant make a decision regarding Sweden, but all your suggestions were interesting and usefull and will certainly be looked into. For the time being, we cannot make any firm decisions, Ill make sure it gets cleared up as soon as we possibly can.
Thanks
Ann

Congratulations to who I'm sure will be the newest member of Team Europe, Fiona Ting a.k.a. sentimental_blastoise's younger sister, who won the 10- UK Challenge today in London.
Was it Yascine - or his brother - who won the 11-14 place... in any case, the other brother landed top 4 and they are repeat winners from last year's STSQ in the UK who'll be going to Seattle too.
Fiona won with Entei-Macargo vs. a Rk.Zapdos/Scyther/Piloswine deck, while Sekkoum won against Gatr I think twice in a row through semi- and finals, with a Slowking/Dark Gengar deck.

*smiles* all I have to do is persuade my mother to take me as well as my sis! many thanks to the hairy rat obsessed clefairy for deck fixage (that is good english grammar...no,really!) and general coolness for opening up his house for playtesting a night a week..complete with great food thanks marion!
anyyway...
London Gym Challenge was a great day for everyone I think. Everyone was really friendly, nobody got drop dead serious, and those who watched were treated to some really good matches in both age groups. A couple of really nasty rules calls were ok in the end - this was a quarter/semi final call.
2 turns ago a Feraligatr player has riptided back into his deck, and knocked out a dark gengar. The Gengar player has only noticed now that the Feraligatr only has 2 water energy attached, and cannot riptide. The gatr player has had energy in hand and has been downpouring, so cheating seems unlikely (could have just attached the water..). This K.O has turned the tide of the match however, and the gengar player is on the ropes, with one prize to take before he wins.
Prize swap or not? lol. that's how I was told the tale anyway.
There was quite a nice variety of deck types - I only saw about 6 feraligatrs, a few crobats, 2 entei magcargos and a few big fires across the age groups. 10- produced some bizarre stuff..a rocket's mewtwo/promo mewtwo made top four, and a rainbow ho-oh deck...(without the ho-oh seemingly!) made top 8.
Snorlax cast a shadow over the side tournaments ith his fiery curry power, and he and myself now hold the record for the longest unsuccessful misty's duel ever
roll on amsterdam....I can't wait.

Hi, peeps!! Dad has booked the ticet's for amsterdam. So il be going. Now it's just to do the g*D dam test again!!! Dam i hate that test.
But ok enough of that, what we ALL shuld do in amsterdam is meet a place. Like in a store of a kind and just platest the whole day's b4 the main turnament. So we all can meet, talk, play eachoter again. And then maybee meet some of you guys for the first time. We shuld do something like that meet a place to playtest.
Or the one with the biggest hotel-room is the host.

Amsterdam
Tickets all booked and sorted...I'm sharing with FreddyK, Michel and a Mysterious other that we need to find to split the room cost with! I don't mind our place being a playtesting haven...it's in the hotel where the wizards ppl are staying, so that could be cool. Being the youngest means that my opinion may not necessarily count tho... lol. We'll be getting in bright and early Saturday morning, and off on Monday afternoon. teCHed up magcargo for me prob...although I'm tweaking a fun Dark Crobat at the moment, dunno if it's tourney viable tho. Good luck with the Prof test psyduck..hope you get some nice q's like i did !
